I don't see how a fuel shut-off valve is going to solve whatever the problem is. All the petcock does is open up when vacuum sucks the diaphragm--- the vacuum isn't literrally sucking the fuel itself. It's just opening (sucking) a door to let the fuel in. Neither the petcock nor the shut-off valve are forcing anything. The problem has got to be somewhere else, IMO. You are right onewheel! The original problem sounds like a float or needle valve issue,,or fuel going back down the vacuum line into the intake....but if he replaces the petcock with a valve that will eliminate the vacuum line if thats the cause... Yeah he mentioned his vac line was dry. The vacuum petcock should be ok if the vac line was dry and/or no gas came down when sucking the line by mouth, and if the gas stops when no vacuum is applied to the petcock. If the line itself is good and clamped on matters. Who knows, lol.

Well so much for finishing tuning my K&S variator tonight. I was on a test run with 14 gram weights in " rpms finally came down a little but still too high " I was cresting a hill at around 7000 rpms and nearly 50 mph , next thing I see was a beast of a deer crossing about 20 ft in front of me. I hit the deer dead center and pretty much stopped dead, flew to the right and sorta hit and rolled . I did have time to grab both brakes and slow down to I'm guessing around 35 to 40 mph . luckily my scoot drove back , but with some busted plastic , broken headlight lens , Colling fan scoop and side engine shield busted off ,and a broken front brake lever. I have a sore and scraped up knee , luckily I had my helmet on , I felt it hit the ground. My right hand is scraped up and sore. But all and all I think I'm fine . my knee is starting to really hurt but I think its OK. I'll post some pics of the scoot in a bit , I have to get some ice for my knee. Glad you're still in one piece! GEEZ! That is one of my biggest fears-- hitting a deer on these scooters! Good thinking with the helmet, too. It could've been much worse!

I usually replace mine (only have one) once a year and most likely will do that on wed/thurs of next week.

Is it a vacuum fuel petcock? Maybe fuel is being sucked down the vacuum line into the intake manifold. The petcock might be worn.

I have a BBK in mind I saw that thread of yours. I have a 50cc (well 72cc) and there is no turning back to a stock 50cc-- EVER, lol! Big difference in power.

Gonna get a junk scoot and fix it up and convert it to a barebone design for the warmer weather. Take off all the plastic, hide the wires in the frame, etc. Sounds like fun. I've been looking for used scoots on craigslist to toy around with. Not too many to choose from locally. As of now, my small garage is more of a storage area than anything, lol. Need more room!

On my 150cc, I plan on switching all lights to LEDs, switching to sliders, installing a cheap android phone for maps and theft prevention/recovery, and a 61mm BBK with uni intake and enlarged exhaust header. Hoping to reach 80, I can already hit 65-70 thanks to the gearing and 16" wheels. On my 50cc, I plan on switching gears and finally enlarging the exhaust header. Hoping to reach between 55-60, currently topping out around 50. Hey Jerry, what gears do you plan on putting in the 50?

Nothing. The other day though I went to get cat food at 3am (cuz the cat will rub his paws on my door until I go nuts), and the plastic that holds my key finally broke when I tried to open my seat compartment. It took me like 5 minutes to finally turn the bare metal key by hand!
I couldn't help but think that it looked like I was trying to steal it or break into it, lol.
I do have a spare key, so it's all good. The old one was bent up anyway.

I'm just wondering, with warmer weather finally arriving, what mods are next on your list (or possibly next)? Or what mods did you do over the winter and/or early spring? What kind of projects? New mirrors?...etc..etc.

Not sure, maybe take the fan shroud off and look around the cylinder base.
These issues (threads) you've had lately, have me concerned to be honest. With the head nuts and cylinder side bolts coming loose and possible gasket pieces in the oil.
For the oil, I usually change mine once a month. Usually by 1,000km it's black--- which is why I change mine before that point anyway. The oil level dropping, other than normal use, could be a leak (case or cyl. base gasket in oil?) or possibly a ring issue, IMO (which blow-by was mentioned in the other thread by hillbillybob). If you feel your oil is getting darker faster than normal, your rings/cylinder could be worn/failing for whatever reason, and the combustion products/byproducts could be trashing your oil--not sure.
