The longer straw is usually for reserve from my experience working on older hondas,,they would drop the fuel level down to the top of the straw then you would stall out and have to flip over to reserve,,that way you never ran out of fuel unless you went to far on reserve After you hydro lock once you will always close your valve after that mess...lol..think I mentioned that earlier in this thread.

I usually replace them when they measure less than 18mm thats for a 20mm wide, much more than that and your RPM will be greatly effected..also chances of breakage are higher.
I would do it once a season just for safe keeps....they get dry after a few years if not used.Good to know a cheap no name will last 2-3K km...great for a back up under the seat to get ya home in a jam.
I run an 842-20-30 and can change it right on the road with no special tools,,its long enough that it will slip over the variator as long as you squeeze the clutch open as far as it will go to drop the belt down.I have a long case 157QMJ.

How many miles are on this scooter? Did you spray starting fluid around the carb and intake just to rule out any cracks or leaks? IF there are any the motor will speed up when you spray it.

geh3333 want to ride one with a pod filter and performance exhaust? Bring some ear plugs. John I could imagine. Mine is loud as hel . if I ride up the road without a helmet its crazy loud. My neighbor said mine sounds like a small harley when I rip up the alley,,he loves it!

Yeah,,I definitely wouldn't do it without a firearm or here in NJ I can carry a 7.5oz can of pepper spray(bear deterant) that sprays high power 30ft mist,,it will take down a crowd of people, turn their eye lids inside out, and have then laying in there own snot crying for mommie for a few hours gasping for air,,almost rather be shot.lol

When I had my old stock head I just capped off the hose with a rubber plug and zip tied it to the frame,,worked great,,now I have a non EGR valve cover,,awesome!!
So glad you found the problem man,,you thought it had something to do with a line....I even removed and plugged my ACV valve on my carb,,runs better,no popping on decel or anything,,the only holes you will find on my scooter are the fuel line and valve cover breather vent,,thats it..

Well this is starting to make a little more sense now,,Id like to ride one with a pipe and UNI jetted,,bet it would fly! Had my heart set on a Ice bear but might have to look into a 16 incher,,probably be a little cheaper..those ice bears are so cool though,,even though they are slow as all get up.

Yeah,,too bad we all live so far away,,Geh is about 300 miles,,I dont see many scooter dewd around here,,lots of big bikes.Actually I live about 80 miles from John so he is pretty close too.ID love to cross the country on a chinese scooter,,I bet we could make it,,heck Geh you already went across the country at least 4 times with your mileage,,I went close to once just across at 4800km or so..I would have had to replace a CDI and change oil and adjust valves once thats about it...only reason the CDI went out was cause it was faulty. It only lasted 25 miles.Keep playing the lottery guys,,if I hit it big I will fund the trip for all of us,,will pay for parts,food,fuel,hotels,ect....going to buy a mega-millions now

Wow,,this has bursted my bubble,,all the work($$) I did on my scooter with BBK,cam,head,pipe,jet,uni,cdi,coil,ect..and I still have a hard time reaching 65...lol..if he is doing 70 GPS verified thats amazing on a stock motor, maybe just short of a miracle,,wonder if 3" can really give you that much more without more power,,I highly doubt it,,but according to John these models have more power from factory,it may even be a stroker??,,Id like to see some measurements on heads,ports,valves,cylinder,ect...if this is for real a BBK on that thing should bring jerry closer to 80mph...lol..and please dont take this wrong jerry,,Im not accusing you of false info,,but a GPS verified would be awesome to confirm it...maybe you just have a fluke there?
Congrats on the bigger wheels and glad you enjoyed the ride!!

They are soft and easy to strip. I use an impact driver with a phillips tip. Works great, even on screws with partially stripped heads. Or do you mean the threads? You busted the head bolts too? Well, the head bolts snapped off flush about a week or so ago and I decided screw it I'll get a new cylinder head. While I was changing out the cylinder head I figured I would rejet the carb but just wound up stripping the phillips head of the screws and decided it's a project for another day. Positive was that the cap on my A/F screw was super easy to get out so I could tweak it, so that was a plus I guess. Just tapped it with a flathead and it slid right out of its position so I could pull it out with some needle noses. I'll give the impact driver a try the next time I have time to play with my carb and see if that works. Thanks for the tip! Finesse cappy finesse,,you have to be so gentle when torquing up on these motors,,just tighten the exhaust nuts till they bottom out then maybe a little snug more,,they snap so easy..everytime you change the oil just give them a quick snug to see if they are loose.I got the 8mm studs with my big port head and they are much better than the stock 6mm studs. You will feel the head bolts twist before they break,,they will start twisting about 18-20ft pounds,,if your talking about the head/jug studs that is. You gotta get that scoot back together,,we need more videos!! Those videos helped me get through the cold months man looking forward too more

Hahaha,,no worries Geh,,I knew you would like it,,yeah it seemed like I got up to 7.5 RPM pretty quick,.,what was going on was I had a pretty good head wind so you will see the RPM drop a couple at one point thats why I let out of it sooner and need to do it on a calm day and start back farther. For the way I ride I am pretty happy with the tuning on the CVT I do not think my belt is going all the way too the top,,I know its not because the face is dull at the top about 1\4"of it,,i thought the 842 would help but I think it didnt matter,,the sliders are 13g,and even on the center stand if I rip it up past 7.5K the belt stays put?
Im not too worried about it as long as it cruises 45-50 at 5-5.5K RPM,,thats perfect for me,,and if Im doing 40 and wack on it,,i have plenty of passing power. The scooter gets up to 50 MPH pretty fast now.If I remember correctly it only did 48 MPH before all mods.
BTW I was crouching both ways,,just my helmet was sticking up over the fairing...
I watched the video closely again and it almost seems like the RPM dropped a little to 7.3 and the speed was at 65 MPH,,the RPM was higher before at less then 65 so maybe the belt finally was getting to the top and if I would have stayed into it,,maybe 67 would have been possible with no wind?

Well if it fires with fuel injected into the intake like a propane torch then you have a plug somewhere from tank vent, tank,to pilot and main jet..I would see if you get a good stream of fuel at the carb inlet first while cranking the scooter,,just to rule out anything simple upstream from the carb.

I have 16/37 gears, stock variator,13g sliders, stock contra,842-20-30 belt, the clutch is a racing clutch and bell with stock springs.I weigh about 180lbs with all my gear on and have about 5 pounds of tools and parts under the seat. Not that the clutch matters for speed.

Hey guys I did a quick top speed run today and it worked out pretty well..I saw 63MPH GPS verified and 65 chinameter,,7.5K RPM. Im sure if I went to the next gear set up and dropped to 10g rollers it would do close to 70 no problem,,but I like it the way it is,,it has plenty of power and cruises perfect all day at 45-50 MPH 5K RPM. I guess the CVT is tuned in pretty good Geh Sorry for the horrible audio on the video,,i usually put a piece of tape over the mic to keep the noise gate on the cam from clipping in and out like it was..oh well you get the picture.
