DX The coated tip lights do seem useless. Tried one on a customer Scoot..you get a "bowl" of light..not a focused beam per se... waterboysh..told ya they would cost less....and they are one of the few rare things NOT made in China cheap quality that we buy these days.

ok teddy il put my 88mj back its only a experiment for me how it will work, did not do anything 95mj consume gas quick. To carasdad men your right thats what i am going to do this summer going to ocean front w/ my scoot.i am on the kempsville area so i have to tune my scoot really good so i can keep on the traffic in dam neck rd.i used to go to shore drive, starfish rd. for crabbing w/in an hour your big bucket is full of crab(july-aug) best mo.we have 2 scooter shop now her but they are selling most chinese scooter.sandbridge is nice place to scoot too nice condos. Sand Bridge is nice...ya get to cruise the beach and look at $500,000 Condos that you could own easily...well..that is IF you win the PowerBall Lottery.. I would avoid Dam Neck..especially if you are going anywhere near the Naval Air Station area. That base is old it needs to be torn down. None of the buildings on it have Romex type wiring..it's all that OLD fabric covered wiring..and most of it is just sticking out of walls and light fixtures. Talk about a safety hazard...eeesh. At their AIMD(Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Divison) Everytime the big air compressor kicked on..the lights would really dim! It made you feel like George Washington...reading with candle light. As for your jet..YES you are right that # MJ does suck the gas!! I use a #87.5 in mine. With the # ..no ..while riding..you could see the gas gauge move like you were driving a Chevy 350 4 door Dual Wheel Truck.. Ok not quite as much but my guess-stimate put me at less than 40 mpg.. Btw....Kempsville is a nice area..so I know you are not a Peasant.. ;D But traffic can be congested...and in the summer all those Tourists seem to think road signs and traffic lights...are merely suggestions...not actually a law..sumpin like that huh?.. THUMP... &^%$#@ Speed Bump.."No Harry you just ran over 2 Scooters and 3 Pedestrians"...

I had sealed bearings that were essentially rusted "shut" (on a new bike! ) I tapped them out with a brass drift pin and replaced them with a set of Japanese bearings. (it wasn't hard to do.) Same here...fresh from the crate and seized front bearings. $7.99 ea + $3.99 shipping ea. from Chinese parts vendors. So went into town to the bearing dealer and got 2 Timken 6202rs bearings for $2.99 ea...$5.98 total..and they are NOT Chinese made garbage... So just find the number on your bearings and look up bearing dealers locally..cheaper price...better quality..and you get them today..not 7-10 days...or if from China 25-30 days..

one issue i had was that i was getting all the correct voltage numbers but couldnt for the life of me get spark, replaced the cdi and she fired right up, now with a different scoot im having a no spark but power isnt getting to the coil + either from the cdi... so im assuming thats bad but i just want everyones input, and please dont link a how to troubleshoot no spark, ive already got the whole document memorized, i just want personal experiences "one issue i had was that i was getting all the correct voltage numbers but couldnt for the life of me get spark, replaced the cdi and she fired right up" see you had the right voltage so that was your problem..the CDI. "now with a different scoot im having a no spark but power isnt getting to the coil + either from the cdi... so im assuming thats bad but i just want everyones input, and please dont link a how to troubleshoot no spark, ive already got the whole document memorized" Since you have it memorized..and followed it...you should have your problem solved right? Ok no power to coil...or from CDI... so what is next in line to check? Answer= Is there power TO the CDI.....if not you won't get any spark...right? So having the 'whole document memorized' which wire provides current to the CDI?..and what does it show when you check it? If it shows the proper current TO the CDI...the CDI is bad..if it shows no current from the stator to the CDI....what do you think is wrong?... You already have your answer.. ;D

Technically..........that wasn't a war, that was a terrorist insurgency, illegally supported by the French! But we're all friends now. Except the French. Ian Of course we'er friends Ian, after all, Winston Churchill's mom was an AMERICAN ;D (and who can figure out the French anyways?) While in the Military and over seas...I took a French Self Defense course...but all that running was exhausting..

This thread was ripe for highjacking. Couldn't have happened to a nicer thread... Can we carry on with the ridiculousness now I don't think anyone is watching... Not watching because of the exhaustion..many folks experience 'Jet Lag' like symptoms at 60mph on 2 wheels. urbanmadness ...was a joke..and correct a gy6 50 cannot handle 10k+..we are talking..a literal grenade right under yer crotch. properly tuned 2T handle it well however.

I love to bust liars who say their 50 can do 60 when they fizzle at 40 . My 2T with a BBK I can ride it on the interstate with no problems since it has 13s instead of 10s and as much more stable So..what are you saying...that 10,800 rpm is too much for a stock 4T? It will get you to right near 60mph...the stock tach ends at 10,000...so just paint the extra 800 over on the ride side of it...simple. see...

Anybody seriously tryina go 60 on a 50cc frame... jeez godspeed. I used to think it wasn't a big deal to push these scoots but I had some scary wobble at around 50 MPH a few weeks ago and will never again push it like that... My Verona 150, flat out will do 57 (gps) on a level road, and seems pretty stable even with it's 10" wheels. What I did notice is the brakes are not up to the task. The front on is OK, but the back one at that speed is pretty much worthless. When she was stock, she'd do 53 and the brakes felt fine... that extra 5mph makes a difference. I feel it's at its limit. So, if I want more out of it, it's gonna be time to sell it and get a helix. (or keep it and get a helix) Or time to really start modifying the touring 150. Gotta tell ya, I'm leaning more towards the Helix every day.... The look is even growing on me (and I hated it to start with) 57mph is pretty good....but then you a 100cc's above a stock GY6 50 that does 60 mph. The Helix is not too bad looking of a scoot...but the ones that make me chuckle are the Honda Elite's...first time I saw one I thought it was an older snowmobile coming down the road....in mid summer.. man did that thing confuse me..a big ole box with 2 wheels under it..

Wait we have people on here who do 60 on a ATM 50 like daily. Will it go that fast if you increase the tire pressure to 40psi, I think that may be the secret... Oh crap...Gary left out tire pressure!!! That does now that you mention it..make certain stock scoots hit 60 mph on a daily basis..know what?..forget 40 psi..tomorrow I am pumping mine up to 80 psi to get twice the speed...120mph..although my tires are rated at 90mph.. But he did suggest Nitrogen..what it does in cars...scoots and motorcycles I have no clue. But we did use it in aircraft tires in the military due to altitude and atmospheric conditions. I never can get my scoot airborne..so maybe I don't need it?.. On a serious note...why Nitrogen in land based vehicle tires? What does it do that air can't do?

I was recentely pulled over by a state trooper and was ask to provide license plates and insurance on one of my scoots I politely informed the trooper I was unaware if the vehicle needed plated since the dealer did not provide a temporary tag. Post a link to your state laws to help us ill informed. I always get the same stuff here in Michigan.."Wheres the plate" "Wheres your helmet" "Show me the insurance" "You can't ride that on any road where the speed limit is above 45mph" <--Reality is the only place you cannot ride one is on the Interstate. So I keep a copy of the Michigan DOT laws regarding Scooters/Mopeds under my seat to show them I am within the law. But they sure get rude n p!ssy when ya do show them... But hey....I refuse to waste a day in court for no reason but to be found innocent of nothing...and it spares them from looking like an idiot before the judge...so you'd think they would be happy...

Ya gotta love Math Geeks... Just out of curiosity I ask my bud with his ink pen filled pocket protector if a stock 50 could go 60mph even under ideal conditions with no wind. He is also a good Scoot mechanic and can do THE fastest BBK install I've ever seen. Just over an hour.. He has a Sunny and his wife has an ATM-50. He said both have the same gearing...CVT and rear pulley size as well as tire circumference with the 3.50-10 tires. A longggggg.....conversation ensues over the phone as he measures CVT and rear pulley max travel...gear ratio....tire circumference...belt width and more...as I nearly fell asleep...lmao. Finally he said..."It will take right at 10,800 rpm for them to hit 60mph even down hill with no wind, so good luck trying, it's your engine not mine. You could gear up 26% but would have no take off and only hit that speed on a long steep down grade" I told him it was not for me..it was that many times folks ask in different forums if they can get theirs to go that fast with just a BBK. In which he explained..what I already knew..that a BBK will add a tad more speed...but not 60 mph worth. So any body that is willing to run 10,800 rpm..you could possibly do it...just make sure you have an extra engine at home... ;D He said his best estimate is it would take a 52mm BBK as you would need the torque for a 25% or better gearing upgrade....oversize variator with good quality sliders..not the generic green cheapies on Ebay and a stroker cranksahft...but even then you are pushing the envelope. I know Larry from the old scootdawg built one...and I think millsc is right on the heals of that elusive 60mph some folks seek. So millsc is the go to man if that is what ya seek. Because while you are running stock or close to it...60 is outta the question unless you can wind up to 10,800 rpm...and I don't even run my 2T that high..although I have read articles where racers can hit 14,000 rpm on a 2T...but they are sponsored and get a free new engine every race. Hey any of you Vendors out there wanna be my sponsor??... ;D....

My gf's was off by 10 mph pretty much across the board. Speedo needle is just pressed on.. Soo I pulled the needle off...used needle nose pliers to turn the shaft back to what I guessed was 10 mph. It ended up being only 1-2 mph off.GPS after that. Didn't have to mess up a pretty dash panel with a Sharpie marker or paint to make new numbers.. ;D
