My wife has moved to another scooter, i told her to wait a month or so and i could co sign on a brand new pcx, so j would have a dark blue one and a silver one. Posted the zummer on craigslist, did not get much feedback from the internet. So if anyone here in FL want a pretty much brand new )1700 km( spotless white taotao zummer 50 cc with a cc kit on it, that has white LED lights set on the bike, you can email.me at Sunsetrex@gmail.com Or if you know someone who wants one. Let me know

That can happen with motorcycle tires are over 2 years old and you are riding at night when its potentially cool and damp since there can now be a light sheen of oil and water on the road. This is also the tradeoff you get if you put hard compound tires to get longer wear on a bike. Bottom line on the Honda is to keep very close to the OEM size tires on the bike to keep the handling balanced and stay with established name brand tires such as Pirelli, Michelin, Dunlop or the German Heidenau. Thank you everyone for the advice, but to just give everyone more info, it was sunset, it had raines in the morning that day, but the roads looks pretty dry, and my pcx is 3 months old from the dealer, maybe i hit a patch of dirt or gravel in the road... i guess ill just know my limitations on speed, was taking the turn at about... 30 to 35 mph.. but more on the side of 30... Cant drive like im on the track is what im telling myself. Thanks

the transmission is ok because it works fine with the stock exhaust. is it possible that i have to change the jet when i put on a new exhaust? because the jet should be doing more than 15mph, even if it is half of what the new exhaust needs, and it's only meant to be a 50cc exhaust? it's something to do with the air ratio being disrupted by an exhaust change or the wrong exhaust resonance (it's making a vaccum at 70cc at the time of the 50cc explosion and erasing the compression and horsepower to 0.5 hp?) else if it's got some glass fiber stuck in it? Hey there, my experience is telling me to say obstruction i rejetted my carburetor and found a tiny piece of dirt clogging holes in the carbs main jet... If ita not that.... im not sure Good luck

Okay, so i hit a turn on the pcx today.... and i did a flipping truffle shuffle of the left... the bike pretty much skipped ad hopped while in the turn... AMAZINGLY... nothing happened. I dident vary my weight or the turn i was going through amd the bike caught its self and i came out of the turn practically shitting my pants...
So i am still used to the fact that my wifes taotao zummer has significantly fatter tires than my pcx.
And one have any suggestions for wider tires for the honda pcx... ide love to have some seasoned buyers perspective when it comes to tires.
Thanks

Good morning, evening or afternoon riders.
Just had to deal with the toughest fix on my wifes scooter so i thought i would let yall know. Chinese TaoTao Zummer 85cc
2 weeks ago, my wife came home from school after class (working on her masters, and night time is the only freetime we have left) she came home all freaked out because the headlight and turn signals in the front stopped working, yet the rear turn signals were blinking away when i tried it, the headlight lookes burnt, i i figured all of the bulbs went at the same time, so i went to buy them and forked over the 27 $ in total cause i couldent wait for em online. Installed and nothing changed... puzzled, i uninstalled everything, took off any plastic covering, checked the connections for rust or blockage.. this was going kn a few hours in miami heat so i got fruatrated. Called my dad (who taught me all i know through fixing and modding our ATVS back in the day)
All he said was, check to see if powers getting to the line, sure enough, i opened up the cluster of wires and searched for the headlight and turn signal wires.... not only were they both frayed, but snappes from getting stretched from the handlebara turning right and left over and over while driving.
So i fixed it and added some wiggle room for the wores so they would not snap again. I called my friend who got the same scoot as my after i recommended it cause he liked the look. HE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, i went and fixed his for free, charged him gas money, then i called my friend who has a taotao baccio, same problem.
So im guessing, they forgot to take into consideration, they the wires might get pulled past the length they were set up for, because i have fixed more than 5 scoots with the exact same problem.
Check it out, im only finding the issue with 50ccs that are chinese..
Gonna look at my friends yamaha zuma125 tomorrow to see if its just the size of the scooter or if its chinese failing to do the right measurement/apply a small amount of wiggle room into their measurements.

When ever i ride with my wife on the honda pcx i got... it is really only noticeable that i have another person on me when we start from a stop... i guess thats honda though... i feel like the extra weight grounds me more while driving, everything besides railroad tracks feels smooth, like small bumps... but when im on small sections of highway to just skip the stop signs galore of broward county, i wish i had a 250.. the forza.. the gas consumption is awful compared to the pcx... but the top out and extra torque would be nice.. im biased though vause yall suggested i go with the 150 in the first place when i asked you guys what i should ride.
150 is fine.. even when my wife and i combine at 400lbs on the scooter. Maybe i am not critical enough about it, also in florida... hills only exsist when you're going over a bridge

Hey fellow riders, i wanted to bring up an topic that i know needs to be discussed.
A few weeks ago, i posted about putting LED light strips on mine and my wifes scooter, i wanted to know if they were worth it. Not many replied, so i said fark it and decided to dish out some dough for 4 packs, totaling in 8 strips of white water resist LEDS.
I installed (which was super easy) the strips and instead of putting a switch to turn them on and off i linked them with the lights of my scooters so my wife or i would never have to remember to turn them on. Took me about an hour to do both scooters, just some tie wraps for wire management and super glue to cement thoes lights on for good (cause i knowthe 3m tape they come with will wearout over time)
Let me just say, they saved my life and my scooter one night on the way home from work, going down a dark street in my neighborhood 2 blocks from my house, a driver California stopped at an stop sign that meets up with a road that has no stopsign that meets with the road around a blind turn, i make the bendand see him rolling through the stop sign and had just enough time to hit my horn and swerve. Right as indid that he slammed on his breaks and backed up. We both stopped and thedriver got out of his car and was full of apologies for me, he siad he saw the glow of my LED lights before he heard the horn and said he was never gonna roll a stop sign again.
What im getting at is in florida, at least in Miami-Dade and Broward County we have some of the most careless disregarding for safety scooter drivers in the world not a day goes by where I see someone on a scooter without a helmet or any type of protection. I think it's cuz the mentality down here for scooters is that they don't go fast you don't need insurance and you need to be 16 to drive them so they are seen as something that's on the road illegally. When I drive my PCX around at night I see everyone looking at the glow of my LED strips noticing my bike and before I had the strips no one paid attention to me. I know not everyone has the money to be able to put the lights on but everyone should have the common sense to not want to get hit by a car on a scooter. As a scooter driver I think it's worth the money to potentially save your life.
Ride safe.

