My taotao cy50a completely stock has a tach and it says that

It revs to 6.5k every time I take off is this right?

Sounds about right. My 150cc goes to 5000-6000 RPM (depending on the throttle)

Is it right is a tough question...it all depends on your variator rollers weight...clutch spring rate and contra spring rate. If yours revs that high..your take off should be quick..then about 25-30..you should feel a "shift' where your rpm's slow down and speed begins to climb slowly. It's all in how you tune it or how it comes tuned from the factory.
