I was wondering a topic for a new thread. I don't really like to ride in the rain but I will be open to it if I get a pair of rain pants. I would probably welcome the experience. U?

Wear a FF helmet with the shield clean and coated with anti fog treatment like Scotts Antifog from CycleGear which I use . I wear waterproof gloves , boots and longjohns . I keep a poncho under the seat but they blow outward so much I use a belt to wrap around it . My leather coat is waterproof but it needs to be retanned and oiled . Rainsuits get so hot when its warm and humid to where I would rather get wet . Freeze Out longjohn pants and shirt or the one piece are windproof and water resistant . I have worn a Tyvek suit with a hood and booties in a monsoon and had a few ounces of water in my sleeves and water was standing 3 or 4 inches above my ankles inside my suit . The other times it kepy me dry but the rain was blowing in all directions . CycleGear has many suits like I think it is called Road Toad or similar name around 30 or 40 but some suits can be as much as 180 yikes .
The main thing to be concerned with is visibility of ones self to cagers as it poses a greater risk of accident . Stopping distance will be longer with wet brakes . Ride in the tracks of previous cars as the water level with be less in them . I ride on the right side of the lane in order to be in the drivers view of cars behind me . If on a 50 its best yield or wave for cars to pass you by instead of posing a danger by being behind you with so many drunks , dopers and texters on the road these days .
Now I have been caught without a helmet several times and luckily my Oakleys are wrap around design and I have glasses over glasses for my other frames which block wind , rain and dirt from getting in my eyes . I only go 40 MPH when I do not have on a helmet as the rain drops will sting my face . I hit 120 MPH in a storm ( yes I was a crazy teen ) and had dots all over my chest and arms . It felt like I had gotten an all over tattoo .
I only ride if its a have to or close distance to go . Always have a poncho or windbreaker under the seat . Make sure all lights work and that the head light lens is clean too .
Having the stock airbox is great since it prevent rain from getting into the carb and engine . Even with a tarp and in my garage my 2T with Uni I often have to drain water out of the carb bowl after a hard storm . I will be putting the airbox on it soon as that is a bummer to deal with

I used to but I just don't like it anymore. If I need to go to the gas station real quick I will. Sometimes I'll get caught in it, light or heavy, on the way or way back from work.
After a few times of my scooter dying out and not starting for 10-15 minutes from being soaked so bad--- probably the stator or ignition coil boot/wires..maybe cdi, I try to avoid it. That usually only happens if I ride for more than 7-8 miles though in heavy rain.
When my rear tire guard broke, wet dirt and of course water would fling all over the carb and airbox tube area. It rusted my accelerator pump actually, to where it wouldn't move freely anymore. I don't really have to worry about that nearly as much anymore since that's been fixed for awhile. It's still not good for the wires and spark plug boot--- it will tear it up if over time.
It really depends on my mood, but I try to avoid anything over a drizzle anymore. It can be scary if it's super windy.. lol--- as in being caught in a decent thunderstorm, trying to race home in time, or not. I just don't like to leave my scooter anywhere overnight.

Made some good points about water ridin
Stock airbox, check!
I am looking at getting some frog togs ( I think ) at cycle gear. They are breathable so I'll check that out further
Also need the gloves I guess :/

Yes glove can be your best friend when its cold and raining . Make sure to get leather waterproof ones Like my Bilt Hurricanes which have a 5 year warranty for 50 but often half price . CycleGear has boocoos from 20 to 60 as well as Apline Stars for 220 yikes . I like how my have a lil sleeve which prevent water from getting up my arm .
Yes Frog Tog is what I was thinking as Road Toad was a model from the Hodaka Motorcycle Company . They had other colorful names like Dirt Squirt and Combat Wombat . My older brother had a Hodaka back in the 70s

Another good one for riding in the wet is keep your front finder!!! Found that one out after my dog got her runner caught on mine and broke it. The next morning I was leaving work it started raining and I had a pretty nice rooster tail hitting me in the face and chest!

I had a 2 piece rain suit that I used to carry with me, nothing fancy though. Wally World was selling it. It was ok, it got the job done for the most part.
I tried using a heavy duty trash bag from work one time. Hey, it was at night. No one saw me! It didn't work (didn't have high expectations for it to either) and ripped up to where it was basically useless-- within a mile down the road. LOL!
