First try removing the fuse by the battery and connect the two fuse clips together, if that doesnt work then try jumping the starter solenoid by making both of the contact posts touch by using a long screwdriver and if it turns then you'll atleast know you can get power from your battery. In the picture it looks like the ground terminal on the battery is very loose which could cause power issues also.

If you replace your rings then you need to replace both head and base gaskets also.

Stator testing is pretty simple and its the same for all stators unless you have a DC stator but first disconnect the harness that comes out of the flywheel side of your engine and also disconnect the other 2 wire connectors which should be red/black and a striped colored one(colors can vary). Set your Multi-reader to 200 VAC to test the first wire which is your engines power wire, the red/black. Hook the positive probe from your reader to the wire and ground the negative probe to the frame. Once both securely connected, turn on your ignition and attempt to turn the engine over for a few seconds and anything above 80 VAC is passable. next wire is the other single wire which is your trigger wire,it will have a stripe being either red/white or blue/white,etc. Switch your reader to 20 VAC and test that and it should read .1 Next are the harness wires and testing them in the same pattern, Yellow should read atleast 4 VAC to 10 VAC and same for the white wire. The green is your ground but check the harness before and after its connected to ensure the ground wire has a secure connection. Thats all thats to it for stator testing.

What's your goal for the bike? More top end or quicker accels? Check your plug and let us know what it looks like and that'll help diagnose your carb issue.

Yup thats the only way I've ever swapped springs. It's alot easier with two people though to get the small retainers in but works like a charm.

Water can creep its way into an engine if the bike isn't covered but since your blowing smoke then there's either (A) water in the oil or (B) bad piston rings but since its white I'd say water. With the valve cover off does it smell like gas? I've seen several bikes that have had a bad petcock and it just floods the engine so that could be a factor too. Just drain the oil and throw in a new spark plug and you should be fine.

Will the headlight socket not fit in the assembly anymore? no factory harness to plug the wiring into? That particuar style light is pretty straight forward since it has notches for the bulb and also seperate notches on the socket itself that line up in the assembly.

correct Terri also before buttoning the engine back up, roll the engine over manually to make sure the valves didnt lose their gap.

Should be the 3 holes on the cam whether it be stock or aftermarket parts, I'd pop the valve cover back off and roll the cam until you see them. I usually do .004/.005 for 150s.

I ran mine without a battery and the R/R failed. Even with a dead battery in the bike it'll keep the R/R alive. Test the volts that lead into the headlight, usually when headlights keep blowing its due to the R/R failing.

Roads definitely show no mercy and the pavement will always be waiting. A buddy of mine died last week on his bike so lately I've been extra cautious.

I dont get much time to ride my own bikes but I do love going for test rides on customer or sold bikes at my shop. On my days off I usually end up working on bikes but eventually I have enough time for a long cruise.

Sometimes I get a call at my shop and the customer will be so oblivious to even operate a scooter or how to use a kickstarter so I go over the basics and after about ten minutes into the conversation, if theyre still unable to understand then I'll throw a few zingers in and ask them to check the blinker fluid and whatnot.
