New battery, new oil change, same old story. Starter kicks in and does not turn the motor over. Would you recommend replacing the EFI?

Got an 07 Piaggio BV500. 6K. Purchased at auction. Try to start and the starter just spins. Oil looks very old. Was told that this could cause the starting mechanism not to work. Do not know. Do you know of this problem and can it be fixed fairly cheaply? Thanks, Richard.

Could I just connect the fuel line directly to the carburetor and fuel filter and bypass the petcock?

tank looks clean the gas comes out clean. It must be the fuel pump. I tried to blow a little air n clear it hooked back up the lines but no gas floes.
Any idea how to fix the fuel pump?
P.S. Is the fuel pump also known as the petcock? Should I just replace it?

Hi guys,
I have a Suzuki Burgman 400cc 2004 model that recently is having a little bit of difficulty starting. The mechanic at the local Suzuki dealer recommended me charging my battery, since most of my riding is stop and go no-more-than-10 minutes. He suspects the battery has been drained and that is why I am recently getting starting issues. Before, I would fire the scooter right up, but now it takes 4-5 seconds for it to start.
I bought a 1.5 AMP motorcycle trickle charger with an automatic maintain mode so when it's charged it won't overcharge it.
I want to know how to care for scooter batteries.
How often do you guys recommend charging and caring for the battery? Once a week? Twice a week?
Thanks.

Thanks. I will check the tank and see if anything is clogged in there.

I have a 2008 TGB 49cc 101S off road sport scooter. It sat for a year in storage and now won't start unless I spray some carb spray in the air cleaner. It just seems to not get fuel. I bought a aftermarket fuel filter and gas won't go into it.
The Scooter has 1100 miles. The battery is fine. The carb might need cleaning but I'm not sure why it's not getting gas.
Gas is been changed out with new. Lines look good. Not sure if clogged, but I will clean the carburetor. It ran fine last year. Do I need another fuel filter?
What are your guys thoughts? Please help.
Thank you.

Were these catastrophic failures all at wide open throttle?

Hey guys, I was just curious about this. On a lot of videos and tutorials for valve adjustments, I always see people recommend to take the spark plug out. Why is this necessary? If I perform a valve adjustment without taking the spark plug out, will that affect me in any negative way? Thank you

Is your exhaust rusted out yet? My 150cc's Chinese scooter is severely rusted. Could that do any harm?

I am having carburetor issues and thought you might be able to help. The issues actually run a bit deeper than that so let me give you the full rundown and you can let me know what you think. The scooter is a Boss 50 (Ruckus knockoff). It ran fine. Then my wife got a 150 and it sat for six months. Then when I tried to start it and it wouldn't idle, just shut off. I first tried to increase the idle using the idle screw. That didn't work, it would just rev high and get stuck high for a second and then shut down.
I thought it might be my fuel line and fuel filter so I changed them both, still won't idle. Then I tried to clean the carburetor but the carburetor was the sealed type with no screw heads to remove the float cover. I bought a new carburetor and installed it today. Still won't idle, will start on kick but won't idle. But to add to that problem, there is white smoke coming from my intake manifold right under the clamp. I assume this is fuel and is burning off but it has done it all four times I tried to start it and I am afraid it might catch fire so I have just stopped messing with it. Plus, the intake manifold is plastic not metal so I didn't want to burn up the part.
The scooter is in my work shop with plenty of room to work on it. I'd like to know what you think. I would like the carburetor checked out and the idle prob fixed.
It's a 4 stroke basic gy6 motor. It just smoked when I re-installed the new carburetor.

Guys! It worked! I cleaned out the carburetor and the Jets and sprayed the inside of the carburetor, careful not to spray the gasket, and drained out the old gas and put new gas in it and it works like a charm. It's not cutting off at Idle anymore :-) thank you so much
