I have a small bag that I transfer to whatever bike I am on. It has: 1/4" metric socket set with ratchet and two extensions 8,10,11,12,13,15,17,and 19 mm combo wrenches 6 way screwdriver medium crescent wrench 3 feet of wire and some crimp connectors 2 feet of fuel line with 3 clamps 2 feet of vacuum hose a tube of blue locktite $20 just in case
Add a bottle or two of water , my tool bag, and my rain suit just before the ride and I am ready to go. On me I wear a Leatherman multi tool, mini Mag light, and a cell phone. Each bike has the spare fuses and master links already stored.

having complete tools in your compartment is a cheap insurance,,// having a roadside assistance in the insurance is ok too but it takes them foreeever to come and get the scooter, AND they will leave you behind, unless you pay them extra to give you a ride. ..shooot!!! my goodness!

Fix a flat (or 12v air compressor) with tire-plug kit, the head-mounted light, spare screws, wire ties, loctite, rags, 1st aid, the top 3 or 4 sizes of socket/wrench that you use on your scoot, starter fluid, cell, cash, extra cell charger if you don't have cig. adapter, and any of 100 other good ideas you see on this board (the old board) over the many times this question has been asked

I don't go far on my scoots, and i like to think i keep them running good, so i just take my phone. If i feel it will strand me i'll fix the issues before i drive it off my block.

An emergency phone charger could be useful to keep around. I just bought one with solar panels :-).

The tool kit is an art. It's about reducing a necessary group of items to its smallest, effective form. If you're the aware type, your kit will change over time as needs and environment change as well as the likelihood of failure for certain components.

I carry a small set of cheap Stanley tools pliers , some extra nuts, bolts, duck tape, black electric tape, a few shop rags.
Basically the stuff for basic fixes that can be done on the road, I don't think there's any need to carry stuff to rebuild engine lol.
Tools that will help ya get back home, and if you can carry a spare cdi and other stuff that would go out and leave ya stranded.
Might as well hook up a Reese hitch to the back of scooter and pull a tool trailer behind ya, that way you can just keep a spare scooter in it. Just my thoughts. Lol
Peace

Here's one I just thought of after dealing with it recently: a set of jumpers that will fit your scoot's battery! My jumpers would NOT fit the terminals on the battery in my mother's motorcycle.
