Here's a unique thought, maybe you need to take it "to the guy" before you throw-in the towel. It could be something relatively minor. JMHO

Thanks for the come-backs. I was planning to replace the belt, since the computer is calling for it, and I had read on another forum about the clutch and rollers. That'll have to be a project for this fall, since it's my Florida winter bike and is stored for the summer. I guess I'm stuck with my Honda Reflex... oh, wait, that's not so bad. :-D

I was, sort of in your situation with a Tao Tao 150. Although I have a Honda Reflex at home in Georgia, here in Florida, while snowbirding, I was riding the Tao Tao, which was ok for around town riding, but, when I got out on the road, people would "blow me off the road" even though I was doing 50+ mph. After having experience with the 250 cc Reflex, I decided to go bigger for the wide-open roads here in Central Florida and went with a 400 cc Yamaha Majesty. I have to say it was a world of difference. I actually feel much safer on the Majesty even than I do on the Reflex. So far, I have not found the maneuverability around town to be an issue. Once I test-drove the Majesty, I was sold. Whille my wife was decidedly not happy, I am still smiling.
The 400 cc is not as heavy and bulky as the 650 maxi scooters, but, is still a good stable road machine. IMHO

Just bought a 2006 red Yamaha Majesty with 16+k miles on it (well 17k now). Still learning about it, but, loving it. Saddly, I'm going to have to lay it up for the summer, since I'm a Florida Snowbird, and going home to my Honda Reflex. So, I guess this means I am out of the chinese scooter arena, since I sold my Tao Tao. Wow, am I impressed with the Majesty. This is a great bike on the road. I like my Reflex, but, the Majesty is an altogether different class of scooting.
My only concern is a shudder and a clink from the clutch area on start off, which I'm reading is common for this bike, something about worn sliders. But, it is super smooth and comfortable on the road.
How many Majesty owners do we have on the board? I don't see many posts about them, which concerned me at first. Are they that solid that there is no need to post about them?

I am trying to register for the majestyusa board, but am not having any luck. The link for the admins does not work, and no one is responding to my registration request, although when I try to re-register, it says my e-mail address is already in use. Do any of you know how to get in touch with an admin for that board?

I had that problem with my 2010 TaoTao, after I filled it. Basically I then put some Seafoam in it and rode it until it started acting right again. This may not be the right thing to do, but, it worked for me. I was thinking I may have gotten some trash in the gas. Over filling may have done it too.

Congratulations, you should get lots of happy miles out of that one. I've got a 2005 sport, and I love it. I bought it a year and a half ago with 1,600 miles on it. Great bike.

It's not just scooters, I had two friends on a Harley get killed last Sunday in Michigan by a woman who didn't notice traffic stopped in front of her (texting?) and swerved into the oncoming lane and hit my friends head-on.

Lukain, I enjoyed following your exploits on the old ScootDawg forum. Thanks for the update. Glad you got it running again.

I run no ethanol gas in my CY150, and I found I get better fuel mileage with + Octane. That's my experience, yours may vary.

Ramblin man I can sure relate to your problem, glad you got it solved. I wish I could get mine solved. I'm replacing the brake rotors on my GMC 2500HD and they used some sort of white thread locker, almost like plumbers dope, on the bolts that hold the caliper mounting bracket. I finally got the front, but, still have to do the rear. Even my Dewalt professional electric impact, which has more power than my air impacts, would not budge the bolts. I finally had to use a breaker bar, and pry it up with a 2-ton jack. Even once I got the bolts moving, the thread-locker would not release, and they fought me all the way out.

I don't have any links. They were reported on the TV and the newspaper.

Have a great time on your trip. If you get anywhere near Sebring Florida, give me a shout. We're heading down in a couple of weeks, and will be back and forth several times this winter.

I had a neighbor girl, maybe 14, riding a trail bike with old, hard, knobby tires come down my hill, a little too fast. She panicked and hit the rear brake, and it didn't even slow her down. She hit the curb, flew off a bank and landed upside down, unconscious and bleeding, in trees and rocks. They had to life flight her to the hospital. Just sayin'.
