Gy6. It seems to just want to come out but the gear is in the way. Do you have to remove the gear to get it out? Ive read a post where that step is not mentioned. Whats the trick?

It should come out. You may have to finagle it around a bit though. I had one I thought wouldn't come out. The hole in the case was a little to small. but with a lot of wiggling it came out.

On a similar note, how do you all start your scoots with the cvt cover off? Everytime I try it almost starts but then the bendix gets jammed in they cvt gear (cant think of the right word right now D8

On a similar note, how do you all start your scoots with the cvt cover off? Everytime I try it almost starts but then the bendix gets jammed in they cvt gear (cant think of the right word right now 2 things..I lift the Bendix up and to the right to get it our out..once it clears the hole it's shaft is in. Other thing..to start with cover off..."DO AT YOUR OWN RISK"...what I do is hold my thumb on the Bendix tip when I crank...then it will run with cover off. Beware of the CVT geared pulley..don't get cut...caught or pinched. Now the sucky part..once started with cover off...sometimes the Bendix vibrates out of its mounting hole and grinds on the CVT. I assume you are talking about a GY6 50cc engine. The 150's are different and crank with the cover off and ya don't have to hold anything in place.
