If you use a lube that is oil based, all that rubber dust from your belt will stick to it and gum it all up.
I leave mine perfectly clean, but I have seen where people use a lube that actually dries.
I wouldn't, but that's just me.

Wattage, that's all I need to know.
I would assume if it's a 6 or 8 pole, it would still give at least 100 watts, correct?
Thanks for the help.

Easiest way to tell, and this is true for about 99% of the scooters... If your headlight comes on when you turn the key to power on everything, it's a DC. If your headlight comes on after you start the scooter, it's an AC. There are plenty of good AC CDI's out there, but the DC can be a little tricky. If it's a DC, get this one...

Thanks geh333, that's a good sign that what I am going to do will be fine. Also, my battery is 12 volt.
And I don't know what pole the stator is and I haven't looked at the regulator to know how many wires are on it.
I just have a lighting design I am going to put on one of my scooters and I programmed a microcontroller chip so that I can switch it to do different patterns I programmed. I am sure that that won't be a problem, it's the lights that I am worried about. It's going to be using that EL Wire, and I don't know how much the electricity the inverter uses for that stuff.

On an AC scooter, I wouldn't imagine it would matter on a DC, how much can you use the battery before the stator can't keep ahead of the charge?
Another words... On my AC scooter, the turn signals, the gauges, and the brake light, all work off the battery. They don't take much power or they aren't used very much to drain the battery. The headlight on the other hand, runs off the stator. If you hook the headlight up the battery, it's too much for the stator. I know, I had the headlights plugged in wrong once.
So how much can you put on the battery before the stator can't keep up with keeping it charged?
I'm not going to, but what if you wanted to install a stereo? Could it handle that?
Anyone know?

Not all of them are labeled. If it's not labeled, I bet it's pretty small.

When you say, "suddenly fall on its face", do you mean stops firing? Like no combustion of the fuel, then away from the dead spot, it starts firing again?
That's an odd one. Could it be the electronics in the CDI not working at certain rpms?

Similar here...
One of my scooters had a 105 that came with it. It was written on the head.
On different scooter, it wasn't written and my best guess was like a 103. Smaller than the 105, I know that.
After changing the air filter, I went with a 110 and ran fine, but recently discovered that it can handle a 114.

Yep.. You're right.
I even looked there and didn't see them.
Ok... jumped the gun a little bit.
My excuse.. I just had one fry out on me, and I mean fry. Melted down, and drained my battery.

Is there any dealer out there that has just the switch that goes on the brakes?
These are the ones that look like a plug that you would plug into a cigarette lighter, but in miniature. I don't want to buy the whole brake system just to get this switch, but I can't find them any where.
It's for a Tank Touring DE 150cc.

If you didn't mind going used, and where you're at is like where I'm at...
You could find a scooter on craigslist that doesn't have a title and get it for $150. Scrap the scooter for parts. Fix up the engine and slap it in your old scooter.
