Well, gave my scoot a little facelift. Wanted to make it my own, and give the front-end a better look, rather than the stock headlights. Before: Now: Rundown of what I did: - wheel trim tape - painted lower rear plastics with Plastidip - added decals - Carbon-fiber look projector housing with H3 & H7 bulbs - Dremel'd Clutch housing and painted my vented clutchbell Red - Cleaned the floormats of adhesive, and fastened them with SS self-threading screws. - LED turn signals and brake lights -...and yes, I "riced" my scooter with some leftover "Suzuki" decals. lol

Definitely check/replace float and float valve. Ensure that your float seat is free of debris as well. When's the last time you went thru your carb?
Possibly your needle is too high, also?

Yeah, the first time's a real bear to get it off. I had to invest in a DeWalt 110v 1/2" impact wrench and some high-impact sockets. Once I FINALLY got it off, I use a little anti-seize every time I put the clutch nut or variator nut back on.

I pulled the CVT cover off mine, and carefully dremeled the cover so that I now have an exposed clutchbell. I also painted the clutchbell hi-temp bright red, so it looks pretty. Will get pics of it tomorrow. Might even pull the cover back off and paint it gloss black. But first,......I gotta re-dial the A/F screws on my Katana tomorrow

I think just disabling signatures in your user panel is your only alternative.

Hmmmm, interesting. What size main jet are you running? Have you tried shimming your needle at all? Also check and RE-CHECK your float height. And, with the miles she has on her, I would check your cam chain adjuster's tension as well. Good luck!

Honestly, for the price, you'd be much better off just replacing the airbox for an aftermarket foam filter, like a Uni. If you're wanting to maintain the stock box however, good luck. I've not found a performance drop-in for mine. I just made the leap to Uni instead. Probably saved me $20-30 anyway.

I have some left from my car's k&n filtercharger. I just use that. Also a mineral-baed oil.

Been pondering on starting a thread like this, to see what else fellow scooterians ride. Be it 2, 3, or 4 wheels,....post'em up! 1991 Katana 600 - Currently has V&H headers on it with gutted '01 muffler - SV650 rear adjusters - '98 RF900 adjustable rear shock - Coil relay mod ( getting 12.8v to coilss now!) - Brand new Avon tires Fr & Rr - Streetfighter'd with a '98 GSX-R guage pod with old skool Suzuki GS 7" headlight - Painted semi-gloss black 2001 Suzuki SV650: - 2000 GSX-R SRAD complete front-end - 1999 GSX-R swing-arm, linkage, and wheel/tire - 2001 Yamaha R1 rear shock - LeoVince SBK exhaust (not pictured) - Jetted w/ Gen2 cams - CNC adjustable levers, clutch perch, LED signals/relay - HID headlight kit with streetfighter mask - Complete Trailtech Vapor setup Oh, I also have a 2001 Impala with subdued cop wheels and center caps. Just love the sleeper look of it. hehe It also has: - Overkill PCM re-program, mapped for 87 octane - ported upper and lower intake manifold with larger throttle body - 3.8Performance headers and down-pipe, with 2.5" race Cat, and 2.5" - U-bend exhaust delete - Flowmaster 40-series exhaust - K&N CAI system Post them up! Lets see what fellow scooter fans have in their stables!

Awesome @ the get-together, man! I'd like to have one somewhere here in the central OH area sometime. While I do not take the role of an 'elitist' when it comes to scooters/motorcycles mechanical know-how, I DO hold a higher regard for those that chose to wrench on their own rides. Builds your knowledge base, experience, and could help you help others somewhere down the road, based on those experiences. It drives me nuts, seeing these guys(or gals?) chomping at the bit to get their bike they've been dreaming of, only to be a "key-turner". And I'm not talking advanced mechanical insight here.....I mean those that don't even top off their own fluids, or know where their battery is located. As per my conversation in the gym the other day: ~He just bought a 2012 ZX9R Ninja~ me: ......"You go out riding yesterday?" him: "Nah. Couldn't get it to start for some reason." me: "Aw, man. Sorry to hear that. Any ideas on the issue?" him: "nope" me: "Battery? Starter solenoid?" him: "starter whaaa? I'm just gonna take it to the shop." .....I just casually ended the conversation there and changed subjects. Just had to think to myself, "Yeah! How's that "dream bike" treatin' ya now??"
