And in california, they would ban it, and not only becuase it looks like a gun. They would come up with some law, reasoning, that you will cook more meat and offend the weed and seed eaters of Davis and Berkley. If it weren't for the weather, and my friends..(not in that order)...

My 150cc gy6 vintage (verano 150) has been gps'ed at 57 flat ground with me (305lbs) on it.... I don't feel the frame wobble as much as the braking is just not adiqute. It felt fine when it toped out at 53, but that 5mph seems to have made a bit of a differnce. Espicailly the rear brake...

It could be the stator bell is becoming de-magnitized.

The more I'm thinking about it, it's acting like valve adjustment. When was the last time you ran the valves on it?

might wanna check for vacuume leaks too. These scoots have alot of vacuum lines and the intake manifolds do like to leak as well. Vacuum leak is gonna make it like it's a litle down on power and make it not want to idle or have a real inconsistant idle. How many miles on the bike?
While the helix clone does need valve lash adjustment from time to time, they need it no where near as often as the air cooled GY6.

I'm not a huge Helix fan but I kinda like the second helix. Any particular reason you prefer that over the first Helix? Yeah...I'm not sure I should get a 500cc for my first scoot...and honestly, the thought of Italian repair costs kind of scare me. Personal taste... I like the seat and back rest on it better. They are pretty much identical other then that... (didn't pay much attension to the milage)

I'm just wondering because the two I've riden with the egr systems have both been dogs. The one's without it seem to be a bit more peppy.

did you drain the old gas? It could be the carb plugging up, or it needs a valve adjustment... is it a four stroke?

I ride mine about once a week.... but it's a long ride... I probably do 70 miles every friday on my 150. I run to work and that's about 15 miles, then to roseville after work, another 15 miles... we and my buddies mess around in roseville, 10-20 miles, then back home, another 20 miles or so.
I've yet to have a problem with the battery.

I'm not a huge Helix fan but I kinda like the second helix. I'd ride it.... and of course I'd ride the heck out of the Aprillia. Remember, the Aprillia might be a bit much as a first bike a 250 is a tad heavy for a first bike as well, but it's much more manageable and is the smallest bike that would fit your needs but the April might be better suited for your commute (~20 miles freeway commute) The April will be happy on the freeway and beg for more. The Aprillia is gonna be heavy and very fast. It has the same Engine as the Beverly 500 (Piaggio BV 500 and that piggie can do 100 plus)... The Aprillia will have a oil filter which means you won't have to service it as often, put parts are more costly. The Honda's will be happy with conventional oil, but the April will want synthetic. Just a few things to keep in mind.
