How comes the HD guys wont wave at me when Im on my scooter,,are they too tough to wave..lmao!!
Jerseyboy,
Don't know the answer to that one... Most Hog-jockeys are friendly to me, but then, it MAY be that I remind them of their grandfathers... Or, that they think anybody as old and shop-worn as me, still riding ANYTHING must be a lot "badder" than I look... LOL!
Admittedly, the Harley boyz DO run the gamut from businessmen biker-wannabes, to tourers, to builders, to the true, hard-core bad-boys riding sun-baked choppers sans-plates, serial-numbers missing, with sawed-off shotguns and machetes displayed in plain sight on the bikes... wearing wreaths of teeth, jaw-bones, scalps, skulls and such... trophies of a lifetime of fight-to-the-death turf-wars... And of course, the obligatory 2-pound framing hammer in the belt-loop of their overalls.
If you're NOT a member of their number, those extreme tribal types are probably best left alone... Unless you're REALLY an alpha-dog on steroids (with about 50 saddle-pals of like persuasion) and y'all have a death-wish... LOL! A half-century back, I did occasionally go on runs with those guys, but even before the drug-culture, it was a pretty dicey endeavor... Best reserved for those young enough to not realize what they may be in for...
Heck, I wave at everybody, and usually they wave back... except maybe some of the Vespa crowd... LOL! I believe in being friendly to everybody, and always pack a smile... And also pack some heat... You just never know which one will be the most effective.
Ride safe, and watch yer' six!
Leo

How comes the HD guys wont wave at me when Im on my scooter,,are they too tough to wave..lmao!! Now there is a tough question. Maybe it is where you live and people are not friendly, maybe they didn't see you, maybe they don't like any body, maybe they are having a bad day, maybe they are daydreaming about getting some when they get to their distination, maybe they are white line fixed, oh gosh the list goes on. I will say that when it comes to waves, high fives or nods, I find that "crotch rockets" folks don't wave as much as Harley Folk. I always have a hand out (wave) to any two wheeled machine coming towards me, no matter which one of my machines I am on, the HD, the 150 scooter or 300 trike, most do wave back. There was one day I will never forget a couple years ago, I was riding solo on my HD Dresser, and coming towards me was a very long line of Harleys, as always I stuck my left hand out, everyone of them returned the greeting, as they were passing I did notice it was a group of patch wearing 1%ers (Outlaws) Have a great ride and keep the sunny side up

They wave as long as nobody else is around,,as soon as they are in a gang or other people are looking they dont wave AS MUCH..maybe its a jersey thing,,but it happens in Pa also,,I think they would love to ride the scooter and are jealous,,but also afraid to look weak by waving to a scooter...its not all of them but quite a bit Like I said,,a scooter is like a big fat girl,,people would ride one when nobody is looking..lol..remember the old moped joke..

Harley just came out with a 750cc which is a lot smaller then their norm. Kind of reminds me of a buell. I'd love to have an old M50 scooter.I say if you like it and it fits your needs get it. To many people get wrapped up in what other people will think of them/it. I own a Vrod which is a harley BUT since Porsche had a big hand in desiging the motor and that it's water cooled a lot of die hard harley guys give me grief over it. At the end of the day I'm the one making payments on it so I bought what I wanted. If we weren't so wrapped up in self image I would bet money on way more people owning and driving scooters.

I had a Harley rider wave at me one time when I was riding a motorized bicycle. My motorized bike did resemble a pre-1920 Harley, Most pre-1920 Harleys were single cylinder and had pedals for starting. I sold it a few years back.

I would definitely buy one because it would likely be made in the USA by an American company.

After thinking it over they would probably be far too expensive and way out of my price range.

Yea why buy anything made in America. Or support American products. ? As we pass homeless / jobless people in the streets. Driving our foreign cars , yapping on our Japanese cell phones .while our Country falls to crap. News flash: Harleys are actually NO LONGER ABLE TO BE CALLED "made in USA". They are >50% imported parts.

"News flash: Harleys are actually NO LONGER ABLE TO BE CALLED "made in USA". They are >50% imported parts." BMW motorcycles use a lot of Chinese parts these days as well. Outsource everything . Its the American way of buisness. That was as instructed by the "Mentors" sent out by the National Small Business Administration in the late 1980's and early 1990's. The formula was: Stage 1 - Subcontract South American manufacturing in short time dropping all your local manufacturing while retaining your admin, design, sales and delivery workers. Stage 2 - Turn over delivery to warehouse distribution companies or preferably a Global Company under contract to maintain stock and perform deliveries for you while you get rid of your own delivery people. Stage 3 - Contract a sales firm with a global presence and get rid of your own sales staff. Stage 4 - Hire a Chinese company to take over design and manufacturing dropping your own design team and dissolving the South American manufacturing contracts. Quality should be maintained at the lowest acceptable level to maximize profits and keep failure at a level that will not cause a large loss of profit. Stage 5 - Hire a management team getting rid of the rest of your own people and step away collecting dividends while they take it to an IPO. Your tax dollars at work helping you disassemble your company and fire everyone that works for you (oops I mean optimize their positions since in the new age business model there are not any people just workforce positions) so in the end its just down to you and your personal accountant.
