Im too busy spliting lanes on mine to listen to much music. I've actually tried it, it's a bit more work. I'm usually running a camera or two, a voice recorder with a lapel mic in the helmet. Music would be just another thing I'd have to hook up/etc when I'm getting ready to ride.

EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. The head has an some extra plumbing on it.
My 150 Verona doesn't have the EGR system, I have a Buddy that has an almost identical bike, his has it, and it's a dog compared to mine. The MotoBrovo hornet I rebuilt, had an egr head, it too was a dog compared to mine. I was just wondering if it is the egr head is the difference.

I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed that the 150cc scoots with EGR heads seem to be a bit slower then the one's with the non egr headed scooters?

Just an idea of what can be had. My buddy bought a used (22,000 on the clock, yeah high mileage but great bike), Piaggio BV 500 for 1500 bucks. The guy also had a reflex for the same price.. Lower miles but salvaged title, but it was spotless clean, it had been dropped on the driveway once, insurance totaled it.. hence salvage title, the affected plastics had been changed and he had pictures of the damage before repair. If you look on craigslist, especially at the end of the season, you can find some really awesome deals. Just always make sure the title is clean, in hand, and that the bike has current registration.
In California, back registration can easily be more then a bike is worth. If you have a buddy that works on bikes or scooters, have them go with you to check it out. Then get out there and practice, practice and practice some more.
Oh and he might of meant, it's liquid cooled so it doesn't need valve adjustments as often. Both of those bikes are liquid cooled.

That picture looks more like the motor floated or dropped a valve.... was it over-revved?
Looks like the piston and valve had a disagreement about who could occupy the same space, at the same time.

The coil wire might be shorting to the fame somewhere... It would just act like a big o'l kill switch... it would explain why you have spark when you pull the plug... and when you put it back into place, it won't fire.... (a shafed part of the coil wire, making contact with the fame when the plug is in the scooter) quick test would be to re-route the plug wire and see what happens.

On a similar note, I'd like a mount for my cell phone. (which I use on the road like a gps) anyone have some suggestions? I ride a Verano 150 (retro style, or harritage style or what evah they are calling it this year)... I'd like something that clamps on the bar, and is inexpensive....

ok, check it at the float bowl drain. Is there fuel in the float bowl? I know you checked it after the filter but, when you pulled the line at the filter, the pump would be pushing fuel down hill, rather then uphill (like going to the carb)... If you have spark and compression, then it's a fuel problem. If you have fuel at the float bowl, then check to see if it will run on Carb cleaner. Either shoot a little bit down the carb throat or down a vacuume line. If it fires up, then it's a fuel problem. You could have a plugged jet, or someother madness going on in the carb. If not it's time to check compression and spark timing(you said it has spark). If compression is low, adjust the valves. If the spark is fireing at the wrong time (sheared woodriff key) it may still have spark, but have spark at the wrong time in the cycle.

I just used a fuel filter wire tied to the frame on my 150de. It works pretty well.

I'd also think about putting the stock rollers back in it, until it's running properly.... why? Becuase then you know what the Scooter should be doing. Then see what the sliders do when the scooter is running correctly. Always change one thing at a time to see what the results are. That way if something doesn't work, you know exactly what part or adjustment made it better or worse.
Did you clean the jets as well? I'd also look for vacuum leaks. A large vacuum leak will cuase a lean misfire, it won't idle correct and in general misbehave. You have taken the carb off the engine a couple of times now, so, check that intake manifold. They like to crack.

The honda elite 250 manual is what I have been using (thanks, one of the admins put me on to it.)...
I wish the scan of it was a little better, but, it has the torque spec, ring gaps, etc. in it. All and all it's a real life saver and I am greatful for it.
It's in the manual section of the forum.

sometimes you got to pull down on the fearing to get it to clear the studs. (very carefully).... and there is screws for an inner fender also that can hang you up, along with various tabs.
If it's like the older flagship model, there is also two or three bolts per side, under the floor board, where it starts to meet the knee guard.

I'm not familiar with that bike, but from what I've seen on other bikes with front fairings, look inside above the tire, there is usually a support that it also bolts to on the inside of the fairing.

Actually I didn't know there was one for the 250. I have one for the smaller scoots (150cc gy6)
I will defiantly download it as we have two and maybe a third one of these 250's in the "fleet"
