I'm not sure they'll be able to levy a tax on out of the U.S. sales? Unless the company has headquarters in the U.S? Also correct me if I'm wrong, I believe the bill to charge tax is on the level of giving the states the power to charge a tax and not a federal level? If it's state only then mine would be 6.5%. I pay more tax in Arkieland but that includes county, and some city taxes, generally it's around 9% give or take depending on where you live?

Missouri would charge me 7% of total cost. You lucky bugger! Standard VAT (sales tax) in the UK is 20%! Some things get a concession, but not many. And that includes online sales. Ian...sad part is the Colonists left England to avoid excessive taxes on the poor..and lenient upon the wealthy...and where did it lead them 240 years later...right back where they came from. We Native Americans survived thousands of years without taxes. But there was a sense of pride...honor and duty in which those who had tangible items donated them to those tribal members without. There was no rich or poor...as everybody was an equal. Resources that were tribally owned were regulated by the Chief in a fair and equal manner. Not saying we can live as America that way today..but I am saying we certainly lack that sense of pride..honor and duty and are also segregated in financial classes where the low income support the wealthy by money they pay in..and tax breaks the wealthy take in. Yet here is the part that really gets me... The wealthy people..corporations etc. Always make remarks about those on Public assistance programs...saying "Must be nice..we have to support them" When in reality their tax breaks and Gov bail outs provide that group of citizens nothing..it is we low...middle..and upper middle income that dole out the money for these programs. As Paul Harvey used to say at the end of his commentaries.."And now....you know....the rest of the story"......

You gotta love you liberals at times. Just be glad you're not riding/driving on British roads. Then you'd know about taxation as a form of slavery. You Yanks (a term of endearment from this Limey) don't know how easy you've got it! Ian That's the problem. We don't want America to become like the UK. Yes we are lucky, and there is no other place in the world I'd want to live.. Oh yeah, there are other places I'd love to visit, UK being one of them, most certainly, but I love America. Unfortunately it is quickly becoming a nanny state, where taxes are used to modify behavior or have the citizenry meet the states expectations. /end rant

Well, another thing to remember, is if this bill passes the Senate, well it still has to pass Congress. Congress is more likely to not like the new tax on online products. People mainly shop online to get deals. With paying a tax, might cause people to quit spending online. Hurt businesses across the board..

I run an ecommerce store at work, same thing here, everyone gets it tax free but the people who live in our same state pay just like if they bought retail.

Just be glad you're not riding/driving on British roads. Then you'd know about taxation as a form of slavery. the british have taxed it's people longer than america so it doesn't surprise me that your taxes are higher. every country is heading in that direction, it is a slow process. they can't just go from zero tax to 80% tax, the people wouldn't allow it but raise them slowly or add new taxes and those royal families will end up with all the money eventually.

American's are a sleep at the wheel. As long as we can get gas for our vehicels, food in our belly, lickour and toilet paper. We will Bhich, moan & complain but never do anything to ghange it. Now let not be able to get the fore mentioned items & I Bet you we will go to War. Next they will Tax the air we breath.

In reality here is the way it is. Robinhood did not steal from the rich and give to the poor. He stole the tax money and gave it back to the poor people. All governments have the position that the land barons did 1000 years ago. The country is theirs and the serfs living there will do what the rulers will tell them to do, period.
I feel sorry for our friends in the more socialistic countries of the world. They have it as we will have it in a few more years. Seems we fought a revolution to get away from it but are now running towards it.

I seam to remember that we went to WAR with the British 237 Year's ago Technically..........that wasn't a war, that was a terrorist insurgency, illegally supported by the French! But we're all friends now. Except the French. Ian
