I nearly got hit 7 times from the time i turned into my apartments til i got to my parking spot. UGH!!!!!!!!! Other than that, put about 50 miles on Kitt today.

The trick is to keep your distance from cars also called cagers . If you have a slow scooter than ride on the right side of the lane and yield to allow cars to pass by so they are not riding your tail and ruining your fun . I love to ride at 4 am since I have the road to myself so no worries only smiles . If you have a fast scooter like mine I tend to jack rabbit at green lights in order to be ahead of cars rather than around then in heavy traffic .
Always drive like everyone else is a drunkard and always be ready for the unexpected actions like those texting and not paying attention

That Yamaha Majesty 400 is not really what you would consider an invisible bike either. What color is your riding gear? Since I changed from dark leathers to a reflective Silver Ignitor riding jacket from Leather Up and a Silver or White Full Face Helmet instead of a Black Half Helmet the not seen at dusk/night incidents have almost ceased.
Another simple thing is going from standard to Sylvania/Osram Xtravision headlamps. They are available at Walmart only costing a few dollars more than OEM and throw a wider beam around the bike and about 30% further down the road. Might also be time to polish the headlamp lenses if the coating has in any way started to yellow or cloud up.

Got hit 3 times last year by folks pulling out of parking lost at stores.."I didn't see you!" I said you will never see if 1. you don't look and 2. If you don't put down the cell phone or GPS. Luckily we both locked brakes and it was just a light tap on my leg Did twice have 2 different Scoots run right over at Wal Mart 2 years ago. They both said.. "I didn't see it parked there..I thought the parking space was empty..so I zipped into it".. Odd..but I did sort of a pseudo poll here..when we Scoot riders are driving our car..we see EVERY Scoot...motorcycle..bicycle....pedestrian etc. So why is it that the cagers can't see us?

howdy, y'know, i have considered that didn't see it and zipped in thing too and now pay some attention to where and how i park as in park with the scoot visible when driving down the line looking for a spot. or i park alongside a larger scoot or in some alcove near the building or---
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

Here in PCB it's bike week and I'm not so much worried about the cagers this week. Bikers come from all over just to act stupid for a week. Last night I was in the car and watched as bikers came flying out of parking lots at WOT snatching the front wheel off the ground. The speed limit is only 35 but flow of traffic limits speed to about 25 and i had few ride my back bumper for miles. I couldn't speed up or i wouldn't have been giving other bikes space. The same goes for spring break scooter renters. They fly around in between cars passing on the left and right as cars are at a dead stop. I am now convinced scooter OWNERS are the safest drivers on the rode.
Stay safe and always watch out for the one you can't see.

I grew up near PCB and life guarded at Shipwreck for several summers in high school and college. The tourists come down and rent 50cc scooters because all they need is a drivers license. Most of them have never driven a 2 wheeled vehicle before other than a bicycle. They drive up and down the strip in packs, honking their little dinky horns every 3 seconds; especially if they pass a girl.

If you park a scooter too far into the space many cage drivers won't see it until after they are committed to the turn and then its too late. I park the bike closer to the entrance of a parking space now so it can be seen when there is more time to steer away without hitting anything.
