I washed it,brushed protectant on all my rubber except tires, checked oil, kicked the tires and rode with the wind Oh yeah,, I stuck my finger inside the tailpipe and wiped to see if it was running a little rich..hehehe...its running pretty sweet,,if I was not so lazy I might up the pilot jet one of these days,,and i plan on doing a GPS run tomorrow to see how fast it will go and compare to the speedo..

Almost sounds like its lean,,only way to tell is a plug chop.Make sure you have no air leaks on intake, also sounds like the slide might be hanging up,,not sure..are you getting good fuel flow to carb,,maybe tank vent is clogged or fuel pump is flakey.First thing I did was install a petcock and throw that pump in the trash.Still might put a better quality pump on it someday..
I would check valves while I was at it and go over the entire thing with a fine tooth comb,,sounds like a golden screwdriver had it before you did...

I had my battery on a tender all Winter,,Im gonna see how many years I can get out of it,,I read most get between one to two years,,bet I get more...lol Hey Alley,, How does your oil look after 1000 miles,I was changing mine every 1000km and its just getting brown,,prolly overkill huh? Its so cheap I figure what the heck ya know,,plus it gives me something to buy when the ole lady is shopping at Wally

Haha,,good deal,,yeah if they are the stock chinese tires and you tend to favor one side more than the other they will wear harder on that side.I switched out my stock tires with Kenda's and love em so far,,they are not the best but way better than the stock rubber...never had a slip and I push them to the point of scrapping my stand all the time

Do you take hard left hand turns more often? Was the scoot ever in a wreck, does the rear tire track directly behind the front? Only reason I ask is because I am more comfortable leaning to my left than right...also what pressure are you running?

Yeah the short ones work fine just have to bend them to the side to inflate and check,,its a good idea to hit them with some silicone or protectant once in a while to prevent the rubber from dry rotting I use a small brush from HF and brush the protectant on all rubber surfaces(except for tires!!),,no cracks yet and all my rubber looks better than new

IDK man,, I have had my china scooter for 2 years and don't wrench on it at all unless Im changing the oil or upgrading. I expected more wrenching to be honest,,but I guess if you do all your wrenching properly in the beginning(PDI upgrades)you really wont be doing much more for a while,,unless you abuse( dont know how to ride or treat the motor harshly

I never had a problem with any of my OEM bolts,,like said earlier,,as long as you don't go over tightening them they are quite good.Although I would like to see a stainless or upgraded(grade 8)type kit for when I build my racing motor.

Wow,, I cant believe he got 68K miles out of it,,SYM is good but not that good...lol I also was surprised it did so much miles, and it's still running. Just need to make sure there is enough oil inside. Yeah man,, Mine is chinese and never uses any oil between changes(every 1000km),,might blow a little out of the vent when cruising over 45 mph but only a drip or two in a 40 mile trip,,prolly cause I have it slightly over filled

I ride about 4x per week short errands and a joy ride or two. 2012 Tao Tao CY-50a. 4103km = 2549 miles so far. Talk about a tale of two scooters; I have the same year/model as you, and have 8,700km ~5.4k miles on mine! Got it July 4th, 2012. Have put a buttload of parts in to try to make it a quality ride. It sort of is now. I almost trust it. LMAO!! Thats how I am with mine,,put all kinds of upgrades into it and sort of trust it,,I still find myself gritting my teeth every now and then,,guess the old china girl needs to prove herself to me a little more before I trust her...LOL.Im not to worried about a coil pack,CDI,belt,or something minor failing.Just want to avoid the big loud clanking noises after the cloud of smoke and oil running on the ground..lol Only problem I have had so far is my fuel tank sending unit went out,,or maybe its the gauge,,not sure,,but after looking at it Im not really ready to take it apart yet.Maybe next Winter..
