OK, got my parts, and I have the 80cc upgrade installed. Do I need to open the valve clearances? They are currently set at in: .003 out: .005. I will also be working on the cvt tomorrow and will post some pics of the drive shaft and drive to see if everything looks good to y'all. Thanks again. You should be fine with those settings. I've been setting both of mine to .003 inches for the last seven years on a 50cc, 63cc, and 72cc(aka 80) engine, with 3-4 different engines.

I've never oiled the stock air filter.
EDIT: That's new to me. I know some performance free-flow filters get oiled, but honestly have never oiled the stock one.

Finally adjusted the valve (singular) today. The exhaust valve was a bit tight. The intake was surprisingly set close to .004 or so, so I just left it as is.
Cleaned the carb thoroughly which had some dirt around the intake area and underneath the diaphragm. Plus the outside needed it, too. When I saw dirt inside the airbox tube that threw up a red flag.
Not sure what the deal is but my stock foam air filter is only about a 1/4 inch thick. Not sure what is up with that, but whatever. The scoot is running a bit better after the valve job and a clean carb, so I'm happy.

Hahaha, the oil leaked and soaked in all over the box, when I got one of my engines. The fedex guy said, "THEY SHOULDN'T PUT OIL IN THERE LIKE THAT!". He was mad! The box they shipped it in was originally for an ELECTRIC push mower, lol. I mean, it looked like something you'd find in the toy aisle at Wallyworld.

Sounds like the valves may need adjusted? It's usually the culprit when I have starting problems like that.

When you hooked the petcock back up did you hook up the vacuum line, too?
It could be the valves.

Wow 4g weights are RIDICULOUSLY light for you and that scoot! Try like 6.5-7g at least. I would weigh them. Maybe check your spark plug too. # seems lean for an 80cc(aka 100) with a free flow filter AND pipe. I could be wrong though so don't hold me to it, since your carb is much bigger than mine-- IDK..

Take the variator off, then turn the engine with the flywheel to see if you still hear that sound. Look at the variator to make sure it's not toast-- the posts the 3 v-guides ride on. Then, by hand, forcefully move the crankshaft in/out/up/down on the variator side to check for play.

My original belt was changed out at 10,500 miles (16,800 km) What brand belt was it?

Your rpms will be WAY higher with a belt that is worn thin. Measure the width of the belt-- I believe around 16mm maybe 15mm is danger zone.
I can't remember what mm mine wore down to, that scoot forum is no longer around and neither is the belt.

I've split my case 3-4 times and have never seen anything like that. It looks nothing like failed bearings, IMO, and I'm sure urbanmadness would agree. You'd have a ton of tiny silvery metallic flakes all over anyway.
Not sure what engine you have, my experiences are from the 139qmb, and it looks like it doesn't even belong in the engine anywhere...period, IMO.

Just more unnecessary wear having extremely loose valves. It may not even run all that great on top of that. .004" made my scoot perform worse. I can't imagine .006"-.007" on a 139qmb engine. I see that's a 50cc. I don't know if it matters. I'm not telling him what to set his at, just that mine seemed to be too tight at 004-005. I understand. Personally I set mine to .003 inches for both. The recommended on mine is .002 inches or about .05mm. Oh well whatever works, lol.

Well for me my stock gears in the gearbox were 51/15. I have 49/17 in there with a 72cc. I've been debating taking the middle ground and trying the 50/16 gears and using heavier rollers. Mainly to see if my top speed is better during windy days.
