Wait we have people on here who do 60 on a ATM 50 like daily. Will it go that fast if you increase the tire pressure to 40psi, I think that may be the secret... Oh crap...Gary left out tire pressure!!! That does now that you mention it..make certain stock scoots hit 60 mph on a daily basis..know what?..forget 40 psi..tomorrow I am pumping mine up to 80 psi to get twice the speed...120mph..although my tires are rated at 90mph.. But he did suggest Nitrogen..what it does in cars...scoots and motorcycles I have no clue. But we did use it in aircraft tires in the military due to altitude and atmospheric conditions. I never can get my scoot airborne..so maybe I don't need it?.. On a serious note...why Nitrogen in land based vehicle tires? What does it do that air can't do? On land based vehicles, Nitrogen just costs more money then air. LOL It's suppose to be more temp stable, migrate less thru the rubber in the tire, and ensures you don't get moisture in the tire from the compressed air source.

Almost forgot.... Gas powered bikes, fit no legal def here in california... The don't class them as mopeds because they don't have automatic clutches.... so therefore are not allowed on public roads.... Oh, and the kits are not legal for sale here either.... Nice (yup, since I'm a rebel, I have one and yes, I do ride it on public streets)

My jurisdiction is a bit weird. The DMV hand book says you need a M1 period to ride a scooter... doesn't matter if it's a 50cc or not. All the cops we have talked to have said, nope... you don't need an m1 for anything smaller then a 150... so? Me and my buddies are just not sure. We are all working on our M-1's tho, just in case. I do have insurance on my ride, and it's registered... but I'm still on it with a permit. I"m trying to make time to go to the class as I don't really want to take the "Lolly pop"... The practical is kinda nasty in California

Something to consider... Take a look at your cell phone... If you have a high end andriod or an Iphone, chances are they were built in China... If you have a cell phone (like mine) chances are it too was made in China. You can get high quality goods or dollar store quality goods out of China. It is more about the spec a particular item was made to and the quality control used to evaliate the final product.

I actually kinda like a little popping when I let off the throttle... Especially on the old Long bow with the ebay exhaust... I get a little blue flame out of it at night, and it's just cool.... LOL Probably not good for the ebay muffler, or the engine... but it's like an old can am racer...

I'm not sure here in california if you can run the light... I'm gonna ask when I go to the Motorcycle Safety class.

Depending on the scooter, it runs about 65 bucks in my neck of the woods. The valves tighten over time. The scooter will become a little harder to start, a little cold blooded and have the annoying habit of dying at intersections. If it starts doing any of these things, get it done pronto. They can and will burn exhaust valves, if this condition is ignored.
Service intrival has been about 2500 miles for my scooter, but it does vary from bike to bike....

I actually really like those. I saw one at the local show room (drool).... The only problem is my next scoot is gonna be a 250 plus or a Ninja. For what I wanna do, I might even need a 300 or 500 class scooter. I'm talking running on the 101, and hiway 80... from Sacramento to the Bay... The Helix is actually starting to look very tempting even tho I've never been in love with the looks. The more I do research tho, the more it starting to grow on me. Besides that, I've always been a Honda Fanboy, even if I drive clones... Now, if I could find one with a factory stereo... (did the Helix have stereo's?)

Usually you work from the front to the back, or the back to the front depending on the scooter. At least that's what has worked for me. On the Retro's it's alway back to front for example. My shenky 150de is front to back. Another thing to look for, on soom scoots there are hidden screws under the rubber floor mats or trim pieces. I have aluminum plates on my retro scooter and there are bolts under those for the floorboard.

I just don't ride in the rain if I can help it. I do keep good tires on my ride tho, just in case and I almost always ride with a full face helmet, I do have a 3/4 face but I don't like riding with it much as it really messes with my eyes. NO BRAIN BUCKETS ALLOWED....

Missouri would charge me 7% of total cost. You lucky bugger! Standard VAT (sales tax) in the UK is 20%! Some things get a concession, but not many. And that includes online sales. FPMSLOL. You gotta love you liberals at times. Just be glad you're not riding/driving on British roads. Then you'd know about taxation as a form of slavery. You Yanks (a term of endearment from this Limey) don't know how easy you've got it! Ian That's the problem. We don't want America to become like the UK. Yes we are lucky, and there is no other place in the world I'd want to live.. Oh yeah, there are other places I'd love to visit, UK being one of them, most certainly, but I love America. Unfortunately it is quickly becoming a nanny state, where taxes are used to modify behavior or have the citizenry meet the states expectations. /end rant
