This is in response to the PM received: I have the drive belt available as well. Gates Powerlink 918x22.5 Belt is low-mileage; purchased off eBay, exhibited no slippage, wear, or unusual issues during the time it was on my bike. <Edit to add>I don't have the exact mileage I put on this belt, but I know it's only around 500 miles, definitely less than 700.</Edit> Available to anyone who wants it, $20 shipped ConUS.

Additional parts added: Due to interest expressed via PM, I'm adding some of the additional hardware I have for sale. Since some of these items will be fairly heavy, I would expect shipping to kill the deal some, but if you are interested in any of this, PM me with your location and I'll get a shipping estimate and final price to you. I have the entire transmission assembly available, including the rear drive axle/clutch, all assembled and in good condition. I also have the original variator on hand, but with one caveat: one of the screws retaining the metal cover plate broke off when I replaced the rollers. I rode with only the two remaining screws installed and had no issues. You may wish to drill out/replace the broken screw. The variator has factory-weight Dr. Pulley rollers installed. The kick/center stands are also available. Those have some surface rust due to the frame of the bike being parked outside after other parts were stripped. The rubber bumper on the center stand had worn down, and must be replaced. I had wrapped the hub with self-splicing electrical tape which proved to be too soft. All is in otherwise good condition, with both springs in place and smooth operation. I neglected to mention it in my previous post, but the factory handlebar is also available... If you wish to purchase any parts I have listed, please post your public "I'll take it" in this thread and follow up with your contact information via PM. Once Paypal payment has been received, I'll get the parts shipped out.

All, I've not posted on the board for a while, since my China scoot cratered. Bike in question is a 2013 Jonway YY250T, which is a Roketa MC54-style 244CC. Bike was purchased new in 2013, Only ridden for about 6-8 months before the main crank bearing died at 5000 miles. I've saved a lot of the parts, and would like to make these available for anyone who needs them. All parts are low-mileage and in good condition unless otherwise specified. Price includes shipping in the ConUS. Send a PM for additional information or photos if desired. First "I'll take it" with follow-up via PM and Paypal payment gets the part. Parts may be offered elsewhere, and offer may be retracted at any time without warning. Available parts: - Factory Carburetor - $35
- Factory Windshield - $30 - Normal wear as expected from 5k miles of highway riding. Some minor removal of black shading at base due to cleaning with Windex. Could be used as a spare if you wish to cut one down as a sport-style windshield.
- Original Seat - $75 - in good condition, no tears in material.
- Cylinder Head and Jug assembly - $75 - damage to motor was internal to crank, no issues are noted with this component. Cylinder walls are smooth and in good condition.
- Original Magneto coil - $30
- Brake Calipers, front/rear - $40 - calipers are still connected to master cylinder, but viewing windows on master cylinders have begun to crack, resulting in some leakage. Calipers are in good condition.
- Original starter motor - $30
- Front Shocks - $60 for pair
- Front/Rear wheel with rotor and tire - $100/each - Wheels are silver aluminum in good condition, with no balance issues noted during life of bike. Tires installed on rims are Shinko 429s with 1500 miles accumulated. Tires were installed at 3500 miles, bike was parked at 5000.
- Headlight buckets - $45/pair - Both are in good condition with normal light wear from bugs/driving conditions. The bulbs have been replaced with automotive-style H4 45-watt bulbs resulting in much higher output than factory bulbs.
- Taillight assembly - $25 - This is just the taillight lens/reflector unit. Module is in good condition, with some minor scuffing incurred during shipping.

Did you ever find a new rim for your bike? I'm going to be parting out my 2013 Jonway YY250T (MC-54 style) scooter soon if my attempt to purchase a replacement goes through...
I can take some pics if you are interested. I'll try to dig up a price+shipping for you if mine would work on your bike and you are in the ConUS.
Note that this is the 244cc mc54 style, not the 54b with the linhai motor. Not sure if the wheels are interchangeable.

Well, for whatever it's worth, used maxi-scoots are few and far between in my area. I see very few on CL and they are usually a couple hundred miles away. This is the first, and most promising option I've found. Storage - the TMAX has a much nicer storage compartment underseat than my YY250t. I can still add my trunk as well... If I could find a good deal on a Burg, Silverwing, Forza, Majesty, or Kymco, I would take it. I like the TMAX, don't need the power but don't mind having it since I do see some highway (non-interstate) travel, and my 250 was just borderline capable of handling the hills.

Went and looked at a used TMAX this afternoon. I really like it a lot, I like the TMAX more than the Majesty, just want to get some thoughts here before I commit.
Found it on CraigsList...
2009 scoot, purchased new in 2012, less than 6k miles, just now getting broken in, clean, except for a small scuff where it's been laid over once. Original factory tires still. Asking $4999. I'm ready to offer $4500 but I think it may be worth the full asking price. 500cc, Cranks easy, runs good , pulls hard, still lots of torque at 70mph, not even working hard.
Think it's worth it? Will need new tires pretty soon...

I think I just got a bad motor, but I'm still tearing it down to find out what the actual failure was. I changed the oil consistently...
Replacement though... I liked this one, but if I can't repair the motor economically, my preference would be to go with a bike with a higher displacement motor. I think the 250cc is working a bit too hard when consistently cruising at 60ish.

