I am helping my friend install an alarm on his scoot. It is one of those motorcycle alarms that I wired to the scoot. Everything works except the remote start. I hooked up the blue wire to the red and yellow wire that goes to the solenoid, that is the correct wire to splice into right? Well, it will start regularly with the key, but will not start remotely at all does not even try to crank the engine, even with the killswitch on engine run and even with the key and ignition on, we tried every which way but it will not attempt to start remotely... I am stumped though, I was sure you were supposed to feed 12v into the solenoid where the 2 thin wires (green and yellow, and red and yellow) and it is supposed to make the engine turn by the solenoid feeding the starter motor power... but it is not with the remote start...

I'm not familiar with the alarm / auto start, but doesn't the brake need to be applied before the engine will crank? Or you saying that by connecting directly to the solenoid you can bypass the brake requirement?

Lain, you shouldn't have to cut any wires. These alarms have a plug and the scooter has that matching end....I've installed about 6 alarms and everyone was from a different manufacturer, but hooked up the same way... If you're cutting wires, you may not be installing correctly. Then again, you may just have gotten an alarm type I've never seen.... Here's my Alarm installation video

The front fairing is not a safe place to install an alarm, so I use the wire harness to wire it in the back hidden amidst the wires. The front fairing is the first thing thieves rip off your scoot to try to hotwire it, if the alarm is conveniently installed it is also conveniently removed.

My BMS Chelsea came with a Steel Mate alarm installed. The alarm part is kind a useless because it is too sensitive, even when turned all the way down. I do like the remote starter so I can keep the key in my pocket. It came with no papers but found info on the internet. Mine is mounted in the engine compartment under the seat. if you have the same kind... I can try and chase the wires.

He decided to just use it without but I'm curious as to why it didn't work, we tried on 2 of the same scooters. Blue wire to the red/yellow that leads to the solenoid switch.
To make sensitive alarms work properly I would wrap them with rubber like the same stuff they CDI and other rubber holders that hold things to the frame are. I also place the alarm between the frame and the body plastic so it is not rubbing the bucket. The vibration from rubbing the bucket destroyed an alarm I had once.

hey Retrobrian, how is your Chelsea been working our for you? I'm hoping to pick one up in a few months. Also where is your alarm located? I'm hoping to install one with remote start. btw, I saw online somewhere that the sensitivity to the alarm can be adjusted by remote. if I locate the site, I'll post it's location. thx! sixstrings
