I used Mecron ( Ford auto tranny oil ) in my Honda CR125 instead of regular gear oil . Unsure if an auto clutch is wet like a manual clutch is . Spray the chain when you park it . If you spray and ride it wet it may sling the oil off and onto other places .
Scootnwinn did you mean WD40 ?

Was it the same size as the old belt ? Gates are good but I use Bando belts in my scoots since they are made in Japan instead of China . The belt from NAPA may have been made for a cars accessories instead of a CVT that moves up and down

All 4T engines will need the valves adjusted at least once with some needing it out of the crate . Too tight can make it hard to start , stall or no start when warm and in extreme cases no start at all . My Echarm they got loose around 2,200 miles . It started and run great , but would want to to stall just before coming to a stop unless I gave it some throttle . I am now at 17,600 miles , it runs great and I have only changed the oil with no more touching the valves .
SYM is a good brand as a member posted having thousands and thousands of miles on the stock engine

are they listed here www.bbb.org ? Never mind that I clicked on the Contact Us link and they are in China instead of America . You are wise to ask around before buying as I have read many horror stories about online purchases from other vendors but I am unfamiliar with this one . I see there are limited on scooter selections but I like the Sunny Eagle 150 as that is a good body style and has 130/60/13s . I looked at the dual purpose 200 and 250cc ones and like the Enduro but wonder how inverted forks would ride and handle bumps . I know if I shipped a scooter in the USA to another in the USA it would be 200 or more , so free shipping from China for free makes me want to check them out . I order electronics off Amazon from China and it can take 4 to 6 weeks as it has to go through customs . My China stuff I also have to sign for them instead of dropped on my porch or in my mailbox . Some vendors have also said " free shipping " but it was only to a business where they had a loading dock and was a charge to deliver to a residential address . Do you have any local or nearby dealers where you live ? If you make a purchase use a credit card , providing they say they have fraud protection and not give up your bank account # .

Does it bog then perform ? Are you bogging at top RPMs ? The only way to know or at least get an idea of the jet size is to remove the bowl and hope it is stamped with a number . Here is a link to help you see what size jets the carb uses as it has many to compare with www.jetsrus.com/FAQs/FAQ_identify_that_jet.htm A caliper is a must have to measure with . Harbor Freight has some elcheapos for 2 dollars and nicer ones as well . I bought a regular one and a digital one . The better ones are made of metal . Here is a plug chart to compare the color of your sparkplug tip with www.4secondsflat.com/plug_chart.html A jet kit is the way to go for fine tuning the carb instead of paying per jet on a multiple order . If it takes standard GY6 jets here is a kit www.partsforscooters.com/114-48-Main-Jet-Kit-CVK?sc=34&category=133078 On a 4T sometimes it will run better with the airbox instead of a Uni or K&N style airfilter . To get the most with a K&N and high end exhaust some porting of the head will have a higher flow rate . Well first off is the air filter clean an oiled ? Unis and K&N needs a special oil and should not be used dry . Inspect the jets for any varnish or dirt which will clog them up . Any spray carb cleaner with work . I also like to use a stiff solid strand wire to poke through a jet . Are you using the intake spacer ? I think MillSC said his scoot ran better without it when he put on a large carb and BBK kit . What size carb did it come with ? Can you post a picture of the custom air intake mentioned in your signature ? You are talking about your 150 correct ?

Well if you had Nationwide insurance and was covered for mayhem test rides you might be safe LOL javascript:%20addSmiley("%20:)")
I would have a meltdown if some one wrecked my scoot and did not have the full amount in cash in my hand .
I sold my TaoTao to a guy who was so impressed he had the cash in his hand before he came to a stop . He had a stock scooter that blew up and mine had a fresh Air Sal 50mm BBK on it . I took a chance since I know he is an experienced rider and sober .
Many of the dealers do not allow a test ride without a cash deposit unless its in the parking lot and not on the street . People are stupid and not as many have morals and values these days so I would be very weary and insist on a cash deposit and if they wrecked or damaged it in any way its theirs and paid for

I would change the oil to be safe along with the gear lube . Most use 10w40 and GL5 or 80w90 gear lube but being a manual it may require a thinner oil . My Echarm uses 10w40 in the gears and engine

Did you install a larger carb or at least a larger main jet in the carb ? If not you are running waaaaay too lean and will burn it up . Did you install the rings correctly ? Check the valve clearances . Did you use oil or assembly lube on the piston or install it dry ? When my old scoot fizzled on day two of owning it I took it back to see what was wrong with it . The dealer pulled off the hose from the valve cover and noted it smoked . It should not smoke . I had a hairline crack in the piston . Running too lean is one of the major causes of scooter engine failure since it runs hotter than it should since it is not getting enough fuel . This can cause the piston to crack , burn a hole through the top and swell up to where it seizes and ruins the piston , rings and cylinder . Pull out the sparkplug and compare its color with this chart www.4secondsflat.com/plug_chart.html If it is whiteish then you need to upjet . Here is a jet kit which will help you tune it and have extra jets in case you change the airfilter or exhaust and need to upjet again later .http://www.partsforscooters.com/114-49-QMB139-Main-Jet-Kit?sc=34&category=133078 Note the size of your idle jet as you may want to go up a size . My 2T never idled good for a long time and it got worse with a BBK . I had a 40IJ and went with a 45IJ and wow it was such an improvement . I think the 4Ts use a 32 or 35 IJ Check for leaks in the intake tubing and exhaust too

