It also depends on your altitude. being at sea level in VA Beach...what teddy said should work. I was stationed at Naval Weapons Station Yorktown for 3 years...my gf was from VA Beach...man I miss her and the walks along the boulevard...just not trying to ride a 50cc Scooter on Princess Anne or London Bridge Blvd's...cars will run you off the road or right over ya..and keep going. We used to set our crab pots out...go for a ride...come back to 3-4 dozen nice Blue Crabs and head home with a tasty feast. Thinking of moving down there now that I am retired from the military....she keeps asking me to...and I miss that place bunches...

Is it right is a tough question...it all depends on your variator rollers weight...clutch spring rate and contra spring rate. If yours revs that high..your take off should be quick..then about 25-30..you should feel a "shift' where your rpm's slow down and speed begins to climb slowly. It's all in how you tune it or how it comes tuned from the factory.

[replyingto=spandi]spandi[/replyingto]Because...Japan has contracts with China to make their parts as it is cheaper....they are mostly just assembled in Japan..then sold for a higher price to increase their profit margin. According to my wholesaler MANY Harley parts are now made in China. She said her annual revenue is about 30% Harley parts sold to the U.S. Mirrors.....lighting....electrical parts...carbs and other parts are made there..shipped here...then 'Assembled' ...not 'Built' in the U.S. This too gives them a higher profit margin. Not bad mouthing Harley...I owned a 1995 Sportster 883.Yes I know the 883 gets called a "Girls Bike" by Hawg owners because it is not 1,200cc..lol.. but I am only 5' 8" and a 145lbs. I tried a Super Glide but was too big for me. Of course they depreciate more slowly than Chinese scoots.. New price was $4,395 rode it for 18 years. A guy wanted it badly for his wife because the 'Lake Placid Blue' sparkle paint was a rare option. Sold it for $3,600. So in reality I lost nothing. I got 18 years of riding for the price difference of $795. But he was happy because it was way less than the new price at that time..which was right at $,7000 if I remember correctly. But I love my Chinese scoots. Low cost and really decent scoots if you take care of them. Price is right..and that how we ended up with a family fleet of 5...had they been Japanese we'd only afford 2 and there would be no family rides to the beach etc... To be honest we've never really had a a major prob with any of them...just minor easy fixes. So ya won't hear me complain..

You lucky bugger! Standard VAT (sales tax) in the UK is 20%! Some things get a concession, but not many. And that includes online sales. FPMSLOL. You gotta love you liberals at times. Just be glad you're not riding/driving on roads. Then you'd know about taxation as a form of slavery. You Yanks (a term of endearment from this Limey) don't know how easy you've got it! Ian I seam to remember that we went to WAR with the British 237 Year's ago for almost the exzact same thing. American's are a sleep at the wheel. As long as we can get gas for our vehicels, food in our belly, lickour and toilet paper. We will Bhich, moan & complain but never do anything to ghange it. Now let not be able to get the fore mentioned items & I Bet you we will go to War. Next they will Tax the air we breath. shhh omg....do not...say 'Free Air' that we breathe..if the Gov finds out oxygen is free.....they will attach an 'Environmental Resources Usage Tax' on us...for that...

In my 1 gal tank I poured in ~1/4th of the bottle. The bottle is meant for upto a 20gal tank, but if you increase the ratio a bit, doesn't harm. Replace that 4 oz of sea foam with Xylene. Not only will you have a super clean carb...your octane will be higher..and BTU's higher...so you will have a cleaner carb..no pump gas ping...and a power increase from the additional BTU's. a 3 in 1 deal!.

Starting feel bad..and wonder what is up. I hope I am not annoying or angering folks...but it seems like whenever we get a good discussion going. I make a post and the majority of the time..nobody posts after I do...the thing just slowly scrolls down the main page and disappears. My sincere apology if I am saying something wrong etc. If so please let me know and I will filter what I say...or whatever needs to be done. As I said it just feels as if I am killing good discussions. Sorry folks, Glenn..

DX Both of those will cause a sluggish midrange. The rollers...because that is where you feel that 'shift' where your rpms drop..then slowly climb back up.

About 1/2 way down the page... www.power-barn.com/servlet/the-Intake-and-Fuel-cln-Jetting/CategoriesAlso you have an A/F screw...that is what it is for...slight changes in low end by regulating air or fuel to the engine. In our 2T carbs it regulates fuel...in the typical 4T carb it regulates air.(somebody PLEASE correct me if I got that backwards..as I do suffer memory issues.) Have you tried adjusting that? Or most likely you have one of the sealed Tao Tao carbs with a cap over the screw..or some with no screw at all...

Similar engine here. I premix at 32:1 because my pump failed and the screws to replace it will not budge...stripped the heads as even a hand held "hit with a hammer" type impact wrench won't work. Which is odd because that is what is used to remove Phillips head screws to separate the cases on Motorcycle engines. Your oil reservoir has a cap on it of course...with a small hole or vent. Make sure that is not plugged or oil won't flow well with the cap on. Check for flow from the reservoir with the cap off...if it flows...problem solved. Also make sure you are using 2T oil 1. because it is thinner and flows easier..2. cause 4T oil will carbon up and or seize a 2T engine as it is not designed to burn properly like 2T oil. I have seen folks use 4T oil...it would flow out of the reservoir tubing..but was too viscous for the pump to push out of the injector line connecting to the carb..at more than a drop or 2 per minute with engine running 1/2 throttle or more even. Keep us posted on what you find out. Glenn

[replyingto=hank]hank[/replyingto]Here in Michigan our lights are controlled by timers. In fact if you stand on the sidewalk near the large green box you can hear them ticking..must be like a relay?? or something. Anyway use a stop watch and stand there a bit...time the duration of each light. No matter if it is a bicycle or Semi...they duration is the same. Only time they alter from that is at midnight....when they just become flashing lights.

None of our 5 scoots has painted inside tank..nor did any car I ever owned as gasoline removes paint as well. I use Chemtool-B12 as carb soak as someone mentioned above. I no longer use it in the tank as the Xylene is a solvent and keeps the carb super clean. If it was a bad thing and ate rubber seals etc... Race Car drivers would not be using it. Who wants to be in the lead..one lap to go..and it eats your intake gasket or fuel lines? Human nature is that we always "Nay Say" that which we have not tried...don't understand...fear the end results....or cannot justify it with what we think to be logic. For us to think outside the box is not common..because it disrupts our already established knowledge base..opinions or conceptions of all things we believe in. Yes I run a solvent in my gas. But how does that differ from Sea Foam or B-12 being as they are solvents as well? Here is why..it comes in can labeled "add to gas at xx%" So since the can says it's ok and the ads say it's ok...then..well..it's ok. We take that for granted. But to introduce something such as Xylene..we go against it...because we are too busy trying to find fault in it..as it does not come labeled as "add to gas"..plus our human nature as I stated above...will NOT allow us to accept that which we have never heard of..or thought of. Think for a moment and you will realize we all fear new things...to the point even that we do our best to find reasons it is bad or wrong..vice actually looking into it. Sort of.."Hmm..it's new or different..f that...it won't work..it's no good" So what occurs is that the growth of our intellect..is shut off...denied or shunted by our current intellect. Ironic is it not? Here is a Chippewa proverb translated that sheds more light... "Never WASTE your time, trying to come up with hundreds of reasons why something may not work or benefit you. Instead, INVEST your time in search, because you only need to find ONE good reason why it will enhance you or your endeavor" Kekylita ashadii mutobahanik bebegala ayo <-- We learn from our eyes and ears, not from our mouths.

I did fill it up yesterday before I put it away and not all the way full. Most likely the problem. They have an overfill vent in the tank(dumb idea..like you can't see when the d@mn thing is full? ) Anyway..if you fill it..say..on the center stand..then park it on the side stand..gas will come out the overflow vent. But then of course you can even fill it on the side stand..then park it that way..and the slight amount of expansion if it is warm out...will let it seep out that vent. When I suspect a leak...before I go to bed I fold a paper towel in 1/4 size...lay it under the carb...then check it the next morning to see if it is a carb leak. The fuel tank vent leak is further back in your frame..so look for a wet spot on the concrete for that.

Missouri would charge me 7% of total cost. You lucky bugger! Standard VAT (sales tax) in the UK is 20%! Some things get a concession, but not many. And that includes online sales. Ian...sad part is the Colonists left England to avoid excessive taxes on the poor..and lenient upon the wealthy...and where did it lead them 240 years later...right back where they came from. We Native Americans survived thousands of years without taxes. But there was a sense of pride...honor and duty in which those who had tangible items donated them to those tribal members without. There was no rich or poor...as everybody was an equal. Resources that were tribally owned were regulated by the Chief in a fair and equal manner. Not saying we can live as America that way today..but I am saying we certainly lack that sense of pride..honor and duty and are also segregated in financial classes where the low income support the wealthy by money they pay in..and tax breaks the wealthy take in. Yet here is the part that really gets me... The wealthy people..corporations etc. Always make remarks about those on Public assistance programs...saying "Must be nice..we have to support them" When in reality their tax breaks and Gov bail outs provide that group of citizens nothing..it is we low...middle..and upper middle income that dole out the money for these programs. As Paul Harvey used to say at the end of his commentaries.."And now....you know....the rest of the story"......
