If you don't stay in the left 1/3 of the lane, they will try to pass you, even when the oncoming lane is not clear, and crowd you in your lane, or possibley hit your or run you off the road. Or, even if they change lanes to pass you, they lose sight of you in their rear-view mirror, and pull back in too soon and cut you off. Hold your lane, it's unsafe to do anything else.
