Hey bro's, I was watching a tube video today and the guy had the same long case 150 I have,,he changed out a belt without removing the variator. Just by squeezing the clutch as hard as he could so the belt fell all the way to the bottom of the pulley gave him enough slack to walk the belt right off the variator without any problem at all.I tried this on mine and there was no way..he said his belt size was 842-20-30 mine is 835-20-30 so his is 7 mm longer obviously giving him the necessary slack needed to accomplish this. My question is,, Can I use a longer belt on my machine so i can achieve this repair on the road if need be easier than bringing tools to remove the variator nut? If so,,what would be the difference in using a longer belt vs. a shorter one,,possibly more top speed? Thanks to all in advance!! Tommy

I use an 842 also but I also have a 115 mm variator and drive face , I have never been able to pull my belt over the variator . I've seen the videos also.

Yeah man,, I'm going to order a 842 and see how it works,,I read if the scoot has an 835 you can use both,,so we shall see. If it doesn't work that will give me a reason to get a 115 mm as well,,guess i should measure mine first..lol Thanks for the reply brother

Yeh as long as you have a long case the 842 will work , I've even tried an 847 but I had a little to much slack at takeoff . It would probably work better with the other variator I have that I posted in the other thread . The belt rides higher on the variator at takeoff and I'd probably get good climb out of it . And wouldn't be two loose .

I was able to take my 842 off without removing the variator face. It was an NCY face, but I can't imagine it being smaller than a stock one.
