Ok guys I'm back with more needs of help. Im trying to get my varaitor nut off still....i tried a impact first hitting it with 140lbs nothing it just laughed at me. Desided i had to try something else so i tried the rope trick... Packed about 12 inchs of rope in there an tried by hand with a breaker bar..i broke my piston in half.. I just ordered a 80cc bbk to fix that issue but i still have to remove that nut the motors riped down waiting for the bbk on monday. Any advice guys...the bike was bought last year an the nut has never been taken off before....2012 taotao atm-50 gy6 motor

I got the Harbor Freight Impact. 39$$ w-coupon code.
The nut still would not come off. I bought the Impact sockets. Then tried it and Bam, it came off easy.
These things are put on to tight. Glued on. If you use a regular socket that is part of the problem.
Harbor Freight had Heavy Duty Impact sockets for $12.
Ever wonder why those tire shops have those monster sockets on their Impacts. Because the work.

OK smart guy Thanx loads That $39 impact wrench cost me $150 (I had to get the sockets, extensions, and a few other things.) The discount more than covered my gas to drive to the other side of town and buy em. I don't 'need' em now, just a nice to have thing. Thanx for the coupon Dave

If nothing else, you could get a propane touch and heat it up, that should loosen it up.

[replyingto=chihuahuas]chihuahuas[/replyingto]Ya, you should never use a regular socket on an impact wrench. They tend to spread out and can crack or shatter. If people would read the directions that come with an impact gun it will state this. Impact sockets are made thicker and of a harder metal.

You can laways try a breaker bar and use a good socket. If that does not give you the leaverage a pipe for extending the bar should do it.

Same way you would if you were using a wrench, I made a spanner wrench for me that will hol it, I have seen posts were people use a piece of plywood that had a couple bolts through it, there is a gizmo you can screw into the spark plug hole that keeps the motor from turning over, and a piece that is a toothed device you bolt to the housing and it goes into the teeth the starter on a 50cc turns the motor with, oh one last thing, an old shade tree mechanic way to keep the motor from turning over is to feed a quarter inch rope into the spark plug hole so it occupies the space and the piston can not come up you have to put a good amount of rope in there.

Here's my home made variator tool. The OEM tool for my Scarabeo was $150, so I just made one out of hardwood and bolts. It works just fine.

Looks well secured.
Oh I also made a strap wrench to hold round things with, it worked very well on the flywheel of my riding lawn mower so I could loosen that bolt.
