Good deal,, These little GY6 scooters are alot of fun to ride and work on..you could pull the head off and do a leak test,,lay the head on a flat surface and fill the combustion chamber full of WD-40 or similar,,make sure your spark plug it tight and see if any leaks out. A good lapping of those valves would be a great idea..I saw a guy on youtube install 2 new valves and lap the seats,,it was a very easy job,,and looked like alot of fun as well. Keep up posted brother!! Tom

Its good practice to at least check the gap to make sure its within tolerance. If the ends of the rings are just about touching after the motor heats up they will bind and you WILL score/scuff the cylinder in the tight spots. You guys who don't check it got lucky..I always check it in different parts of the cylinder too,,top, middle, bottom. How do you check the engine over an over like that? Do you have dozens of new gaskets or something? I thought you can't reuse them, otherwise I would have done that too, but I do not have a gasket set for everytime I want to open it up and look... If you do it right the first time you wont have to open up the motor to look again and again.I never open my motors up after rebuilding them,,once the heads torqued down that's it,,I don't plan on going back in till years down the road. No don't reuse your gaskets,,if they are in good shape you can apply some Indian head Shellac of RTV to the paper ones,,but don't ever reuse a head gasket or metal crush type.

Your not really going to notice any huge improvements until the new rings are broke in,,so give it a few hundred miles and it will come alive even more

32k miles!! That GY6 doesn't owe you a thing!! Wow,,thats about all you will get,,if you get more than that you are on borrowed time..
Time for a new motor..$300 from ebay, alot easier than doing a rebuild and less time consuming unless you want to learn about rebuilding a GY6 from crank up and thats only if your cases are in good shape:)

I would love to try 18:36 gears but wouldn't that be pretty rough on the clutch at takeoff..guess you could go with some stiffer springs,,bet cruising speed would be over 50 mph easy...lol
They should invent a two stage clutch for these things..

Yup .008 and .010 will be perfect for you,,thats what I did,,rounded mine to the nearest 10.
My breaks include Hot Wings and Ribs,,gave up cigs and beer a while ago..I drank enough to kill 12 sailor men when I was younger so i had my fair share of fun.

Just plug and remove everything except one line from the intake feeding the ACV valve on carb...get rid of the petcock too,,it will only cause trouble down the road.
I have one functioning vacuum line left on my GY6,,and I plan on getting rid of that as well...only line on the motor other than a fuel line should be a breather IMO.

Sounds like a plan,, Im like you,,been heavy into building and modding bikes,,mostly 2 strokes in the past 35 years,,keep us posted on your endeavors. As soon as it warms up a bit around here I plan on doing some more testing on this little GY6.I have a 3rd gen racing clutch and bell on the way,,Im sure that will compliment the 60mm BBK pretty sweetly

That will work,,mine is a little squished in the airbox too..lol.
If you change the oil every 1000 miles and keep up with all the maintenance,belts,filters,lines,tires,ect...I see no reason they should not last a long time. You cant go riding around at 7K RPM's all day everyday either IMO if you want it to last years.
I change my oil every 1000km,,i know its overkill but its cheap and gives me something to do,,i don't like when my oil gets dirty.
Here is the video of that dewd...he had 26,000 miles on it here but he kept it longer, last time I asked him it had well over 30K.
He has an Automotor scooter with 60K on it also.. If I could get 20k miles I would be more than happy!
