When reading the title Scooter-van..Well I thought, you meant a scooter shaped like a van.. One of those Indian Tuk Tuk three wheel machines with a body of van. They had a clever idea of making one into a mini RV.. One person RV.. Pretty cool looking..lol

I would take the crank case off and see the condition of the belt + start it up and ride slowly to see where the noise is coming from. Since it appears to have something to do with the tranny, well maybe it needs a new belt..

Cabin Fever

Went to our cabin, on Lake Truman in Missouri, for 5 days. We fished and fished, but only caught small ones. There were plenty of big fish jumping but not biting. The biggest fish I caught was about 13 inches long and the biggest fish we seen jumping was 3 feet long. We bought the cabin from my father. It is approximently 22 ft x 18 ft. with kitchen, bathroom, living room, and a two bedrooms. Couch is a futon, two queen beds, and a bunk bed.. The shower is in another building. My sons brought a tent and pitched outside. The chiggers and mosquitoes were biting? LOL.. The shower building is 10 x 14 ft building. It is on a 50 ft x 150 ft lot. Insurance, taxes, and dues are $50 per month. A cabin lot sales for $16,000 for land only. There are cabins setup all around the area. Some live there full time and others just vacation. We have two docks we can use- apart of the Baptist KC Colony. A bunch of the other cabins are trailers. A community fire dept was there. Attachments:

My first scooter was a 1993 Yamaha Razz 2 stroke scooter. It had a wet clutch- took 10w30 motor oil in the transmission. The 2 stroke oil was mixed automatically by having different tanks. So you would add gasoline is gas tank and add 2 stroke oil in another tank- oil and gas would mix itself. I gave it to a friend whom kept it in his shed. I think he still has it. If so, I will get it back and fix it.. There is my 49cc scoot.. ;D Attachments:

Now I tried something different in 1996, to my Yamaha Razz 49cc scooter-2 stroke. Tried adding some stuff advertised on TV to make the transmission slick as wet ice on wet ice, in the tranny. It ran good but suddenly froze for about 1 second( rear tire started to lock up) and than freed up. A clicking noise than came. We could never find the clicking noise. Looked in tranny, looked at head, rings, ect.. It still ran o.k.. but made a clicking. I don't do anything anymore, that is not recommended by manufacturer or someone else tried and works. The 2 stroke engine in 1993, used 10W30 oil in the tranny.

Ya, those little 50cc scooters are good on gas milage and great because don't require insurance. I want one to get around in town on. I forgot a few things still yet. Forgot tags $18 per year due to licensing-about $100 total, I put on new brake shoes on rear $20, Brake fluid $7, one new back rim( Goodyear bent the rim in changing tire) $100, gear oil $7, 2 starter motors $120.. Another $360 added to the total cost.. So get 1.60 miles per every dollar added.

My father owned a Toyota station wagon in 1972. It took nearly 3 months for a part to come in. So my Dad sold it. This is much like the Chinese with scooters. They were not planning on shipping junky scooters to consumers and need parts immediately. This gave Toyota a black eye as well as China. Toyota fixed the problem and China has not. One important step China has made an error in, is treating people as human beings. People have tried selling Tank Scooters and when faced with a warranty- well China is to eat the cost. But China does not want to warranty products and puts the warranty on dealers. So a lot of dealers quit dealing in China goods. China never heard it said, to make money one has to spend a little money.. Customer service is terrible. They can sell over the internet, but until they do something to improve their image, most Americans will not buy Chinese scoots. Most Americans don't know how to fix a Chinese scooter.. The ones that do, are getting good buys..lol

Recall the cheap Toyota in the 1970's compared to American cars. This caused many Americans to become angry at Japan because they could not compete. But with inflation and all, over the years, Japan has caught up to us and may have passed us today. I know it is more expensive to live in Japan than the US.. But our auto industry learned to compete with Toyota. The same will occure with China, eventually. They will become higher dollar motorcycles and this will make prices fair. China has a GM plant. We have a Toyota plant. India might be the largest producer, I maybe mistaken..

I don't see this occurring.. China may work on some Harley parts today, work on some Honda parts today.. They are out to make a quick buck, but are in business to make money. After 2008, when the auto industry asked for a bailout, well GM sold shares to China. China now has a GM plant in China.. It is companies do this all the time. Company make a lot of money by expanding business worldwide verses staying in one country. But China is the largest population on the planet, so it makes sense that they need more industry to stay a float. Does this hurt us? Yes, because we can't produce as cheap. China also steals ideas from everyone. China does manufacture more motorcycles than any other country.

My Chinese 250 is still running good after 5 years of owning. Can do 70 mph into Jefferson City MO on 54 Expressway from Fulton. I don't see any point in buying a higher quality scooter, when this one does everything I need it too. Runs great.. It has 6700 miles on it. It really depends on several factors to why I would choose a Jap bike over a Chinese bike. If you plan on long commutes daily, well the Jap bike is better, but if you plan on 15 miles rides and every year a 250 mile ride- well a Chinese scooter might get you by. Attachments:
