It really depends on what your looking for,,higher top speed, more cruising torque, alot of variables when choosing a cam. If you are putting a cam in a stock motor and head you wont see much difference at all,,not a good idea to over cam a stock motor cause the air and fuel just wont be there to make it run at full efficiency

You should see about 65- AC volts coming from the stator while cranking the motor with on switch in the off position. On most scoots it should be the red wire next to the black one on the two way plug at the top of the CDI,,the black one next to the red goes to the on/off run switch..if you see .16-.25 AC volts thats more than likely the wire that goes to the pick up coil. Here is the video I posted,,i really like this video as the dude shows some values to look for as well,,he cover it all pretty well..I know its for a 150 but the readings will be pretty much the same,,just have to figure out your configuration..

Check the evap system if its still on there, the gas could still be sloshing up through the vent,,I removed mine cause it was lower than the vent and the can got flooded out with gas if I filled the tank to top.I use a short fuel hose from the tank vent and a small gas filter on the end,,then zip tie the filter higher than the tank vent outlet. No more spill or drips onto my CVT case. Also check fuel pump/petcock,all lines, bowl gasket area, fuel inlet nipple on carb, and tank seams... Might be your issue but might not....good mod either way

Thanks Rexxk... jerseyboy ever since I put the BBK on the kick starter hardly kicks at all..... 10-4 brother,, The GY6 has alot of compression for a little motor,,I was surprised how much compression they have,,I love the GY6 motor,,for its size its the best motor around HP and RPM wise..yup!! The Chinese should beef up the kick start assembly some though...

I think I will just pull the kick start out....never works right for me anyway.... The kick starters are only there if you need it in an emergency,,mine works ok,,but I can tell its made of glass, anytime I used it which was only maybe 3 times,,I would push down slowly until it was fully engaged,,then I would give it a nice smooth push with my leg,,seemed to work ok but made some slipping/crunching sounds once in a while

You can get a new 50 for $600 and change...so I would say no more than $300-$400 for a chinese 50 used...I would not pay more than $250.

John here on the forum has great parts,,no fakes,,also scooter elements was great to deal with but they are going through a change now,,think Walter is going to start his own co. and let us know eventually.I did find a few good dealers of parts on ebay but its been so long I forget who they where.
Maybe I will start a new thread on ebay sellers people have used and we can trust,,that would be a great idea cause I see complete engines on there for $300 new in crate,,cant beat that!

Yeah really,, I dont think they will be as much as the other higher quality scoots but I think the price will definitely go up..was just reading the other day about rear disk and people wishing the chinese would put them on the scoots. Its good to see more technology going into their work.Seems like the chinese have the technology to build great quality products,,I just hope they keep the basic stuff available for guys like us who like to tinker,,ya know

Thats true,,he would have noticed it long ago...the wheel bearings are rather easy to get at,,I would just remove the wheel then check the bearings with my fingers,,pretty sure its a cheap fix

Yeah man,, I'm going to order a 842 and see how it works,,I read if the scoot has an 835 you can use both,,so we shall see. If it doesn't work that will give me a reason to get a 115 mm as well,,guess i should measure mine first..lol Thanks for the reply brother

I had a 02'Kawasaki Ninja 900R that did well into the low 10's in 1/4 mile,,also a couple Harleys and a big Honda VTX 1800. The Ninja would do over mph in first gear and had six...I sold them all,,this 150 scooter is no where close the speed of any of those bikes but on a fun level from one to ten its a 20,,If something where to happen to it,,I would buy a new one tomorrow. Most fun I ever had on a two wheeled motorized bike is a chinese scooter,,and for $1000 you just have to LYAO all the way down the road when the big dawgs wont wave anymore Funny thing is when nobody else is around and its just me passing up one other bike on the road early in the morning he will wave,,but when they are with friends in a group they never wave,,so that tells me its all about impressing their friends, being too cool to wave at a scooter,I assume they all have the small you know what syndrome.. Everywhere I go people are asking me where I got it,how much,do you need a license, how fast does it go,,it gets more attention than any of my other big bikes ever did,,I must have sold 15 of these taotao's in the last 2 years for the vendor.

It may have been a bad pick up coil I have seen them work until the motor gets hot then quit as well...
I know its an old thread but just wanted to add that in case..

Nice,,scrappy is pretty good to deal with from what I read. They are all usually tubless unless otherwise stated but i would double check.Make sure you clean the rim real well where the bead sits,,and put a new valve stem in while you have the tire off..these scoot tires will kick your butt taking them on/off .
