Most use a cabled speedo but the digital bicycles use inductive magnets instead of a mechanical cable . It is very common for wires to get loose like a ground wire or have a short . Do they other gauges work ? Check to see if it has a fuse as my Echarm has 3 fuses where most only have one . Do you have a meter or continuity tester ? If not Harbor Freight has them for little money

Wear a FF helmet with the shield clean and coated with anti fog treatment like Scotts Antifog from CycleGear which I use . I wear waterproof gloves , boots and longjohns . I keep a poncho under the seat but they blow outward so much I use a belt to wrap around it . My leather coat is waterproof but it needs to be retanned and oiled . Rainsuits get so hot when its warm and humid to where I would rather get wet . Freeze Out longjohn pants and shirt or the one piece are windproof and water resistant . I have worn a Tyvek suit with a hood and booties in a monsoon and had a few ounces of water in my sleeves and water was standing 3 or 4 inches above my ankles inside my suit . The other times it kepy me dry but the rain was blowing in all directions . CycleGear has many suits like I think it is called Road Toad or similar name around 30 or 40 but some suits can be as much as 180 yikes .
The main thing to be concerned with is visibility of ones self to cagers as it poses a greater risk of accident . Stopping distance will be longer with wet brakes . Ride in the tracks of previous cars as the water level with be less in them . I ride on the right side of the lane in order to be in the drivers view of cars behind me . If on a 50 its best yield or wave for cars to pass you by instead of posing a danger by being behind you with so many drunks , dopers and texters on the road these days .
Now I have been caught without a helmet several times and luckily my Oakleys are wrap around design and I have glasses over glasses for my other frames which block wind , rain and dirt from getting in my eyes . I only go 40 MPH when I do not have on a helmet as the rain drops will sting my face . I hit 120 MPH in a storm ( yes I was a crazy teen ) and had dots all over my chest and arms . It felt like I had gotten an all over tattoo .
I only ride if its a have to or close distance to go . Always have a poncho or windbreaker under the seat . Make sure all lights work and that the head light lens is clean too .
Having the stock airbox is great since it prevent rain from getting into the carb and engine . Even with a tarp and in my garage my 2T with Uni I often have to drain water out of the carb bowl after a hard storm . I will be putting the airbox on it soon as that is a bummer to deal with

So was the bearings rusty ?
Now with a BBK you will have more compression especially for the kits that reuse the 40mm or 49cc head with smaller combustion chambers as to why some opto for an extra base gasket or two to reduce compression . Some of the after market CDIs have advanced timing and I have read for some starting was not as easy as before the mod

The GY6 is an older Honda patten for an engine so its sinilar but Chinese scooters are not Honda quality as I only had two Honda scooters in the past as to why I was so unhappy with my first China scooter a TaoTao ATMa 50 which was a lemon .
Be glad you have a China scooter since parts are cheap and easy to get as genuine Honda parts cost way more
Honda has a model similar to my Echarm but the Honda has rear drum where mine is disc brakes and thousands of dollars less

I have noticed for a long time how it seemed to get hotter faster and longer each year compared to when I was a pup . December 21 2012 obviously was not the end of the world but in fact the end of an orbital cycle that takes around 25,600 years . So far it has been nice and cool but more rain than normal . I love riding in the winter and when its cool so I can wear my armor and not burn up . We may very well have another ice age halfway through the cycle as that is when we are the furthest away from the Sun as we are now the closest we get to it in this cycle .
One year my children went to Texas to visit family on my Xs side minutes away from Mexico . Well Christmas Day it was 100 degrees yet the next day it snowed . Wish they could have gotten a white Christmas

Wow I would love to have a Harley scooter and ride around at Sturgis . I know HD had made 49cc mopeds with a 3 speed twist shift as off road motorcycles but that is the first HD scooter I have seen .
There was a thread about should HD make a scooter a while back and I think some of us would like it but hard core HD riders may frown on it . Would be wild to see a V twin 49cc HD scooter with loud exhaust .
What kind of tranny did it have ? How fast would it go ?

I got my MC license when I was 16 on a Suzuki GS 550 so a scooter should be easy . The MC road test is by far easier than that for a car or at least in SC it is . Make sure you have a MC tag not a moped tag , all lights and horn works and most important a helmet . When I took the driving test it had just started to rain but the DMV employee said to go ahead since I had waited a long time in the lobby . I had to go a straight line then turn around and come back the same way . Next I went through a double figure 8 course with cones with plenty of room in between them . Next stop on a ramp without rolling backwards then proceed and last drive over a painting of train tracks which is silly to me . Unsure on current test in SC as this was 25 years ago . I think some states may require a MC driving class which is a great idea for noobs as I have lost too many friends to wrecks on two wheels . I was one of the very first to get a moped license at 14 as SC had just started it before my birthday . Back then a moped was only the pedal type as other 49ccs were considered a small motorcycle but they have grayed the law to include scooters but as long as no faster than 30 MPH . I have heard from many riders that SC has been pulling over those with a generic moped tag that exceed 30 MPH as so many have a moped tag on a 150 which is illegal . I have a MC tag on my 50 since it goes much faster than 30 MPH and I do not have health insurance so I opted for med pay and personal injury protection on my insurance policy like in the event a tire blows out and I have to go to the ER . Best of luck , have confidence and once you get your license drive it like a boss but safely

No set mileage as so many variables like your weight , how fast you drive condition of the road surfaces ETC . Note the Avon tire is a softer compound and will wear out fast from what I read . The stock tires are often hard which means they dp no grip or ride as but but last a while . I would have matching tires on my scooter to be safe .

Yes I do as a precaution since oil is cheaper than a new piston . I like to use Maxxima synthetic blend and Motul 710 . If you use injector make sure the bottle says injector safe instead of premix only

Here is another good place www.motorcycletire.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc? Amazon has tires too . Michelin , Pirelli , and Dunlop are great brands . Kenda is a good midrange tire as many like em . I have Shinkos on my Echarm and wow they are so much better than the crappy ChengShins that came on it

Oh yes make sure to get WATERPROOF gloves and I like to have a lil sleeve too . Decent gloves are 20 to 60 and Ive seen some Alpine Stars for 220 ( yikes ) . Get gloves that are roomy so you can wear glove liners in the winter like Freeze Outs from CylceGear . Much rather buy new gloves than get roadrash on my hands any day