If it was running good before and now it is not and you have not made any mods , I would first drain out the carb bowl and remove it . Then you can unscrew the idle jet and main jet to clean it with any carb cleaner spray along with spraying the venturi too . The sparkplug cap can get loose or even pop off . Clean the airfilter . May want ta new NGK sparkplug . A loose , unhooked or cracked vacuum hose can make one run bad . I use SeaFoam to keep the fuel system clean . Fuel pecocks can go bad .
When the valves get out of adjustment it can run bad or not at all in extreme cases

Scrappy has a 52mm BBK and more www.scrappydogscooters.com/139QMB_50cc_Performance.html Scrappy also has a stroker crank too . Now Larry had a BBK and stroker but it made more power than variators could handle since they got eat en up . I have used this 50mm kit along with others and it is way better quality than most are and priced only 60 where is normaly sells for 150+ elsewhere www.spi-parts.com/gy6-airsal-81cc-big-bore-cylinder-kit-02350150.htmlAny bigger than 52mm would require case boring and I am unsure if there is enough meat on it to not be too thin if one did so . If you really want a hotrod lil scooter then get a 2t as they are faster , easier to work on and fun to outrun 150s with !javascript:%20addSmiley("%20:o")

Well car batteries are measured in CCAs and I would get a battery that was higher rated than suggested by the manufacturer to be safe in the event of a loss of some power . Scooters only use just a few amps so providing it is the same size physically and will fit in the battery box and lid yes a stronger battery is a great idea .
These small batteries most under 10 amps will get weak or even die ( more so in the winter ) if the scooter is stored and not ran or have a trickle charger around 1/2 amp hooked up to it . My 2T has sat for two months since it has rained more this year than it ever has ( my 2T has a Uni so no rain rides ) and I got it out yesterday and today with it starting up instantly . I think Larry installed a stronger battery since he installed a hot rod engine that required more power to start it up than the stock engine . I have read where some have a secondary battery to power a car stereo that they installed on their scooter

Well China has been known for making cheap junk , not just scooters . Many of the olders were bad but they have improved since so many of us buy them . Some brands like CFMoto or SYM are making a good name for themselves buy making a better quality product than most of the other brands like TaoTao . I have had many Honda , Suzuki and european two wheelers from mopeds to streetbikes when I was young . I had a Honda Elite and a Spree which I loved and rode it for 3 years . My Spree it was wrecked so I had to replace the broken forks and front tire . I rode like any wild teen would and only cleaned the airfilter , changed the gear lube and replaced the tires . Never once had an issue at all , not even a bulb burn out .
Weeeeellllll....... after being sick of putting 80 dollars a week of gas in my van and having two wheel withdrawals I wanted to get a scooter since they are cheap to buy , awesome on MPGs and run to ride . Well Honda MSRPs are outrageous as you can buy a decent used 600cc street bike or car for the price of a new Honda scooter . I had to have a new scooter as I did not want to buy one that was abused or possibly stolen . There is several China scoot shops in town so I looked around and compared price , selection and warranty . I have seen plenty of Peace and TaoTao scooters around so I guessed they were decent . I bought a TaoTao ATMa ( my first China scoot ) and I took it back within a 1/4 of a mile as the front tire had such a knot it was unsafe to ride . Got the tire replaced and rode it around the block since it was new and not broken in . The next day I go for a ride and dang it had lost power . I pulled over to see if something broke or came loose . Took it to the dealer since it was less than 24 hours old and under warranty . He told me the piston had a hairline crack and would have to rebuild the engine . NEVER in my life have had or heard of piston cracking on a brand new engine . I took it easier on the rebuild and it lasted 6 weeks and this time it burned a hole in the piston and it erupted into pieces . I had a mental meltdown and decided to do research on these China scooters as they are nothing like Honda quality . I joined the old place and posted about my misfortune . What was funny is my scooter dealer had replied to my post not knowing it was from a customer of his . I had another suggest that I get an Air Sal 50mm BBK as no way did I want another piston kit to tear up again . Ironic my dealer had just gotten in two of t the Air Sal kits and sold it to me for his cost and rebuilt it again for free . Im a big guy and crazy at times so I think I scared him a lil since I was so upset . The Air Sal ( made in Spain ) had a machined piston with a high temp ceramic coating to prevent heat damage and had aluminum cylibder instead of iron which also had the coating . It NEVER cracked and I saw the guy who I sold it to a few months ago still running good as he only had to replace the belt and tires so far . I let him test drive it since his old scooter blew up and he needed a scoot for work and just became first time father with a newborn baby . Me having 3 kids know how expensive they can be I took a loss to help him get on his feet since I had bought my Echarm and I loved it .
I have noticed how China metal is waaaaay softer than American , Japanese or German screws and nuts . I have had screw heads mar up with normal use of tools that normally never happen . I have also seen many China exhaust pipes seem to rot away and disintegrate .
I bought the CFMoto Echarm after reading up and watching the MRP video where they compared it to a similar looking scooter . The fact that it has EFI ( old Ducatti unit ) , LC engine instead of AC like most , disc brakes F&R as I hate cabled drums and it has a 2 year full warranty with unlimited mileage . Honda has a limited 1 year warranty on engine and drivetrain only . Mine even the tires and bulbs were covered .
I also have a Jonway Magnum which is a 2T and I am also happy with it . I was shocked to read many other Jonway owners said theirs was a lemon like my TaoTao was .
To me it is a great idea to buy a China scoot to mess with with such a huge supply of after market parts and mod options compared to name brand scooters that can be proprietary designed parts instead of universal like the China ones . I have built " white boxes " which is computers built with on the shelve parts since you have huge option of brands to pick from instead of being oddball like some HP and other brand name computers are .

