The main reason I want Keikara's old block is that I have a Taida case boring tool that I'm currently learning how to use... I don't have a boring bar (the lathe you're supposed to use)... I'm using a converted drill press and a massive bench vice.... I did my first motor the other day but I had my blade set to wide and cut into the right crankcase too deep.. I opened up the wall of an oil port... I need more engine blocks to get my setup just right. Once I get setup I'm going to start offering a case boring service.... I can do both, 54mm or 57mm cases I didn't even see you asked for it , sorry . I wasn't trying to get him to keep it from you. I made a big mistake and threw out my old engine case and crank . It was in a crawl space under the house and was begining to rust on the inside . It's all good... I didn't think you were trying to get him to keep it...

If you have a few extra bucks I'd look into a new top end for the engine. A better quality top end should last longer then most stock top ends. For instance , you only have 4000 miles on the engine and the top end is shot. I doubt you want to buy a new engine every 4-5k miles . as for the old engine crank " if still good " can last a long time . I have everything but the crank replaced on mine . I replaced the top end when I bought the new engine and I have somewhere around 18,000 miles on her. I'd remove the old crank and put it aside . keep it nice and clean and don't let it rust. Keep all the old parts like the oil pump and , well everything that is still good. You can even use the old crank and engine case as a couple year project, and build an engine to your preference. If I'm not mistaken they sell whole engine kits , but you have to build it yourself. Of course they are not as cheap as a new stock engine. I bought one from eBay about 4 yes ago for 300 bucks. Yes, they do do sell kits and all the hardware required for the build... But by the time you pieced one together, the cost would probably be so high you could buy 3 of the motors Keikara just purchased... gy6racingteam carries really nice chrome panels that I want to get once I get a little extra cash to burn..... Check out how they tricked out this scooter... I have a sunny dongfang I want to do that to: I own one identical to this:

So I decided to just order a new motor got from t-motorsports for $330.00 shipped. $270.00 for motor and $59. shipping. As for the old motor has top end removed starter and all plastics. I do not have access to an impact to remove the variator or clutch. The only damage I know of is the cvt cover it's scratched from when I laid it down. I have no use for it however so if you would take it with theclutch and everything, I would be willing to give it to you for just the cost of shipping. Otherwise I am just going to trash the motor, have nowhere to keep it and wife would have a fit lol. After the new Moto gets here I will have a box to ship it in and we can figure out how much shipping will be and how to take care of payment. Send me a pm and we can work out the particulars. That's awesome! PM is sent.

did the shop do anything besides clean the carb? i would do a valve adjustment first? Yep, checking the valve lash is an excellent suggestion!

Oh, and BTW, Alleyoop also made an "how to guide" on how to tune a GY6 Carb... Give him a PM and he will provide a link.

That is what I assumed that it was too rich which is why I bought a whole new carb with a new electric choke(controls the air:gas ratio from what I understood) will take a look at it. I added seafoam to the gas as well. When I got it and when I filled it up. Transparent gas lines aren't showing any debris. The electric chokes (or auto enricher) only function is when you start you scooter.. The carburetor itself has an air/fuel mixture screw... Have you tried adjusting that screw yet? Adjust the one that says "Low speed Mixture Adjustment"....... You also have an Idle Screw you may need to adjust....

Its burned through a whole tank, filled it with ethanol free 87. Still new to the whole scooter thing so I'm a bit unsure of the emissions your are referring. Alleyoop (The Admin for this board) created a great thread on scooter doc forum on how to remove it. Here's a linkAnd here's a you tube video: Removing the emissions cost nothing if you can fabricate a block-off plate yourself. The emission stuff on these are notorious for being problematic. BTW, Make sure you visually inspect your gas tank inards best you can... And another BTW That strong gas smell you talk of, that could be an indicator of that it's running too rich.. When an engine is running too rich, it has a certain smell...

