About a month ago i bought a gates 30708 powerlink kevlar belt from napa, i paid about 10 bicks less than online and it was there in one day. The top ofthe belt were the writing is looked old compared to the same belts i buy online from ebay. Usually when i buy a new gates i have to use 11 gram rollers to keep my rpms around 7500 at 65- 68 mph , and as th belt wears i have to up the roller weights. So at about 2000 miles im up to 13 gram rollers. This is due to my cvt setup and how it wears the belts. But the napa belt seemed to allready be wore. I ha to start off with 12 gram weight instead of 11 g. So i ordered a new belt from ebay and it looked perfect . I installed it today and the 11 gram weights worked just right. I tried 12s first and was running 64 at about 6500 rpms and on a very small decline i hot 72 at 7000 rpms. So i installed the 11's and ran 68 at 7500 rpms. I will never buy a belt from napa again.

Was it the same size as the old belt ? Gates are good but I use Bando belts in my scoots since they are made in Japan instead of China . The belt from NAPA may have been made for a cars accessories instead of a CVT that moves up and down

Rubber dries out and that very well could explain why it was no good . The CVT belts sure do not last that long compared to motorcycles that are belt driven with a manual gearbox instead of a CVT .
Be careful buying belts on Ebay as I have read about some fake generics relabeled Gates or Bando

I have 2 reliable sources ive been ordering them from for about 2 yrs now. But u r right u hav to b careful. I usually replace them around 2000 mies due to my 2000 rpm main spring , and i ride my scopt pretty hard. So i usually go thru 2 kevar gates belts a season. I could probably get away with one but i like the feel of the belts when they r new . And i would have to kep upin the weights . A in grams to even out with the wear.

Glad I get 12,000 from my OEM belts.
Still can't wrap my mind on why a GY6 chews through belts so quickly though.
My Lance 150 went through a Gates or Bando Premium belt every 2,000 to 3,000 miles while my Aprilia 250 OEM belts last many times longer under much harder use. Biggest difference I can see between the two is that the Aprilia has a longer clutch shaft which is supported by a bearing in the CVT cover so that the clutch runs more true.
