[replyingto=hank]hank[/replyingto]Thanks, Hank! That video is pretty helpful.
Will it damage my engine to run to the store with the filter un-oiled in order to get the filter oil? Or is there a substitute for the oil I can use? All I have is 4t 10w40 motorcycle oil, 2 stroke oil, and 10w30 oil.

All I have is 4t 10w40 motorcycle oil, 2 stroke oil, and 10w30 oil. Hi The best oil for foam air filters is a mineral-based oil. Unlike synthetic oil, mineral-based oil will never dry out. A synthetic oil may be good for inside an engine, but when used on a filter in dusty conditions the oil will dry when it comes into contact with dust. Once the dust comes into contact with a synthetic-based foam filter oil, a dry crust will form on the surface of the filter allowing more dust to pass through the filter and into the engine. Unlike a synthetic-based oil however, a mineral-based oil will soak through the dust and continue to catch new dust thus protecting the engine. Unifilter’s “Filter Fix” oil has been specially formulated for this sole purpose. It has a balanced consistency which allows the oil to penetrate the entire foam yet not “drain” from the foam whilst in situ. In addition, it contains special “tackifier” agents to enhance the dust holding characteristics of the oil. I would get one specifically designed and used for oiling filters Take care and ride safely dear friend Yours Hank

I have some left from my car's k&n filtercharger. I just use that. Also a mineral-baed oil.

Thanks, Hank. Since I can't drive without the oil I asked my mother to pick some up since she is taking a ride with a friend luckily. I'll see what she produces and if I can use it or not.

[replyingto=hank]hank[/replyingto]You don't have to spend a lot of money when it comes to stuff like that! Heres what I did, go to a CVS or drugstore, and get a bottle of mineral baby oil, yes the kind you wipe on babies butts, LOL. A lot of people don't know that it can be used for a lot of things such as: tire shine, plastic protectant, (I use it on my ATV after a clean wash and dry, keeps plastics looking new), I first used baby oil for guitar string cleaning, makes my strings sound brand new everytime, for the past 3 ATV's I have used it on all of my UNI Filters, Plastics, Fenders, and the big mud tires that were on them. And the best thing of all, It is very cheap, and smells good! I got some spray bottles and filled them all up, saves me lots of money.... Maybe it could benefit, and help everybody else save some dough?
