Wanted an 883...but this has the factory tour pack, crash bar, windshield, and sissy bar.
Just needs a pair of Road King shocks in back.

Burgman is gone, now have a 2014 Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Touring. So are you implying that the Burgman was waaay to smooth . . and that a 883cc butt massager is more compatible with your criteria?

No. I am stating that the Burg was about to need major service (brakes, 2 tires, coolant and brake fluid flush, valve adjustment, probably fork seals, belt, to the tune of $2000+), and there is NOBODY in the area I trust to do so without screwing it up.
The biggest reason I bought a Sportster is that the required service is minimal (50,000-mile belt, no valve checks, no coolant), and you can throw a dart at a map of the lower 48 states, and find a shop within 100 miles of where it lands!

Now that the engine is rubber mounted the Sportster isn't rattling fillings anymore. After sixty years of refinement the motor is bulletproof. With the Tour Package it will chase the sun without a hiccup. Good choice.

Well...thirty years. The 4-cam Evo showed up (replacing the Ironhead/Shovelhead) for 1984.

The Evo is just a refinement of a string starting with the 1951 KH 750. Either way the Sportster is faster, lighter and more reliable than the separate crankcase/transmission F motors. Frankly if I had to buy a Harley it would be the 750 Street, non Street Rod. It is a modern, international design and just looks right.

I was very impressed with this Indian at Rockingham back in October. A member of "The Stock Motor Mafia" off the show room floor rear tire he only had the air shifter wired thru his horn button. he was able to run high tens the way you see the bike..
