While my cvt was apart I measured the belt travel on the variotor,it rides at its max exactly .25 inch from the top,my gates belt I'm using is 842-20-30, max speed on flat grade is 57@7240 rpm, using 14g rollers, will a larger belt ride higher thus giving me better top end? If so what size, obviously I don't want too much slack.or is the belt size even what is hindering it from full travel,I need to order some parts today and might as well get on other belt if that will help.

Thanks for the replies,it was my fault when I swapped out the variator for the Koso one I know I did not tighten the nut enough,I was so worried the sound it made was horrific,I was surprised it did not break fins off the variator fan, just scuffed them up some, when I pull it off would it be worth it to coat the splines with anti seize compound?

So this morning I made it prob 500 feet from my garage and I heard this awfull scrapping noise,I shut it off and pushed it home,I removed the cvt cover and turns out the variator nut came loose and allowed the variator fan to hit the inside of the cvt cover,no fins broke off, but you can see where the made contact, now the only issue I see is I pulled off the fan and the drive boss I believe it's called will not budge so now the ramp is not removable it is being held by the drive boss, all the splines look fine so why can't I remove it? I put it all back together and it runs perfect but what if I ever need to replace the back part of the variator,

When oil gets moisture in it,it will become milky white looking,I would guess that's what it is.

Yeah haha I was putting it off for some reason,it went out of Wack just before I put my performance variator on so now maybe I can see if that makes A bigger difference,it was nice to have it fire right up and not have to hold the gas!

So my 150cc was a pita to keep running when cold I have to sit on the the garage and feather the throttle for like fifteen minutes to warm it up enough to run on its own, after the adjustment it was like night and day it would sit and idle like a champ, but onother thing changed also,my compression is considerably higher then before,I don't have a gauge but I could push the kick starter by hand.very easily, now it takes a lot more force, what would adjusting the valves have to do with that?

I work at a garage for a living and 0w20 goes in all the new Toyota's and Honda hybrids, both of which I would imagine have much more precise tolerances then my Chinese scoot,I would absolutely not put that in mine, way to thin.

I have that same variator in my 150cc with 14g rollers, when I tested it I could get to 55@7200 or so but the wind was at my back.now on a flat with no wind I can only get the same results as you and I weigh 195,so I was thinking about going to 12g rollers,I will say my take off is much better now but I would rather have better top end due to the roads I travel,if I could get 7300-7500 I think I would be in better shape to hit closer to 60mph,by the way I have that cheap eBay digital tachometer it has a lag when the rpm changes but it is fairly accurate as compared to the one in my car

I have a 150cc and I will agree I feel like I panic as well and I have 12 inch wheels Wich I'm sure helps, but in all reality if I think back I have never been blown more then prob a foot in either direction at most.I defiantly agree with prodigit about riding in the center especially on windy days, what I really hate the most is head winds, they shave off about 5-10 mph that sucks

I bought a free flowing muffler for my 150cc,it did nothing for performance either positive or negative,I bought it soley for looks and the sound, mine is otherwise stock.well maybe a little better throttle response but it could just seem that way due to the louder tone.