Still Slow

My TaoTao ATMa came with 8g rollers and I went down to 5g since Im 200 lbs and it is very hilly here . Mine was a " secret 63cc " instead of 49cc . Now a 49cc is only 3 cubic inches of displacement so it is very limited on what it can do . Tuning the CVT with lighter weights is like a 12 or more speed bicycle is easier to pedal and you can go faster than a single speed bicycle . A BBK will have more power , faster take off and uphill , but may have the same top end , but not have to work as hard to maintain it . Does it takeoff fast ? A buddies Honda Elite ( a 2T ) has fast takeoff like a forklift up to 20MPH then acceleration slows down and tops at 35MPH . It is stock and been wrecked several times . You may later on opt to go up 1 tooth in the gears in order to have a taller final drive . Too tall will kill takeoff and uphill . Taller gears you would want even lighter rollers or sliders . The airbox protects against rain and has a mild restriction which helps the engine create vacuum as a restricted exhaust has back pressure . If you want to whistle with your lips you draw them up as you can not whistle with your mouth open wide . Similar effect on a small engine so air filter and exhaust on a 50 may hurt performance but they help with a BBK ( big bore kit , a piston kit larger than the 50cc ) . I put on a BBK 40mm to a 47mm and wow it had more power but with the unrestricted racing pipe take off was less since not as much back pressure as the stock pipe but midrange and top end were much better . Try a CVT tuning kit like this one with several weights to test out enviromoto.ecrater.com/p/14177743/prima-roller-weight-kit-16-x-13 you can mix em up like 3 4gs and 3 5gs to equal 4.5gs . These weights are for tuning and are soft so not for long term use . Cheaper than buying several weights sets with a per kit pricing . You can get a main jet kit with several sizes to test out like this one enviromoto.ecrater.com/p/14177743/prima-roller-weight-kit-16-x-13 . You should want an unsealed carb so you can adjust the air/fuel screw , have a clip on the needle to adjust its position . There is at least 4 types so compare yours with these www.partsforscooters.com/Street-Scooter-Carburetors-and-Parts

The clutch shaft may need lube . A valve adjustment should be a half hour shop time and prices vary from shop to shop .
The engine must be cold to get a proper reading to see if they even need adjusting . Any autopart store should have valve gauges with the bent tip for 3 dollars or you could bend a standard flat blade feeler gauge set of blades .
All 4Ts will need to have it done at least once , with some needing it to be done out of the crate . My Echarm needing it around 2,200 miles and I am almost at 18k miles and it still runs great .
Prodigit I would look on Amazon for the Haynes Chinese Scooter repair manual since I bought a used copy ( was like brand new ) for only 6 dollars with free shipping . New is around 25 or so there and at the sponsors here . It is a great weath of information , tips and exploded diagrams . I get one for every car I buy or a Chilton brand .
Stock rollers ? They may have started or already have flat spots which prevents them from " rolling " like they can do better when new and round . I replaced the stock rollers at 5,500 miles as they just started to get flat spots with Dr Pulley sliders after hearing how great they are . It is true sliders are waaaaaaaay better in performance and outlast rollers . The DRP has a thicker coating and is harder too . I have read only a few posts that said DRP was hard and ate up a stock variator and some prefered to use KOSO brand of sliders . With 12k of miles on them take off is faster and now I top out at 70MPH instead of 75MPH like I used to . The ECU has a rev limiter in my Echarm .
On my 2T I put on a Hoca bb torque spring base ( stock does not have BBs ) which allows to torque spring to spin instead of get in a bind . It does sound like I have several " gears " more so than with the stock base .