I bought a 2013 taotao150 evo used private party. Ran fine for a couple of days, was a little hard to start but ran fine, found out the battery was just old and weak and wouldn't hold a charge well. Replaced battery. After that it rode fine for about 2 days and then it had trouble starting, when I finally got it started, when I applied the throttle quickly it would bog down and die. Also smelled gas strongly. Did some research, and seeing how it had sat for about 6mos, I sent it off to a local shop to have the carb thoroughly cleaned. Got it back, fired up well, took off out of the drive way, rode it around the block. Came to a stop at the house, it died and couldn't get it started again. Could smell gas strongly again. So I decided, with it, bought a new carb, fuel lines, vacuum lines, fuel filter, spark plug, cap and wire, dic. Installed them all and it fired up beautifully and idled great after adjusting the idle (new carb). Idled for quite the while, revving slowly as well as aggressively and seem to respond well. Starting pisspouring so I pulled it inside before I could test drive. Hour or so later it was hard to start again. Got it started once and died quickly... What is going on with this thing? Running out of parts to replace! Are you using new gas? You could have bad gas (that sounds funny).... Also, these tanks rust out easy... It's possible you have particulate that's clogging up your new filter. Also, you may wanna remove all your emissions stuff and eliminate the possibility of something like a bad fuel check valve etc etc.....

It would appear scrappydog sells the whole kits, (cover, bolts and gasket) but it's 39.99... If I were you, I would send them an email or call them and ask if you can buy just the gasket.

Do you have an accurate one or do you use something (like digihud or GPS)?
Out of all my scooters, I only have 1 with an accurate speedo. It's my wifes BMS Heritage 150cc. Her speedo is stock and it is actually 100% accurate.

Go to eBay , order from " gy6racingteam " out of PR. The quality is good prices are pretty much the cheapest around , free and fast shipping. You will not find a this quality for a cheaper price . Over the past week, I've spent about $300.00 with the gy6racingteam... It's a very good source to get scooter parts... - However, they do not sell complete engines.... Great spot to get performance upgrades!

If by TMS you are referring to T-Motorsports, .............. May just lean towards that seeing as with the miles I have probly going to have to start dealing with clutch and belt and who knows what else. Yes, T-Motorsports... I actually didn't purchase through Amazon, I purchased my engines from their ebay store TMSHelmet. Same prices though..... When I first came across their GY6 engines, they had them listed at $309.99!!! Then they went up to 329.99... That's when I snatched up mine.. Now, they're up to 349.99.... ( Short - LONG ) If you do want to buy a new motor, I would be interested in buying your old block... ( right and left crankcase, timing cover, and crank shaft and transmission).... I would not want clutch, variator or anything from the cylinder up as it would just add weight and disposal fee. I'll pay $100 for the parts I want and you would be able to get your engine even cheaper. * Please note, if the case or other parts are damaged or heat warped, I would not be interested. If they're in "bad condition" such as real bad pitting and excessive grease build up, price would be have to be a little lower as well due to reconditioning work involved... But if they're in "fair condition", I got $100.00 USD for ya.

So my question is, if I just do a top end I want to do a BBK. Might as well gotta replace the carb and filter anyway. Not looking for anything I would need to modify or crack the case to do, where would a good place be to get the parts from. Or I may just replace the entire motor, and again where would a good place be to get one. TL/DR Blew top end of motor, where to get a bbk kit or a complete motor. Hi Keikara, A couple of days ago I went and picked a parts scooter off craigslist... The person I purchased it from thought the engine would run cooler if he took off the plastic engine shroud... Little did he know, but the shroud is what actually keeps the engine cool and he wound up over heating his engine and it seized up... He purchased a whole new top end for the engine, took his engine apart but then couldn't figure out how to put it all back together. Anyhow, long story short, I have a whole new top end stock rebuild kit for the GY6 150cc (57.4mm piston kit)..... As icing on the cake, it's a Taiwanese manufactured kit, not Chinese. I also have the head/cam/chain and all the gaskets you would need for the job, etc etc.. Everything you need to refresh your motor to new condition. If your interested, let me know, I'll give the best price you'll find. What is your engine stamp number? The kit I have is for the 157QMJ or the 152QMI.... If you're wanting to buy a brand new engine, I have purchased 3 long and 1 short case from TMS. I recommend this seller. $330.00 to the door and it comes with the Engine, CDI, Rectifier, Carburetor, Starter solenoid and your coil. In addition, they ship fast. within a week you'll have your engine. Long Case $330.00 Short Case $345.00
