I live outside the 48 states ( hawaii). A lot of vendors won't ship. SD will and have provided me with good service. I will order from Scrappy again.

Sorry about your dissatisfaction. We've had issues with keeping stock with high demand and have been considering raising our prices to match demand. We've actually had dealers and other customers ask us several times the price in disbelief, and one dealer actually suggested we should raise our prices to match the times, but we've not. our overhead and acquisition costs get higher, so our profit gets smaller. We've also been having serious delays in containers coming over because of government regulations and delays with them. That being said, there is no real excuse for being out of stock. In an effort to save costs and keep our prices low and unchanged for well over 3 years now, we've retained our old tech website that doesn't have the bells and whistles like newer, more expensive websites, so it doesn't calculate shipping very well, and doesn't have an inventory function to know that we're out of stock on something. We're doing our best, and the enormous growth in customer base must mean we're doing something right. We do accept Paypal, Visa, AMEX, Discover, MC, cash and even money orders. All can be refunded immediately, even if Paypal. Simply reply to the email you got from shipping asking for a refund instead of waiting on our restock in a week or two, or, call Shelly directly at 702-689-6035 and she will refund you while you're on the phone with her. Tell her Rick on the forum sent you, but that shouldn't be necessary. We run a well established, reputable company and we'll be around for many more years to come. We've got no reason to keep anyones money, and everyone, including us, would very much rather send you the product that is ordered as everyone wins. ok, just now read this. it still would be nice if you could work out your end so you're not holding peoples money for weeks before shipping. i did reply to that email about 30 minutes ago. waiting for response. thank you.

This past week I picked up a 2011 VIP Moped from a friend of mine. After a little bit of work I realized the automatic choke was bad (O-ring was worn out) and there was possible contamination in the carb. So to save myself a bit of a headache I decided to get a new carb. My friend whom I got the moped from offered to spring for the cost since he felt bad that the Moped wasn't in running condition (though it had been a few days before). So I told him about ScrappyDogsScooters and gave him the link for the carb in question. He ordered the carb this past Friday and imagine my surprise when he got an e-mail on Monday saying that the carb is currently out of stock and it will be three weeks before it ships. Now to my way of thinking there should have been some sort of notification when he clicked the buy option tab that the unit wasn't in stock or a notice next to the described part that it is indeed out of stock. Since this moped is to be used for work, I now have to spend the extra cash to go get an inferior Chinese carb somewhere locally at a much higher price. To be sure I wasn't paying for the first carb but now necessity forces me to do just that if I want this moped to be ready to ride to work or just walk the 10 miles. Scrappy's uses PayPal which means even if my friend wanted a refund it's still a three week wait. (Ha Ha we got your money sucker!) I feel like such a sap for touting ScrappyDogsScooters as a great place to shop. I guess the phrase "buyer beware" applies here. I'll make sure in the future that when someone asks me where to get good, reasonably priced parts that I steer them elsewhere. Where I live there is a huge market for used Chinese scooters with all the moped rental agencies. Medewty I have been to Scrappy Dog Scooter's location here in Las Vegas many times over the past few months. They only moved into this location about 3-4 months ago, and have experienced all the pains involved in such a move, the first time I went there they didn't even have the phones hooked up but still took time to take care of me. Each time I've been in there, I've heard the two ladies taking orders on the phone, and they have always been polite, and professional, and get up to go look to be certain parts are on hand each time. I personally like the fact I can get one of their knowledgeable staff on the phone or talk to them in person here in Vegas, rather than relying on some website that doesn't answer questions without an email or trouble ticket. Every time I've asked for a part, they knew exactly what I needed, and answered any questions I had. If you want to robo-shop, have at it, I'll take Scrappy's personal service any day!

I have said this many times and I'll say it once more. If you need a part right away always call and order or call before making your online order. Some people act as if these suppliers are making the parts themselves. They get these parts for over seas and sometimes it takes weeks to get parts for them. They have to deal with customs in top of that. If you think it's bad waiting for one part you should try waiting on a whole shipping container like they do.

Just to add to this, as it is very correct; When ordering a shipping container from China, some factories can take up to 4 MONTHS + (particularly if Customs decides they want to have a look at your shipment) from the date of the order to get that container to our dock. Something to consider when you want to wrap your head around the logistics of what scooter parts suppliers do to make sure we have the parts you need when you need them. Matt

Just to add to this, as it is very correct. When ordering a shipping container from China, some factories can take up to 4 MONTHS + i've worked in a warehouse that received it's inventory from over seas. we had one container that arrived 2 months late. when it finally showed up the container had a hole about 3x6 feet. looked like they dropped the thing while loading or unloading. which is why i don't want to pay now for parts they are still waiting on. they may have a date they expect delivery but it could be days, weeks or even months longer.

As a manager of a retail store, I can add that keeping all items in stock 100% of the time is virtually impossible. You never know when someone is going to walk in or order a dozen of a particular item, it just happens, and it's a near certainty that a regular customer will then come in expecting you to have that item in stock! Then you have the times you over-order an item that normally sells like crazy at a particular time of year, and no one is interested in it that year. My store has an item list of 871 products, I can only imagine the nightmare of trying to stock enough parts to cover every cheap chinese scooter out there! ramblinman: I understand your desire to have your order treated differently, this response was not in regards to your situation.
