If you rebuilt the engine, are you sure you got your timing correct?

The mirrors on it are just black plastic.... They were not the stock mirror's.. He had one stock mirror in with the stuff that had a blinker built in, but it had a crack in the mirror/glass, I'm assuming that was the original... But the mirrors that came on it fit real funky and almost pointed straight upwards... .. The seat is pretty rough looking... It look like the scoot was left out in the elements for a period of time... It's complete and doesn't have any rips, but it's wearing out on the bottom edge...
The scooter was/is a weird green. Not really Neon, and not Lime, almost in between.... The seat is grey and green.
I can get some pics if ya want.

So, if YOU had a scooter like this, where would you begin? What is your plan? Are you trying to make money or build yourself a toy? The first order of business is to do exactly what you're doing and get electricity going... Now, for testing purposes, you can (as you're doing) bypass the kill, ignition etc and jump the starter wire (well, to the solenoid) ... Then, hook it back up, one by one, trying the electric each hook up, when it stops firing, you've found your break... ------------------------- I too just picked up a Hunter style of scooter from CL... Didn't get quite the deal you got... I paid $275.00... But, It had a brand new muffler and the whole top of the engine was a brand new, Taiwan kit (all stock sizes).... Anyways, long story short, I stripped it for parts... It's down to bare frame right now... If you need parts, send me a PM.

Don't forget to change them cheap Chinese style valve stems if that's what your scooter is equipped with.

Are all those scoots yours, or your customer's? I'm planning on opening a scooter shop here with my brother, there are several motorcycle shops, but I have found most are not very knowledgeable when it comes to scooters. The "scooter rush" is exploding here, it is the perfect mean of transportation for this country, everything is close, traffic is terrible and gas is expensive. All the scooters are mine.... During the winter, Killer Motorsports was having an awesome sale on NewEgg's market place. My buddy owns a boat rental shop and was going to let me rent scooters out of his location... But when I looked into how much insurance and every hoop uncle Sam wants me to jump through, I would've lost money... So now I'm just going to sell the ones I planned on renting out. IMO, while there is money to be made selling these scooters, you have to have a LOT to buy in bulk to get a good enough deal to be profitable. If you're just starting, I suggest you start with "service" if you're handy with a wrench....You will be surprised how many people pay for mundane things like an oil or belt change. However, if you have big money to make a bulk purchase then I say go for it....

I am helping my friend install an alarm on his scoot. It is one of those motorcycle alarms that I wired to the scoot. Everything works except the remote start. I hooked up the blue wire to the red and yellow wire that goes to the solenoid, that is the correct wire to splice into right? Well, it will start regularly with the key, but will not start remotely at all does not even try to crank the engine, even with the killswitch on engine run and even with the key and ignition on, we tried every which way but it will not attempt to start remotely... I am stumped though, I was sure you were supposed to feed 12v into the solenoid where the 2 thin wires (green and yellow, and red and yellow) and it is supposed to make the engine turn by the solenoid feeding the starter motor power... but it is not with the remote start... Lain, you shouldn't have to cut any wires. These alarms have a plug and the scooter has that matching end....I've installed about 6 alarms and everyone was from a different manufacturer, but hooked up the same way... If you're cutting wires, you may not be installing correctly. Then again, you may just have gotten an alarm type I've never seen.... Here's my Alarm installation video

When I first came across T-Motorsports they were selling the engine at $309!!! That's what made me put them in my favorites... Then I was watching them sell hand over foot and they started taking up the price... When they raised them to $329.99 is when I ordered mine... 3 long, 1 short....
I wonder how high they will keep raising them... Eventually it's going kill their sales.
Oh yeah, one thing to note, the box has direction arrows as to what way it should face... FedEx must ignore this because all 4 of my motors were not "arrow up" and leaked oil all over the inside of the box and on the motor.... Fingers are crossed that your FedEx guy will be more diligent than mine

It would take forever to type and take pictures of all my projects going on....
So, I invite you all out into my shop and see what I have going on.... Each project will get filmed and hosted on youtube...

I live in Manistee, MI. Kind of in between Ludington and Traverse City. As to the potential riding....mainly around town (25-30 mph) and out to the Lake Michigan beaches. At 64 years old I'm not looking for anything too fast! Hello and welcome to the forum... I too live in Michigan... I'm about 2.5hrs south of you down between GR and K'zoo.... I started out with a 50cc and it only took a couple weeks to realize it was way too slow for my liking... A 150cc isn't anything very fast at all... You get an avg speed 50~60MPH depending on rider, rd conditions, wheel size, etc etc... But, it takes a while to get up to that full speed.. Even if you don't want to go 50, it's nice to have throttle left to get out of the way of a car.... I strongly advise a 150cc....

One of my scooters had the brake line routed wrong and was causing tension on on my triple tree and it only became noticeable at high speeds. Not saying it's what is causing your problem, but you may want to give the harness and lines in front a look over to make sure they're not creating tension in your steering mechanism.....

Its a brand new coil and cdi. Would hope they aren't dead already. Petcock seems fully operational, cleaned it out today just in case and it did have a little gunk but free and clear now.. Best way to check spark on these bad boys? Best way to check spark? You ever check a 9 volt battery with your tongue? Same way.... Stick the plug to your tongue and crank her over.... You'll know if you got spark.... LOL Just Joking of course... Put the plug to the motor (find somewhere to ground the plug) and crank it over... It will produce spark when cranked if everything is ok..... Oh, and you can eliminate the petcock altogether... It will help with trouble shooting.... Just get a manual shut-off/petcock (they're around $2~5.00)... It's very easy to swap out...

Do you have an ebay account? If you so, you can Nickle and dime one of these things and make some pretty good money. When you actually do a tare down, you can almost literally see dollar signs.... I found one the other day on CL for $350.00... Went to look at it and it had no title so I wound getting it for 275... The top half of the engine was toast, but he had a brand new Taiwan rebuild kit and a brand new, still sealed muffler... Most of the plastic was toast.... But I was needing parts, not a scooter... Parts value was there. Now, if you have an identical one and can snatch up a spare for parts, I say go for it! Just don't get it, start staring and then say, well it only needs X.... Then proceed to fix it... It will likely be a money pit and you'll lose your spare parts ... I'm saying this because I have a habit of doing this.... I have started a little scooter shop out of my garage, that's why I have been buying parts scooters.

What an awesome trip! Thanks for sharing.....
If you were going to fly somewhere and buy a scooter to ride home, would you buy used or new? Popular thinking might be a brand new one would be more reliable than used, but really, jumping on one brand new that hasn't been broken in and going cross country might lead to messed up piston rings....
If I bought used, I would want to buy one that's just outside of the break in period... In between 500~1000 miles...
However, I suppose if you purchased new, you could take the time to properly break it in.... It would be painful though keeping the rpms and speed so low on a cross country trip.....
Pro's and con's to both I suppose.... What would you chose?

So about $800-900 dollars to pimp my ride.
Of course then I'd need new paint and decals... To pimp mine out would only be around 250~300 for mine.... Geh is right, the GY6racingteam has awesome prices.... And they ship fast! Don't know if you seen my 11 pole stator upgrade video or not, but the one I did the upgrade to is like the one I posted in the pic above....
