This past week I picked up a 2011 VIP Moped from a friend of mine. After a little bit of work I realized the automatic choke was bad (O-ring was worn out) and there was possible contamination in the carb. So to save myself a bit of a headache I decided to get a new carb. My friend whom I got the moped from offered to spring for the cost since he felt bad that the Moped wasn't in running condition (though it had been a few days before). So I told him about ScrappyDogsScooters and gave him the link for the carb in question.
He ordered the carb this past Friday and imagine my surprise when he got an e-mail on Monday saying that the carb is currently out of stock and it will be three weeks before it ships.
Now to my way of thinking there should have been some sort of notification when he clicked the buy option tab that the unit wasn't in stock or a notice next to the described part that it is indeed out of stock. Since this moped is to be used for work, I now have to spend the extra cash to go get an inferior Chinese carb somewhere locally at a much higher price. To be sure I wasn't paying for the first carb but now necessity forces me to do just that if I want this moped to be ready to ride to work or just walk the 10 miles. Scrappy's uses PayPal which means even if my friend wanted a refund it's still a three week wait. (Ha Ha we got your money sucker!) I feel like such a sap for touting ScrappyDogsScooters as a great place to shop. I guess the phrase "buyer beware" applies here.
I'll make sure in the future that when someone asks me where to get good, reasonably priced parts that I steer them elsewhere. Where I live there is a huge market for used Chinese scooters with all the moped rental agencies.

If you depend on a cheap china scooter to get to work you need 2 or 3 of them and a tow truck account. 2 or 3 spare carbs, belts, clutches and cylinders, pistons, crankshafts tires, air for the tires, you get the idea. Nobodys forcing you to go cheap and yes paypal does refunds and they SUCK. So what the real problem here? Chinese stuff ain't good enough.. Ha Ha Ha Ha.
My scooter should have been aborted!!!!!!!!

I guess I've been lucky.... My only real complaint is that, it seems every item I order has a shipping and processing fee. When I rebuilt the MotoBrovo, I bought several items, they came in the same box, and it was like 60 for freight. (head, top end rebuild kit, carb, gasket kit, intake boot, stator bell puller, and a spark plug) Other then that, I've been pretty happy with them.

The best part is when someone starts a new account to bag on a vender. Just seems shady to me.

Sorry about your dissatisfaction. We've had issues with keeping stock with high demand and have been considering raising our prices to match demand. We've actually had dealers and other customers ask us several times the price in disbelief, and one dealer actually suggested we should raise our prices to match the times, but we've not. our overhead and acquisition costs get higher, so our profit gets smaller. We've also been having serious delays in containers coming over because of government regulations and delays with them. That being said, there is no real excuse for being out of stock. In an effort to save costs and keep our prices low and unchanged for well over 3 years now, we've retained our old tech website that doesn't have the bells and whistles like newer, more expensive websites, so it doesn't calculate shipping very well, and doesn't have an inventory function to know that we're out of stock on something. We're doing our best, and the enormous growth in customer base must mean we're doing something right. We do accept Paypal, Visa, AMEX, Discover, MC, cash and even money orders. All can be refunded immediately, even if Paypal. Simply reply to the email you got from shipping asking for a refund instead of waiting on our restock in a week or two, or, call Shelly directly at 702-689-6035 and she will refund you while you're on the phone with her. Tell her Rick on the forum sent you, but that shouldn't be necessary. We run a well established, reputable company and we'll be around for many more years to come. We've got no reason to keep anyones money, and everyone, including us, would very much rather send you the product that is ordered as everyone wins.

I have a End of Service life scooter that I'm running to see how far it will go. it has 18000 miles on it. I stock spare belts clutch and pulleys Carbs Crankshafts Extra engine. (not yet) I'm running a Scrappy's Crank and BBK. 139qbm without reservation. I run this thing 35 mph everywhere, I don't Baby it anymore because it going to break anyway so why no have some fun with it. I expect a 3000 mile TBO. Once a year Total Breakdown Overhaul. That's the plan. I but parts from everybody. I don't really care who, It's fun to get a steal on a part but you know this stuff has many different grades of quality. Alot of the cheap stuff is cheap stuff. Some of it is good. The best stuff I get off old engines. I get parts from Scrappy's like critical internal engine stuff, Cranks,BBK You get the idea. I would like to have a new build ready to swap out but that haven't happened yet. Still need a 139qmb short case core. It's all about the fun now...

Don't take this wrong because i think yall are exactly what you said (great service, honest, and dependable)but i got to disagree about your pricing you might be cheaper on a few items but most of the prices are about the same, And i can buy most stage 6 parts or hoce for 10 to 20 dollars more but like i said i think you are a great part supplier and have great customer service.

I have been buying from Scrappy for years without issue.
I too, find it odd that a person joins a forum just to bash a vendor, 1 post fly by.
