The 400's are pretty trouble free. Check the weep hole on the water pump, if it's going you'll see greenish trails...

... ANY extra chance that will let someone know you are in their blind spot is worth having... I do agree at less than highway speed louder pipes make some difference. However, NEVER ride in someones blind spot. Loud pipes or whatever, it's a death wish.

If you soft seized there would be scuffs and scratches on your piston and cylinder. I never saw a good look at the cylinder but that piston looks fine. There is a lot of carbon in you combustion area. A you running really rich?? Do the valves properly seat? I would check that and put it back together and run that puppy...

With out knowing the exact mechanism/sensor being used i would check for obvious disconnected/corroded wires. Make sure you can make the light come on (meaning is the light good??)

The cam is by it's very nature bumpy they call them lobes. Normally the wear is noticeable as you run your finger across it. What do you have like 50,000 miles on your scoot? The cam is a substantial large hard chunk of metal. I would suspect everything attached to it before the cam itself. The only bad cam I have ever dealt with was in 2 pieces, it was in a Honda Accord with 160,000 miles besides the 2 pieces part it still felt and looked good...
