Stock belt broke on my brothers 50 VIP with bbk and cvt upgraded, etc. Two miles from home. So I put another Chinese crap belt on cause I couldn't afford the Gates belt about 2 weeks ago. Well it broke on me last night about 5 miles from home, in the dark out in the middle of nowhere in the country, deer, coyotes howling, etc. I'm putting on a Gates belt this week. Pushing up a few hills, coasting down hills, took me 1-1/2 hours to home!

Count your blessings that the belts didn't wrap around the variator or clutch and jamb things up. When its the variator you can lose a piston, valves, con rod or crank and possibly all four items while if its the clutch and it does not release you can go down.

Also put a 12v adaptor on your scooter and you can use it for changing phones, gps or running the impact so you don't have to take the battery cover off.

I have the HF powered impact wrench, love it. Took me almost two years to finally just drop the cash on one to replace my variator. One note of caution about having an impact wrench...it could impact your wallet too.... Having such easy access to the variator, clutch and flywheel, you may find that the you want more performance parts. That's the impact on your wallet.

Maybe something you did caused a change, that in turn is chewing up the belts faster. Every cheap $10 Chinese belt ive bought has yet to break *knock on wood*

spandi, Funny you should mention the HF impact wrench, I just ordered one yesterday. I already have a cig lighter socket that I installed for my Battery Tender, so its just a matter of plugging the wrench into the socket.

You might want to take a real good look at your clutch champ. Even the cheapest poopiekaka belts dont break that fast.

My stock belt shredded , I replaced it with a cheapo it shredded on the test ride . I thought it was just a bad belt , called the vendor they sent out another one . I got 2 miles with it . Never again will I use a cheapo belt and anyone that I talk to I tell not to waste there time or effort .