The headlights: My 'Roketa MC54b' turned out to be a Johnway YY250t, same bike, different brand. The factory 35W headlight bulbs are very weak. But, the headlight bucket is designed for H4-style automotive headlights. I replaced a lot of the lights, Tail/brake, license plate, running, and cluster lights with LEDs to reduce power consumption. I then swapped the headlights out with 45W H4 bulbs and it makes a huge difference. You will have to splice H4 connectors into the wiring harness but overall, it's an easy mod, and useful if you anticipate ever riding in dusk/dawn/night. Also brighter lights improve visibility to other drivers, so improve safety.
My bike had a good NGK plug so no problem there. Get a spare Gates belt, it's not a common size and you might have trouble finding one on short notice if you need it. Run the factory tires down, but you will enjoy the ride more once you get some quality replacements. My factory tires had a bit of a balance issue but it wasn't too bad; the aggresive tread caused more vibration on smooth roads at low speeds though. Trunk box too... the big factory box rattles horribly, and mine finally broke at the mounts. I bought the cheapest box I could find on eBay for $35 shipped and it's so much better. Opens and closes easier, no rattles, removeable, and actually holds my full face helmet.

Finally started the teardown on this last night and got the motor pulled off the bike. I'm taking lots of photos through the process so I can hopefully put it back together when I'm done. I looked through the spark plug port and can't tell for sure until I tear it down further, but it looks like there's a lot of scoring on the cylinder walls... I'm not where I can post pics at the time but will try to add some as the project progresses.

All,
As posted elsewhere here, the motor on my 244cc Jonway YY250T just decided to start shredding itself internally. What started out as metal flakes and dust in the oil has turned into metal shards.
I've started the tear-down process to remove the motor and repair if possible. While I have the motor out, would I benefit by the installation of a BBK? I've not researched those closely, but I've seen a couple that claim to upgrade from 244cc>260cc (not much difference). I've read on other forums (mostly buggy related) and the general consensus seems to be that the CN250 motor is best kept stock.
What does everyone else here think?

The China scoot was just an experiment in profitability and utility; since I had never ridden before, I wanted to try a cheap scooter. I've heard of people who just never get used to riding and I didn't want to spend a lot on a bike I might not want to keep. I expected the bike to last longer than it did, but I was definitely saving money on gas and the scooter was working very well for my needs. I definitely want a replacement, and would prefer a decent higher displacement scoot so the motor won't be working quite as hard. 5k miles of highway driving killed mine, but it was working pretty hard during those miles. I want a Yamaha Majesty or similar, but used scooters are very scarce in my area. I need to come up with something soon, I'm missing the best bike weather now. Another month and it's going to be miserably hot again...

Well, I think my scoot has kicked the bucket... still cranks and runs but it has rapidly gotten worse. After my 5k mile oil change, I drove the scooter about 120 miles more, then changed the oil again this evening. Many more metal flakes and a sheen to the oil that was obviously metal dust (followed a magnet). I then scooted around a couple of miles, pulled the dipstick, and could see metal in the fresh oil ON THE DIPSTICK. The clatter I initially thought was dry rollers and variator has suddenly gotten much worse, and now the scoot is starting to hesitate, and has less power. The symptoms I'm seeing look a lot like was reported in this thread: scootdawg.proboards.com/thread/51708...only without the total and catastrophic failure leaving me stranded on the side of the road (yet). I think I'll pull the motor and see what happened with the inside, but I imagine it's fairly scrapped. Time to start shopping for a replacement. Anybody wanna buy a parts scooter cheap? <Edit> 8 months and <5200 miles to failure. A total of $900 fuel savings toward the initial $1600 purchase leaves me $700 in the hole on this investment. I'm ready to just drop the motor from the bike and start tearing it down just to see what happened. If rebuilding is a cheap option, I may give that a shot. Insides can be replaced; top end can be swapped with a BBK(?).

That moly stuff looks interesting. Not normally a fan of additives but I might give that a shot. Other than that, I think I'll RTV a magnet in the drain plug to help catch shavings. Maybe up the frequency of oil changes a bit too...

My scooter isn't well: Jonway YY250t/244cc, only 5000 miles. I've always been very prompt with oil changes. During break-in, I changed oil at 0, 50, 100, 500, and 1000 miles, and then every 1000 miles after. I never noticed any issues. Until now. Yesterday evening, I drained the oil for the 5000-mile change. I checked the filter screen and was surprised to see a couple of tiny flakes caught on the mesh. I continued draining the oil, and then checked the condition of the used oil in the drain pan. I was alarmed to find that the oil had a shimmer to it, and had a number of tiny flakes of metal floating in it. Obviously a ferrous material; I moved a strong magnet under the pan and the shimmer shifted and flecks would follow the magnet. I'm assuming it must be from the lower assemby; bearings or crank. The scooter isn't burning any oil, smoking, or performing poorly, so not piston or cylinder walls. So what now? Drive it until it blows up and then replace the scooter? I was hoping to get at least 10,000 miles before failure as that's the pay-off point where the bike would have completely paid for itself in fuel savings. Spend a lot of time and money swapping the motor on a $1600 scooter that's already past the halfway point doesn't really sound economical either. Unfortunately, deep North East Texas isn't the place for finding used bikes on CL; most are around the DFW or Houston areas. I really would like to upgrade from a China-Scoot but can't afford the top-shelf brands new. Unfortunately, for my driving, I'm limited to 250cc or higher as I do a lot of ~60mph driving on the highways. I would like the size and convenience of a smaller 150 GY6 but that's not enough bike. Found a nice low-miles Reflex in Fort Worth: dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/mcy/4416737361.htmlAnother in Dallas in need of a little TLC: dallas.craigslist.org/dal/mpo/4420571533.htmlNothing useful locally though.