Well, we woke up this morning to find that my scooter and my son's electric bicycle were STOLEN from in front of our house last night! Alternating between and and and and Called police - filed report - no insurance (scooter probably worth about $300-$400) - don't think we'll be getting them back... Alas... The electric bicycle was on our front porch - the scooter, at top of driveway right up against house - neither had keys in them... I guess if degenerates want your stuff, there's not much that will deter them... Florida gull , very sorry and angry about your loss of a scoot.. check pawnshops, you and i both know there are a million id them in florida, if you have a photo of it and you could post it here, i will keep an eye open, i visit pawn shops frequently to get deals on stuff i cant find anywhere, i resently bought a taotao for cheap with some electrical problems just to have extra parts, the guy said its fuel lines were broken so he sold it to me for 200... had 600 miles on it and now i have a gy6 scooter just for parts when anything goes wrong on my wifes TaoTao Zummer. Just saying, i go to pawn shops alot, and if you live in aouth florida, the chances that ide see it on the road or in a pawnshop are not horrible

In dade and broward county, i just drive like a cautious, mind my own business commuter, everyone down here has a ccwp or a gun thats unregistered under their seat... or worse, does not speak english, and is driving around with stolen or fake plates and no lisence.
When i was in a car, i got into fights with people, rammed peoples cars with my car, and got jumped or my wind sheild smashed... but after i got a gun pointed at me and my son was born, i just keep a cool head and stay very aware on my scoot and keep my go pro running while i ride.
Let the hooligans get themselves killed jerry, we shall live to ride another day.

I've recently have upgraded my tail/stop and blinkers with led replacements 1156 Amber and 1157 red tail/stop if you haven't already done so but what I Was looking for throughout the forum with no success is Upgrade for headlights. I am thinking that a set of superbright leds might be leaps and bounds brighter than stock but has anyone modified a different bulb to fit or have found a brighter replacement? Thanks . ucwt, First, welcome to the forum! Have a bone on the old chopper guy...Replacing incandescent lights with LED's is a good idea if you can find LED "bulbs" that will plug into your existing sockets. They are BRIGHT and use less juice. I found that LED's do NOT like AC current however. So if the lights you're replacing run off the battery, or off a DC circuit you're "good to go". If, as with some headlights, they run off an AC circuit, you may have to run them through a bridge rectifier to convert to DC current for them to run right. This usually causes a slight loss of current but not enough to be detrimental. My rectifier cut the voltage from 12.5 to 10.5V but the LED was still like the sun! You can tell if your lights run off DC if they will come on without the engine running.
I used a bridge rectifier to run an LED driving light on a Chinese 150 some years ago. I now ride an old 2007 Kymco 250, and the factory lights are quite good "as-is"... Except for the headlight. It's better than most Chinese scoots, but still leaves a lot to be desired. So, rather than change out the headlight, I added small LED driving lights which make a MONUMENTAL difference. At 15W each, they put out about four times the ACTUAL light of the stock 25W headlight! I'd guess their output at around 75W of useable light!
Please note: I've now run these for more than a month and have experienced no weakening of the battery, and no oncoming traffic flashing brights at me. I now have SERIOUS headlights that show potholes, unpainted curbs, junk on the road, etc. SWEET!!!
In my case, it was easier to upgrade the headlights with auxiliary LED's. Some members have had good results with replacing their incandescent bulbs with LED's. The only issue I've heard is that LED's run pretty HOT... So, if they're in a tight plastic enclosure, they may overheat the plastic. That issue is one reason I went with external auxiliary LED's instead of risking melting my stock headlight reflector.
My Kymco uses DC current for all the lights. That makes it easy to change out to LED's. Some scooters use AC current for headlights and/or other lights. You do need to get any LED's running on DC if possible. The ads for LED's often say they can run on either AC or DC but some others and myself have tried running LED's on AC and it just doesn't usually work. Hope this may help... Ride safe!Leo So... you said that if the lights come on when you just turn the ignition to start, but the engine is not on, it is a dc current? My wifs taotao zummer is like that, and she has not awful but not the best vision, even with her contacts, so i wanted to make it a bit safer for her on the road. What do you suggest for lights on the zummer??

There's another thread that's heating up because one member refuses to wear any gear,,,I've gone down at speed it ain't pretty and it ain't fun,, You should come drive around in florida in miami dade county or broward county... ide say 80%of 50 cc riders down here dont wear anything besides regular sunglasses, most have ear buds in as well... the 20 %left over have a helmet and thats it. Lots of 150s as well with no gear... but not 80 % Its just sad when ever i roll up in my zummer that looks like a 50 cc... its an though, and people tease you or make fun and . I know that the better person will ignore and wear the right gear and be safe regardless of the comments and looks. But i think it outs out the wrong message to people who want scooters but not yet have them, then finally get one and they dont want to look "like there taking there 30mph bike too seriously" Screw the envious haters. Be safe and enjoy the ride.
