Just bought a 2006 red Yamaha Majesty with 16+k miles on it (well 17k now). Still learning about it, but, loving it. Saddly, I'm going to have to lay it up for the summer, since I'm a Florida Snowbird, and going home to my Honda Reflex. So, I guess this means I am out of the chinese scooter arena, since I sold my Tao Tao. Wow, am I impressed with the Majesty. This is a great bike on the road. I like my Reflex, but, the Majesty is an altogether different class of scooting.
My only concern is a shudder and a clink from the clutch area on start off, which I'm reading is common for this bike, something about worn sliders. But, it is super smooth and comfortable on the road.
How many Majesty owners do we have on the board? I don't see many posts about them, which concerned me at first. Are they that solid that there is no need to post about them?

howdy from an owner of a machine that at least doesn't advertize as chinese made... piaggio.
it seems to be a step up from needing to carry tools and parts to make it across town or down the road.
i have ridden the t-max 500 but not the majesty and must say it was a very good handling machine.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

Had an 07 Majesty for 18K trouble free miles. I had the factory wind deflectors and factory touring windshield. You have a great machine there, enjoy! David

I tried to steer you to some help on another forum (different user name on that one). I don't remember you mentioning the shudder on take off, just the clink. Generally, a shudder ia an indication that the clutch pads are glazed, and easily fixed by giving them a light sanding. It doesn't take much.....just enough to remove the shiny areas. You are going to have to pull that cover off and have a look see at both the variator, and the clutch.

Probably the belt and roller service is due or was done only partially by the previous owner. Deglazing the clutch pads and greasing the clutch spindle is ofter a service that is missed and needs to be done on just about any make of scooter any time the clutch pulley is slid off the spindle to service the rollers or belt even if you don't end up replacing them.
They are a solid bike and quite reliable. The only negative I hear from Majesty 400 owners I have worked with was they wished they had gone with the Burgman 400 for the additional storage space under the seat where there is room for 2 full face helmets along with slightly better passenger accomodations.

I had one a 2008 and I also did many video's on this scoot, it had 10k on it when I traded it in but before that I rode it the scooter rally in Eureka Springs, AR and it did it perfectly. In my video's I did a lot on the "clink" sound and I did find that the clutch has rubber dampeners and they harden and don't allow the sections to come back softly, they slam and that's your "clink" noise.
I replaced the clutch assembly and the second season it started again and another note I was looking into since you cannot buy the dampeners from Yamaha I researched and looked at Kymco and also Honda since they use basically the same process but it is more improved and these manufacturers don't have this problem but you can buy those from them it was a cheaper alternative that I was looking into but dropped it because I got rid of it.
There was a recall on the fuel pump and I had mine replaced because it failed at no cost because they did it under the Transportation Act.
Enjoy..

Thanks for the come-backs. I was planning to replace the belt, since the computer is calling for it, and I had read on another forum about the clutch and rollers. That'll have to be a project for this fall, since it's my Florida winter bike and is stored for the summer. I guess I'm stuck with my Honda Reflex... oh, wait, that's not so bad. :-D

I bought a 2005 Majesty in April 2015 from a dealer in OH (I live in PA). Around July 2016 (less than 1000 miles of riding) it became just a paper weight. It's been at a local dealer in PA since April 27, 2017. I thought it was the fuel pump issue but it was serviced in 2008 before I bought it. And this dealer as put on a new starter and I had to get a throttle body carburetor because they thought the idle control needed replaced. But it isn't sold separately (bought them on eBay). It starts up now but when the mechanic revs it up, it eventually stalls. Not sure what to do with it. It's been over a month since I've been to that dealer so maybe I'll just go stop by again because they NEVER call me.

Enjoy your new ride! I am in Florida on a permanent basis so, if you want someone to ride - um, "look after" - your Majesty while you are up North... I have seen some used Majesty's on my local Craigslist, and I like them a lot. In fact, I think there is a link to one currently in the "Interesting Findings on my local Craigslist " thread... I recently bought a 2017 leftover Kymco People GT 300i, and I love it! Looking forward to the windshield arriving...
