I have a 2007 RoadRunner Touring 250cc... one day i was riding it and it just just off on me while riding.... through a good friend of mine i met a guy who works at a moped repair shop we damn near tore the whole thing down... cleaned and rebuilt the carb, got new spark plug, new oil, gear oil, new battery... well it runs way better then before and accelerates faster and has higher top speed, but for some reason when the engine temperature reaches half way on the meter the engine starts to studder and shut off. and it will continue to do this over and over unless i let the engine cool down, mind you this is at half way on the reading... never actually overheats... maybe 10-20 mins of riding time i would say.... we cant figure out why its doing this... would anyone have any idea? btw its honda helix clone

How long has it been since ur last valve adjustment. The problem you are describing is typical of valves out of adj especially the exhaust. Yours are very easy to adjust since u have the Honda clone engine. Let us know how you do. Barnie

When it happens check to see if you have good spark,,Ive seen a bad coil work until it gets hot,,then the high resistance in a bad winding cause these intermittent issues also.Swap out the coil and CDI just to rule it out,,if you have an extra set laying around. also...

well one of the first things he did was adjust the valves so he said.... and he mentioned that i might need to get a new cdi, but when it happens i can tell before i stop... the throttle has no control and it just acts like its out of gas.. its crazy we have worked on this thing over and over and everytime it seems to run better and sound better but everytime it eventually will just shut off... thought we had it figured out we gave it a test run up and down a dead in street and thought ok was good to go... started riding on the main road and broke down had to get towed home it sucked.... hopefully i can figure this out

That is a interesting problem.. It sounds like a coil.. I will have to read your post, to see what it is. Attachments:

Coil, petcock, fuel filter, tank vent...I would not rule those out either.Loosen your gas cap and see if that helps.

Hi originalitykills I'm assuming you have a vacuum operated fuel pump, that could be causing the problem, many here that have vacuum operated pumps change them for a better quality one such as a mikuni..

I would suspect that it´s the auto-choke on the carb that is causing this problem...

When it dies on you, does it start up right away or do you have to wait some time before it starts? Also if it does start again ABOUT how long of a wait until it will start again? Alleyoop

I replaced my fuel pump with the DF-44 Mikuni and it made a huge difference, when this happens are you at WOT or climbing hills?

sometimes it starts up right away and actually will stay on for a second... other times it will start up but as soon as you go to pull the throttle it dies.. sometimes it wont start at all for quite some time... so i honestly have no idea... but ive been spending money on fixing this thing and im about out of money on trial and error... thing runs like a champ untill it dies for unknown reason
