"No matter what I do, it is guaranteed to be wrong."
You have been listening to your wife too much, Jarlaxle. You've got to learn to tune her out (when necessary). What in the name of Jesus Christ and a pair of fuzzy dice are you talking about?

"Did something really stupid, got another Sportster."No Jaraxle. Getting a second Buell would be really stupid. The Sportster is a very useful machine. No matter what I do, it is guaranteed to be wrong. Therefore, me getting another bike was wrong. I should have taken the motorcycle endorsement off my license.

I had an Escort where step one in doing the timing belt was, "Remove engine."

Many shops CANNOT balance scooter tires-they won't fit the balancer.
My wife's PC has balancing beads in both tires-glass-smooth to 110+MPH.

The guy lives in one of the most liberal states: Massachusetts. My brother is in the Seattle area...the worst he got was razzing from a retired Master Chief he works with, who informed him that MARINE is an acronym.

I work with a dude who has had Airborne wings on the back window of his pickup for 10+ years. My brother has had a USMC plate frame since he bought his truck...never a problem.
Airborne dude is a lifelong Democrat (he ADMITS he voted for Dukakis) who supported Trump last year.

And, no more bike. Got run off I-30 by a semi last weekend, crashed the bike. And, I'm done. Going to the DMV today, having the M endorsement taken off my license. That sucks, hope yer ok. How many years have you been riding Bikes? About five.

Vespas need not be expensive. Buy used. About a year ago I bought a like new 2006 GT200 for $2200, with 1800 miles on it. It was literally in new condition even under the bottom. It came with a new color matched Vespa top box, a new Vespa windshield (which was too tall for me) a battery tender, and a new Cycle Gear jacket in my size (XXXL). I've had a lot of Japanese and Taiwanese scooters, and still have a 2009 Stella 2 stroke I bought new, and there is no comparison between those and a Vespa. I got the '06 because it has a carburetor. I stay far away from EFI. I have some motorcycles too, but since nearly losing my right leg during Desert Storm 30 years ago, I find it difficult to get on and off motorcycles. I mostly ride an '06 (carbureted) Harley Sportster 1200 Low when not riding a scooter. It's still possible to get my leg over the seat of that without too much trouble. Not sure this will work for you, but I know a dude who rides with horrible right hip problems: he mounts it like a horse. That is: on the side stand in gear, good foot on the left peg, hands on the bars (I think he holds the front brake when he does this), stand on the peg, swing his bad leg over. Reverse procedure to get off. He's tall, but also rides a very high bike (Super Tenere).

Could be worse...I recall one VW that requires removal of either the bumper or the battery and washer tank to replace one of the headlight bulbs.

Funny all the comments concerning Harley. Harley lobbied for a tariff in the mid 80's against 750cc and up foreign motorcycles. Harley got a market boost that they claimed they needed to avoid going out of business. Foreign 750's became 700's to get under the tariff. Honda built a huge plant in Ohio to make Goldwings and some others I think. They didn't have to pay tariffs on US built. After some years the tariff expired and most involved considered it a success. Don't seem so bad. Honda built Wings in Ohio from the 1980 GL1100 until 2010, when Honda retooled the plant (opened in 1979) to make suspension parts for SUVs. 2012 and newer are built in Kikuchi, Japan. (There was no 2011 model.) I recall that ALL imported bikes got hit with a tariff for 1984. (Hence my dream bike being a one-year-only model.)
