Yep that's what you're seeing, May 3 2013, snow in NW Arkansas. My wife's friend sent her this picture from NW Arkieland near Fayetteville this morning. I've seen snow in April several times over my years but I can't recall May? My house in Central Arkeiland rain and 39F this morning and rain right now and 44F. I picked a few strawberries yesterday and normally I've already picked gallons by now, they like everything, even the spring nesting birds are confused about this weather? Two days ago sunny, I'm mowing and drinking ice tea to the tune of 90F? Had to actually close the windows and turn on the central heat last night! I'm worried about my grape vines, they are loaded along with my apple, pear, cherry and plum trees. Frost already hurt my early peach trees a couple of weeks ago. Sure glad I waited to plant some of the what is called summer crops? Like I said I'm confused? I remember my wife and grandkids going swimming this time last year. Where is the global warming? JR

Yeah JR, we got a couple inches of that global warming here, too. Today is cold rain instead. Come on, 'fess up. Who ordered more winter? >'Kat

Same crap weather in Wisconsin but thank god it did not snow.
I think a ice age is coming. You see when carbon and methane and other gases get trapped in the the greenhouse it traps heat making it warm the globe not allowing enough gases out to space. These warm gases then melt the ice caps which is fresh water. The fresh water melts into the salty artic ocean which is less dense and slows down the great conveyor belt aka worlds ocean currents which control the jet stream and weather around the globe.
This ice age cycle should be due soon last one was 11,000 years ago. They say once the ocean currents around the world stop due to too much fresh water from the glaciers we get a ice age. The ice age will freeze all the fresh water back up into the ice caps and the cycle starts again.

:'(Last ice age was 11,000 years ago you can come see the glacier trails here in wisconsin if you want. Its a cycle just a matter of time. Don't believe in science then you getting life in prison based on DNA evidence will stun you.

Who knows but heres a theory. www.aip.org/history/climate/cycles.htmThe changes in the atmosphere also answered the old persuasive objection to Milankovitch's theory — if the timing of ice ages was set by variations in the sunlight falling on a given hemisphere, why didn't the Southern Hemisphere get warmer as the Northern Hemisphere cooled, and vice-versa? The answer was that changes in atmospheric CO2 and methane physically linked the two hemispheres, powerfully warming or cooling the planet as a whole. Variations over 420,000 years of CO2, methane(CH4), and temperature, from the Vostok ice core after it reached bedrock (1999): four complete glacial cycles or Ice Ages.

I have noticed for a long time how it seemed to get hotter faster and longer each year compared to when I was a pup . December 21 2012 obviously was not the end of the world but in fact the end of an orbital cycle that takes around 25,600 years . So far it has been nice and cool but more rain than normal . I love riding in the winter and when its cool so I can wear my armor and not burn up . We may very well have another ice age halfway through the cycle as that is when we are the furthest away from the Sun as we are now the closest we get to it in this cycle .
One year my children went to Texas to visit family on my Xs side minutes away from Mexico . Well Christmas Day it was 100 degrees yet the next day it snowed . Wish they could have gotten a white Christmas

[replyingto=skuttadawg]skuttadawg[/replyingto]Very true. When I was a kid (a long time ago) I can remember going trick or treating in the snow! Last year which was an extremely hot and dry one in Arkieland I took my grandkids trick or treating with the air conditioner on! Also the seasons seem to be confused compared to back then? Last year we had virtually no winter, I didn't even have to cover or mulch my strawberry patch, if it stays above 20F then they have no problems at all, they like the cold except when the fruit is on them and they start to ripen. Last year we had record temps in the summer, some records that were broken went back to the late 1800's and I'm talking temps of 115F!, add that to over 13" of below normal rainfall and it adds up to a statewide burn ban, no fireworks on the fourth of July and lots of fires. Over 2k acres burned west of me and got within 5 miles of my house before they got it under control. Lot's of cities went on water rationing, couldn't find a carwash open any where. But we are making up for it now! Had 26" of snow on Christmas day this past Christmas and lot's of rain, got over 3" in the last 3 days and I have over 5 acres to mow, with some in low spots that you would sink out of sight to mow now. Gardens everywhere behind and not doing well. But the pattern for some time now is like now, cold and dreary, and hot like a blow torch in 2 days? Like I said it was 90F here on Monday. Last night I ran my central heat and it's presently 40F and raining, normally I've got the windows open and ceiling fans humming and enjoying the last cool nights of spring. JR

I think the ice age cycle is more natural then manmade. There are thousands of underwater volcanos that are giving up loads of methane which trap much more heat in the greenhouse. It just bubbles up. I think what we are doing is speeding up the process but not by much compared to natural events.
