LED's light up when power passes in one direction. In AC you have both. The doide will use half of it. But little cheap scooters use a half wave regulation system. Which means half of the ac wave is shunted to ground all the time. So on a scooters lighting system called AC it is not . It is pulsing DC. So if you connect a LED and it doesn't light, reverse the leads. Try to measure it with a meter set to AC rms and it won't show the correct value.

I found an iHome at the pawn shop for $14.00 It runs on battery's or AC.. I use this with an old ipod touch running whited00r6 to have portable music on the fly. What so cool is at home this thing is great when powered up on ac it charges the ipod. Also it can tune in stations from around the world when wifi is available. It sounds good too.

The clutch assembly has grease in there to lube the bearing surfaces. It dries out and moister gets in. The destroys the bearing surfaces. If no service is done to prevent this. The clutch fries and kills belts. You are at 5000 miles so you are due for a complete drive inspection cleaning and lube. Here is a 6000 mile taotao with this problem. This scooter needed a belt and clutch assembley and the starter ele and kick lubed. with Fluid Film a lanolin awesome best lube ever homies. Disclaimer. This video IS service Approved.

Longer belt will slow it down. You can short'n the tube the variator rides on. This will cause the belt to ride higher on the front pulley. Although this is an interesting approach for more speed, a gear change/larger tire on the back works too.

Take the center stand off, it's dead weight. Spray Fluid film on kick start mech. Remove, disassemble, inspect, relube clutch pulleys bearing surfaces. Put 80cc kit on it. Ream out the main jet 10%. change the air in the tires. Put gas in it and run like . put fender back on, it will soak the electronics under the cowl. Buy a Dog, Buy 2. install a radar jamming phased array. Que up some DJAbstract dawg www.mtrec.com/abstract/sounds/abstract26.mp3

If the clutch pully is wobbling all over the place worn out it doesn't matter what belt you use it is toast. So check your pulleys for wear b4 you go belt crazy. When a belt screeds at 250 miles something else is wrong. I used to think only Gates PL30507 or Bando was good enough, but if the goal is to see how far they will go then maybe that idea is sound. But what I found is belts run best new and thick, once they get down to 17mm they slow up. Although you can still run them 2000 miles more, what's the point. So I go with Elcheapo and expect 1000 miles per belt. These things are like new when I take them off or out of service, then I give them away to my scooter friends who never have a spare. Ha Ha This is what I got for $6 each. Yeah for Cheap Azz Belts YeaH!!!!!!!!

Audit the amp needs. See what you need. What about headlights. Scooter lights suck. Figure you will be adding a HID headlamp =4 amps. EFI fuel pump 24 watts/12=2 amps
That's 6 amps so far. Run leds in the back.
6ampsx12=72 watts. add 2 amps to charge the battery.96 watts. 11 pole should give 140 watts (a guess)cold less hot. That will cover it.
Going dc won't change much because you will still need power to run the ignition and that will come off the battery/ coil so I don't see an advantage in going 12 pole.

The nut comes loose and hits the starter dog and makes that noise. Mine came loose all the time, like every 1200 miles. Turns out the nut has to be put on tighter than possible with a wrench. I got an impact now and I don't have that problem. And no I don't use glue. Real Mechanics don't glue things together, WE weld them or they WELD themselves. To get the tube off the shaft you can spray you favorite whatever spray, WD40, Fluid Film, Hair Spray, and work it loose. What happens it the tube spins and then it sticks. It's a suck azz design. Awe Man that img reminds me of Old Island Boy Ziggy and the Head Top, Roll it one time for the Zigg Mon !!!!!!!!!!

Looking at this image I see your bike has a half wave charging system stock. These work OK. To implement the existing wiring on the bike and not modify anything pull the old stator off and reuse it. Or if you don't have it you can buy one. If you want to increase power for more lights or a sound system you can Upgrade to the 3phase system. For this to work you need a 3 phase reg/rec. You also need to rewire the headlights(yellow wire to feed off the ign switch. You also need to set the sence wire for the regulator to the B+ 12 volt battery all the time. Then you are done.

Looks like you need the right regulator, a 3 phase one. You can use a 3 phase stator on a 1 phase regulator like hook 2 of the 3 yellows to yellow and pink on the regulator. 1 coil will be rouge. Meaning not connected and running wild. May not cause a problem but maybe not. it looks like this
