Bought Roketa MC-13-250 scooter in February 2008, new from Extreme-scooters.com for $1700-.. 6700 miles Cost over past 5 years- 1 front tire $60, 2 rear tires $120, 5 fuel filters $10, 2 air filters $20, changed fuel line $15, vacuum lines $10, covered seat $20, added saddlebags $70, 4 spark plugs $30, 2 batteries $120, 1 rectifier $30, 2 helmets $130, grease $10, 6 quarts oil $30, decals $30, paint $15, pinstripes $10, led lights $15, Total $745- Insurance paid $309+ when blown over by storm.. $18 per month full coverage for 5 years $1080- $771 Total out Gasoline 70 mpg divided into 6700 miles= 96 gallons over 5 years. And $3 per gallon being the average price- $287 out.. So $1700 + $745 + $771 + 287=$3503 out and divide into miles 6700 mean I got 1.91 miles per every dollar added to scooter. Got to remember this is with cost of scooter and everything. Attachments:

Excluding my tools, following is true for my TAOTAO ATM50:
Purchase: TaoTao ATM50: $599 Shipping: $149 Tag and taxes: $249 1 windshield: $49
SubTotal: $1050
Oil: I have done 9 oilchanges. Each oil change is just under a quart. A gallon can host 5 oil changes, so that's $20/gal;
SubTotal: ~$30 on oil.
I've done 4800km, or just under 3000 miles, at ~$3,799/gal and an average of 98MPG. That's ~30 gal of fuel, or
SubTotal: ~$115 on fuel
Total: $1195; rounded off = $1200
I did $0.39/mi, or 2,5 Mi/$
No insurance.

Ya, those little 50cc scooters are good on gas milage and great because don't require insurance. I want one to get around in town on. I forgot a few things still yet. Forgot tags $18 per year due to licensing-about $100 total, I put on new brake shoes on rear $20, Brake fluid $7, one new back rim( Goodyear bent the rim in changing tire) $100, gear oil $7, 2 starter motors $120.. Another $360 added to the total cost.. So get 1.60 miles per every dollar added.

I consider helmets transferable, and therefore would not include them in the ownership/operating cost of a single bike. Saddlebags I would consider because they have a use and wear that, except in the case of expensive ones, rarely last beyond the bike they are bought for. Just my 12 cents worth (I adjusted for inflation). So in my opinion you did even better..

In my case, I'll be comparing cost/mile as versus driving my Titan pickup truck. In that case, I'm reducing mileage on the Titan and transferring it over directly to the scooter, so I'm assuming the cost of upkeep will balance pretty well. I'll have to change the oil more often; that's just over a quart for every 1000 miles vs 5 quarts plus a filter for every 6000 miles, plus I use synthetic in the Titan so that's double the price. Tires wear more quickly, but a full set of cheap tires for my truck is $750 while a pair of Kendas for the scooter is about $80. Pirelli's are about $25 more for the pair. The scoot should get 4x the fuel economy of the Titan. By my calculations, the fuel cost on my Titan is about .20/mile and the scooter should cost closer to .05/mile.
Now, if they would just ship my scooter so I can turn out some real-world numbers...

My roketa MC-05-127 with a sprocket change, actually has about the same gas mileage as the ATM50. It's a 125cc, so better acceleration, and faster top speed (about 60-65MPH GPS verified)
I just did the calculation, but because I just purchased it, and only have like ~400 miles on it (650km), and at the beginning there's always the biggest cost needing to be gained back; the cost per mile is quite high.
Give me a few more months on that one, and the total cost will go down; to almost equal my ATM50.
For the MC-05-127 I did needed to invest in the sprocket, which was ~$50.
