Online stores, may have to charge sales tax on items sold in 45 States. This would effect the scooter online stores also as well as scooter industry too. This would mean if I purchased a new 49cc scooter, well Missouri would charge me 7% of total cost. What are your thoughts about this? Attachments:

[replyingto=scooter12]scooter12[/replyingto]To be honest...I think it sux. I get a paycheck..that gets taxed..I invest some of it...that gets taxed...I take the money out..it becomes an income..so it is taxed again...then I take that same money and buy more tools for my shop..and that gets taxed. All that money we give them and they are still broke and have a deficit...we ourselves can't live on a deficit. Btw these are the same people that tell us the economy is tight and WE should learn to spend properly to avoid not making OUR ends meet. huh?? So to answer your question...NO..we give them enough money. We GIVE 7 Billion dollars to Brazil to build an Aquarium..and my Grand Kids have to sell baked home goods in front of stores....collect cans and bottles from the roadside( 10 cent deposit on them here in Michigan) and hold Car Washes for donations...just to buy their Soccer uniforms and equipment. Now what the is wrong with this picture?

You pay tax in a store. I guess they will leave the mom and pop shops alone if their sales are lower than a few million. But the only reason left to buy online will be convenience only.

Just another way to make a buck but for people like me who shop a lot online there will still be savings and here's an example. I just today found and bid on a new 42" ceiling fan 3-speed, with the light kit on Ebay. Won the bid at $32.39 which included shipping. Now the same size fan at Wally World or Lowes will run you even on sale $45+. So add 7% sales tax to my fan purchase and you've got roughly $34.66 invested. But here is where I come out, nearest Walmart is 16 miles away, nearest Lowes is over 45 miles away.
How much gas or wear and tear on your vehicle to travel to get the fan even if you found it for the same price would it cost? Nope not me, I'll let UPS wear their vehicles out and the cool thing is if your stuff arrives damaged then refuse it and go get your money back and life goes on. A tax will not stop me from saving mileage on my vehicles and money shopping online.

Well, I know what you mean, JR... I bought a new sticker for my scooter.. $4.51 including free shipping. The shipment is coming from Hong Kong China.. I ordered it on the 3rd of May and estimated time of delivery is the 29th of May - 14th of June. Have to ship it over to America by real ship. lol... Too cheap to pass up on.. The decal was of a blue flame.. 18" x 3.5", and 6" x 1.5".. 2 of each size.. Some things are to good to pass up.

taxes are a form of slavery. as long as the majority continue to bend over and take it then the wealthy will continue to take more of your money. yep, i said wealthy not government. sure the government is the one creating the tax laws but that money ends up in the billionaire's pocket.

This shouldn't be any surprise, you should have seen this coming many miles off. Times are changing, brick and mortar is dying (shopping malls ARE dead) with online sales becoming more and more the dominant way to shop, how else did you expect the tax man to makeup the shortfall? (btw, just ask yourself, where are you reading this right now?)

how else did you expect the tax man to makeup the shortfall? no matter how much they tax they will always spend more. how can they do this... because money isn't real, central banks create it out of thin air, loan it to your government and then take an unjustified interest payment. shortfall? this is the sort of thing they want you to believe to get more of your money.

By "Shortfall" I meant the revenue no longer being collected by retail stores that no longer exist.

I pay taxes on most online purchases already, here is what i don't understand they make me the very poor guy to pay all the taxes on everything but the person or company selling the good pay hardly any taxes on on the amount of money the bring in, why not go after these big billion dollar companies that do everything possible not to pay taxes, google,wal-mart, amazon, apple

Because billion dollar companies own the legislators.

JR..it won't stop me from shopping neither...as I do agree that many things I buy online are because I don't want to drive 40-45 mins and cost as have to add my gas cost to the items retail cost. @ spandi... I did see it coming..knew it was. Yes they lose money from brick n mortar sales. It is not that I give up money to them...it is that they give up our money to others and what is kept...gets spent wastefully...do like spoiled 5 yo child in a soy store..they want more."I want that..I want that too..boo hoo I want more toys I will just give away to the neighbor kid..or break as soon as I get it..then want more" Lately everyone wants and needs more money..it's how the economy is..but why punish is by taking more money when it is not our fault the money blown frivolously. You can bet large companies and the wealthy will be exempt or somehow granted a loophole for this new tax. All Governing bodies are needing more money..down to the State...County..and even township level. I have a bud that is a recent Retired State Trooper. ok again this is how the wealthy get over on things. The local law enforcement(and most of them do not agree with this or like it..but are told to by superiors) Anyway..they have a "Hit of the week list" This where they pull out old or seldom used laws and over enforce them in small farming townships...or other low income communities. Last week it was if you were parallel parked and did not signal when pulling away from the curb.. One lady sat in town her entire shift and handed tickets out for that alone. The week before my bud told me it was the '3 second rule' At a stop sign or flashing light indicating a stop until you were sure there was not oncoming traffic..you must be stopped a minimum of 3 seconds. They used digital stop watches as 'evidence'..sat behind the Church and doled out tickets all day. This week it is something new..ryan52 on here is my friend and lives 1/2 mile from me. We do not know what the "Hit of the week is this week'..but in about an hours time riding in and around town..we saw 7 or more folks stopped and being ticketed. I followed one guy to the gas station to ask him what it was about and that were stopping folks left and right...handing out tickets. He told me it was because one of his 2 license plate bulbs were out. Tag was still readable but one bulb was blown. So it seems that is the "Hit of the week" Ok sure..yes all Governing agencies do need more money...but they need to get it like we have to get ours... SPEND WITHIN REASON AND WITHIN YOUR BUDGET...not piddle it away then collect more from others that are budgeting their money in a tough economy. That is akin to the fat playground bully at school that eats his lunch...then beats up other kids for theirs. Laws and Policies were written to be enforced across the board....not so you can overspend...then take from the low income and the wealthy became exempt. Sure Robin Hood was fictitious..but I liked his policy.."I steal from the Rich and give to the Poor".... Let them see what it is like.

Missouri would charge me 7% of total cost. You lucky bugger! Standard VAT (sales tax) in the UK is 20%! Some things get a concession, but not many. And that includes online sales. FPMSLOL. You gotta love you liberals at times. Just be glad you're not riding/driving on British roads. Then you'd know about taxation as a form of slavery. You Yanks (a term of endearment from this Limey) don't know how easy you've got it! Ian
