Here's a video of my 66cc motorized bicycle. It's got a flat right now so I'm just running it on the test stand.

How fast will that go? I'm sure everyone asks that I had a friend drive behind me in his car and I topped out at about 35. I could put a smaller sprocket on the back and go even faster.

WooHoo! VERY cool! SOUNDS like a WWI fighter, LOOKS like a Whizzer... It don't get no better than that! Now, if you'd just turn those handlebars upside down, it would be perfect... LOL! Just for something to think about, I saw a U-Tube vid of a similar bike, with a similar engine conversion, but the engine drove a jackshaft with a major gear-reduction, and the shaft then drove the PEDAL-CRANK, rather than the rear wheel. (The pedals and cranks were removed, leaving only a shaft with the sprockets). While this prevented pedalling the bike, it gave the rider 5 gears, via the rear de-railer shift. The thing took off like a rocket, and hit over 50 mph top end! It was no longer a moped though, being a power-only motorbike. I keep seeing these all over, and one day I suppose I'll just HAVE to make one up, just because they are SO old-school-cool! The bite is that in Texas, if it has a motor, it's a motor-vehicle, requiring title, license and insurance. Sorta negates the benefits of a moped. Nic work! Please post vids of it in action... Leo (lovin' that smell of castor-oil) in Texas!

That is one SERIOUS moped! The one I saw was similar, but THIS one retains the pedals. Not sure just how the clutch and pedals work, but obviously, THEY WORK! Must be a ratcheting front sprocket or something. Pegging that 50 mph speedo is way cool! Doggone thing is almost "freeway capable"...I really wish Texas allowed non-licensed mpeds like some states. Thanks for posting! This will surely inspire anyone who enjoys free-moped laws in their state to consider building one of these for a daily-driver!Thanks again, Leo

I'm still waiting on parts on mine. I got a 29" beach cruiser, and installed a 32T sprocket, instead of the stock 41T sprocket. Theoretically it should give me a top speed of 41-45MPH, which I'll never go that fast; and a gas mileage of ~120-150MPG tops. I haven't taken it out for a spin yet, and it is a 2 stroke though.

THAT will be SHARP! I love the hairpin-spring seat, and the military look, right down to the saddlebags. My Dad rode convoy in WWII on a Harley 45 that resembled what you're building. He would approve! The jackshaft is the cat's butt! Just what the old Whizzer needed, but they hadn't even invented reliable gears yet at that time. The disk-brakes are way cool, but PRICEY! You'll still have your money's worth when it's done though. A neat ride for sure! A build like this would be a real alternative to a 50cc scooter for those wanting something REALLY head-turning! Keep us posted... Leo in Texas
